Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This place changed hands just a couple of days after I stayed in October 2019 but the lady that checked me in was lovely and the whole ambience of the joint was brilliant. Make sure you read the descriptions of the rooms and amenities to make sure you know what you are getting but the place has a lovely vibe and the rooms really took me back. Older travellers will love it especially. The parking is off-street and secure which is a bonus and it's out of the very centre of town. If you've a larger vehicle you won't have trouble getting a park on the street outside and overall my stay was worth every penny.

We stayed for only one night but we were so happy to stay here. Quiet during night on public holiday even just next to the train line. It could be depending on the day?
Very clean room and linen. Painting and artificial flowers made us relaxed. Spacious room and bathroom. Car can be parked in front of the room in secured place. Would book here next trip again.

The manager of this hotel went over and beyond to help us. We booked late and arrived late and he fitted our 2 campers behind locked gates in a small area. Nothing was too much for him. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and in walking distance to an excellent hotel up the road and laundromat just across the road. We will be staying here again. Highly recommend.

Very dirty, dilapidated and outdated. The room was so bad that we were moved to another room. Instead of apologising, the staff just gave excuses and argued. The room we were moved to was not much better and had sounds of the freight trains all night. I would stay very far from this hotel.

Banisters, tiles, plastering ect. broken

Only spent one night here on the way to the Flinders Ranges. The building is lovely and historic, and our room was huge. The bed was comfortable and we had a nice sunset view out the window. Walking distance to a nice park and a few fast food restaurants. The centre of town is a short drive away.

The woman at reception was friendly and helpful. Off street secure parking was available and wifi was good throughout the building.

Recently stayed for 1 night while travelling through. Don't let the rough looking building on the outside or the fact you need to call a number for someone to come and check you in put you off. The owner is friendly and extremely helpful. The inside of the building is renovated. We booked a motel room which is out the back, not in the main building. Room was clean and spacious. The little court yard was perfect to enjoy takeaway dinner in. Would stay here again if ever travelling through or visiting.

When you look at the surrounds here it’s easy to judge too quickly as the actual accommodation is very good
The beds are comfortable, the room is spacious and breakfast is included
The owners welcome is warm and nothing is a problem
The only downside for me was the noise from the trains - if I can get better ear plugs I will certainly stay here again

An old pub done up with motel rooms and a few motel units hidden out the back,
Reception did get a bit defensive when we asked to look at the room first, however all looked good until after we booked in and noticed train tracks outside our window, but with the installation of window shutters it did help reduce the noise a bit.You need to be careful when sitting down on the dinning suite chairs as they are falling to bits and in need of some TLC. The unit was quite clean apart from some spider webs in the bathroom, In general the accomodation is value for money at $105 per night as long as you are not a light sleeper.

Relocating for work so drove across to the other side of the country (east to west coast). Pampas was a pit stop, a quarter of the 6km+ journey. Spent one night here. Wonderful boutique quality to the room (bed, mirror/basin, wallpaper, scent diffuser, rug/wooden floors, table/chairs etc). I stayed in room 1- plenty of space for just me and overlooking streets if you had the blinds up. There was towels, fridge and air-con, even a section to hang your shirts/coats which I used. Used the shared (but private) bathroom facilities - cute plant in there! And very clean throughout! Could see there was a lot of thought behind the place, bit of the old and bit of the new. Loved it! What made it even better was the company. Had great yarns with the hotel owner, Michelle. She even texted me after I crossed the Nullarbor to make sure I was okay. What a sweet soul, and living in a place steeped in Port Augustan history. As usual, wish I had more time in towns but Pampas was what I needed, and budget-friendly for those on the road. Also very adorable staffy who was sad to see me go! Would only stay at Pampas if I was coming through Port Augusta again 🙂 A few extra notes: There isn't wifi at the moment, but I didn't mind that - a fellow guest threw me a 4x gold in the outdoor seating area so I was pretty happy especially after a long day of driving. It's only a few minutes in the car from the town centre. There's a kitchen (and bbq outdoors) but I didn't get a chance to use it. Happy travels!

Stopped one night. You can hear the train at night but that didn't bother us. Very clean well appointed room. It was disappointing not to have wi fi as we selected this motel after searching online due to price and free wi fi. You are given a basket of food to make your brekkie.,a nice touch, ample secure parking at the rear.
