Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Thoroughly enjoyed a night in the light and airy Baytree Suite. Spotlessly clean, beautiful furniture, lots of room. High quality linens, super comfy bed, quality refreshments, good complimentary toiletries, fresh milk (600ml). Good variety of glasses to suit your preferred tipple. Position close to restaurants etc and harbour. Highly recommend this property. Host Tony very welcoming, and a big thank you to Tony for the heads-up on the Sourdough Bakery close by, for super bread, croissants, and especially, the almond croissants. Lovely property.

Having travelled to Portland many times I have stayed in a variety of accommodation over the years. This time I was travelling solo and so wanted something in the centre of town close to everything. I also wanted to spoil myself with something more luxurious. Annesley House did not disappoint. The decor and furnishings were absolutely beautiful. The room had everything I needed with a kitchenette and a modern bathroom, large, king-size bed and views of the church across the road. I will definitely be back to stay. Although breakfast is not provided, there are ample cafes close by that serve delicious food.

Annesley House is in a great position. Quiet area and easy walking distance to the Harbour and main street. We stayed in the Captains Apartment. Spotlessly clean and beautiful furniture. You have a little view from the kitchen window, looking down the street to the ocean. The owner, Tony is very charming and welcoming.

Had a wonderful stay here. The place is exceptionally clean and Tony available for any needs. Loved the history of the place and how close it is to main shops, foreshore and restaurants. Only suggestion would be to update TV to smart TV! Enjoyed the little extras such as the coffee and biscuits

This is really a great place to stay! I made the reservation because of the attractive site and the history of the house. It has been a physician’s practice in the early days. There was one room left when I booked, so I took that. Tony phoned me the day after whether I wanted a bigger room, well sure and so it happened. The place has retained all its grandeur and is maintained very well. Roomy rooms with everything you desire. I loved it here

We stayed in the outside cottage. It was great to have tons of room and your own garden. I'd highly recommend the cottage. I was worried about the location but for Portland it was a great location just next to the main street of shops and restaurants.
