Opened in August 2014, Crossroads Ecomotel is a newly built motel offering affordable quality accommodation in Port Augusta. The energy efficient buildings feature rammed earth, double glazing and SIPs to keep the heat and noise out and comfort in. Spacious rooms with kitchenette, ensuite, king bed, reverse cycle AC, large outdoor deck, leather lounge & 40" wall mounted TV. We receive lots of compliments on how comfortable the beds are and how good guests have slept. Many stay an extra night and most plan their return to stay with us again. We also have 2 rooms that are pet friendly (pets allowed in the rooms) but please call us to check availability.

I love staying at Crossroads Ecomotel and recommend it highly! The rooms are large and spotlessly clean. The beds are luxuriously comfortable with fluffy doonas, comfortable pillows and crisp fresh white linen. There is a fridge, microwave, kettle and a wall mounted TV along with a quiet efficient airconditioner. This stay is comfort plus! The staff are exceptional and are happy to help you with anything you need to make your stay a pleasant one. There are some pet friendly rooms which have an attached fenced yard which makes life extremely easy. Pets are allowed in these rooms but not on the beds. I have stayed here 4 or 5 times and recommend it to everyone.

I really love the idea of this motel: every aspect has been planned to be environmentally friendly. So it has rammed earth walls, double glazed windows, solar panels, recycled water ... . The motel unit is quite plain from the front car park, but on entering the spacious interior, the only give away is the interior opposite brown walls - the solid rammed earth. The unit has every mod-con, and the far end has glass doors opening onto a partly covered deck and small enclosed nature area. We would have preferred a dining table and chairs in place of the desk. Alan, the host, is very friendly and welcoming. I would love to give this motel *****, but there is a catch.

The unit is advertised with free wifi, but I found I couldn’t log in. Upon enquiry, Alan told me that there was some problem getting reception ‘with those units’. He was right! Sitting on the back deck and hanging my iPad out over the garden trying to get good reception was very frustrating, and definitely out of character with the motel’s modern image. When travelling, good wifi is a must for me, so (sorry Alan!) I would not stay here again. I must say, reception improved in the morning, but speeds were still slow.

Hi Paul. Many thanks for the review and my sincere apology for the very poor WiFi. I know how important this is and we are working hard to rectify this. We have had the IT technicians out and have found the fault and we are putting in more booster points for better reception. The rammed earth walls are great for thermal mass, noise control and ambience but not so good for the WiFi signal and we have a few spots where we need to improve the signal strength. Some rooms are worse than others. Unfortunatley, all our neighbours also want fast WiFi and have upped their capacity to access bandwidth and so now we must do the same (thats what the IT guys tell me). This is not a permanent state and something we are constantly trying to optimise. Warm regards Alan

That's not an exaggeration! - we overrnighted in Pt Augusta on our way to Pt Lincoln, picked a reasonably priced motel at random and got incredibly lucky! The place looks nothing from the road and the courtyard is obviously a work in progress, but the room was fabulous! Vey spacious, clean and equipped with the most comfortable (king size) bed we've ever experienced in a motel, together with a large sofa, TV on a swivel wall mount so you could watch from the bed or the sofa and a basic kitchenette with microwave. I loved the rammed earth walls and the large timber deck at the rear. The shower cubicle is large and the shower provides plenty of hot water at a great pressure. The walls are very thick, so you hear nothing from the rooms either side (except for the inconsiderate guest in the room next door to us, who talked loudly and at length on her mobile phone outside on her deck at 11 o'clock at night and 0730 in the morning - but them's the breaks and not the fault of the motel!).
We stayed in a 4-star hotel in Pt Lincoln and I have to say that the room at the Crossroads Ecomotel was better!
It is situated right on the Eyre Highway (truck route), but the noise in the units not facing the road (most of them) was minimal. The owner/manager was very welcoming and helpful.
Will definitely stay again next time we're in Pt Augusta.

Second time we have stayed at crossroads in the family room which has a Double Bed and 2 Singles. Rooms are very clean with spacious modern bathrooms, free wifi is reasonably good when compared to many other motels we have stayed in. Good for overnight stay travelling through, good takeaway close by or short drive into Pt Augusta City Centre for restaurants.

Our first visit (last week) was so pleasing that we varied our return journey to stay here again today. What’s so special? The place just feels good: the rooms are inviting and generous. Generous in size (no tight corners or skimped fittings); large work desk, and spacious well equipped kitchen and bathroom; relaxingly pleasant decor, amazingly quiet and airy rooms which are spotlessly presented. Best sleep ever on very comfortable bed. All topped off by Jan’s warm welcome and helpful local advice.
We’d love Ecomotel to be in all our favourite towns!
Tip: book well ahead.

We spent our days bushwalking in the hot summer sun so the showers in this motel were much appreciated. Plenty of hot water with excellent pressure. We paid extra for a king size bed room which per other reviews meant we’d be away from the main road, but that wasn’t the case. We were in room 5 which was at the front. You can definitely still hear the road trains despite the rammed earth, double glazing and air con noise. The noise didn’t disturb us though, if anything there is something quintessentially Australian about seeing the road trains and counting their trailers!
A 24hr Coles express is right across the road which is handy too. Very happy with our stay here.

Many thanks for the great review Ted. The front rooms do have more traffic noise and I have finally completed the fence which should reduce this. Also looking at other ways to minimize the road noise. Best to book direct to ensure you are back off the highway and save us the OTA fees. This is the only way to ensure you get the best room available.

I stayed here on the 8-9th June and I can say it is definately the most beautiful room that I have stayed in. The room - clean, tidy and well equipped. Immaculate could also be said about it.
The bathroom - very hygenic, clean and gorgeous towels and soft.
The staff are friendly, well informed and great to chat to. They know the area (best chicken take away across the road) and willing to answer any questions that you ask. Will definately stay again, whether for work or travel. Thankyou so much and look forward to my next stay.

I arrived at Crossroads and was absolutely delighted to meet the amazing "Jan" who welcomed me and my travelling companion "Tara" my 10 year old Rotty. I am an essential worker relocating to Regional Victoria. The pristine reception, and the Covid19 Safety precautions immediately gave me great comfort.

When I walked into my room I felt I had walked into a dream: the impeccably clean, upmarket room, the deck and outdoor fenced area and all of the things you would want for a wonderful rest were all there. I had the most amazing sleep in luxurious comfort and warmth with great linen and the best pillows I have had the pleasure of sleeping on. (Better than my own).

Booked 2 nights in a Deluxe room using hotel's website for a cost of $139 per night. Motel right on Eyre Highway. Big wide carpark with parking right at the door, towards the western side of the room.We were allocated Room 10
A well presented comfortable room with everything working. Plenty of room with extra bonus of a private porch on the eastern side with seating. Plenty of power points. Reliable fast wifi.
A comfortable king size bed & a comfortable lounge.
Theres a sink where you are able to wash up your breakfast things, a toaster & kettle. A bar fridge too. Minimal tea & coffee. If you want to sit for a meal then the outdoor furniture on the porch would work
Very quiet when windows closed. The air con is very quiet too.
Ensuite works well with an openable window facing the carpark.
The room was not serviced during our stay. Our bin still had the previous occupants rubbish as well.
A good value comfortable stay all round .

I chose this motel over others in Port Augusta based on the positive reviews on TA and can see while it consistently receives such accolades. The rammed earth walls make the room nice and warm (in August) and the decor was sleek and modern. Everything about it was perfect. We stayed in Room 19 at the back of the premises which housed a comfy king sized bed, kitchenette and small deck. Admittedly, I was concerned about the proximity to the main road and yes, some noise does filter through at times. However as the night wore on, it was minimal.
A friendly welcome by the front desk staff was appreciated as was the dinner recommendation at the excellent nearby Western Hotel.
Booking ahead is crucial as even on a Tuesday night, it was fully booked. I guess that says it all. Thanks for a lovely stay.
