Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I cannot recommend this property highly enough. The new owner, Jonathan, goes out of his way to ensure everything is perfect. The room we had was spotless, with very good quality furniture and bedding. We chose the Brighton Suite with a private balcony and a full-size spa in the bathroom. It was glorious to sit outside and watch the myriad of birdlife.
Provisions for breakfast were in each room and we had the liberty of using the Whitby breakfast room as well. The property boasts an honour system for wine and beer and prices were extraordinarily low. There was also port and chocolates gratis - a nice touch.
We were accompanied by our small dog, which was made very welcome, both by the owner and the other dogs on the premise. There is a huge back yard play area for the pooch to be happy.
Jonathan was really the icing on the cake of a lovely stay. Friendly and helpful, knowledgable, world traveller, and mine host extraordinaire.

We were booked at an air bnb at The Oaks in a privately owned apartment. Door key cards were not in the lockbox as promised, owner could not be contacted and Oaks were not interested in helping. After waiting 2.5 hours we knew we had to book somewhere else but by then everything was totally booked out except Torquay.

I don't typically stay in B and Bs and was hesitant. I called John, the owner, who was fabulous. He said to come over immediately and look at the two available rooms and decide then if I wanted one

They were clean and very well styled with so many small touches thought of. We checked in immediately, as we had dinner reservations, and it was quick and smooth.

The Scarborough room is small but the bed very comfortable and beautifully styled. Small ensuite is very clean and there is a smart TV. John gave lots of great local information.

In the morning the kitchen was incredibly well stocked with a fabulous included 'cook yourself' breakfast. In the end we didn't even see any of the other 3 occupants, so it was more like being in a small motel, even though this is the upper floor of a house.

Thank you John for helping us out so quickly and for providing all the lovely extras that make for a pleasant stay. I'd absolutely stay here again!

A very lovely, clean and well furnished B&B, where John, the owner, welcomed us warmly, even after hours. He was very friendly, humble and interested. You can literally feel the effort and time he’s been putting into creating this lovely space. Breakfast was readily available with a wide range of breakfast beverages included in the price. The rooms were equipped with bathtubs, a hot tub, Netflix and very comfortable king size beds. John was available for any questions and inquiries and also recommend good dinner places in the area! We would come back any time! Thanks John!

Jonathon is the perfect host, nothing was a trouble for him to accommodate our wishes & needs. The Brighton Suite, which had been newly renovated, was perfect, decor was superb. Located close enough for a walk to the beach area but far enough away not to be troubled by road noise of the Esplanade.

Jon was a great host from arrival to departure.

I liked that there was an option to use the shared kitchen.

Staying at this B&B felt like going home to visit your family (The good ones) and being spoilt with choices.

My family and I stayed at the B&B after we became stuck in Hervey Bay due to flooding. It is clear that the owner has put a lot of love and care into the place. The breakfast was really nice, and the dining area was very welcoming. The owner was very friendly, and has a lovely Labrador dog. The internet and air con was very good. Would definitely recommend to other travellers.

We enjoyed a lovely stay at The Torquay Terrace and John was very welcoming and friendly. We stayed in the Brighton Suite which was lovely - it had a little balcony over looking the front where you can just sit and watch the world go by, read a book or just meditate. The bathroom was huge - a powerful enclosed shower, his and hers sinks and huge jacuzzi bath made for two! I cannot not mention the towels, they were fantastic - huge and so luxurious. Breakfast facilities were very good, continental style but everything you would want. There is quite a lot of wildlife in the area, and I was lucky enough to be invited by John to go into his garden and see a group of Kangaroos which was amazing. Thanks John, I will have that video forever now.

We had a wonderful stay at Torquay Terrace, and were delighted by the pet friendly Brighton suite, with its very own balcony and spa bath. John was a gracious host, and made us feel very welcome during our stay. We will definitely be back when we next visit Hervey Bay.

Trish I asked a question Oct 2020
Are you a pet friendly bxb
Answer from JCapel

We are pet friendly to well behaved house trained quiet non anxious dogs. Puppies are not toilet trained reliably, so we request mature dogs. I am asking $20 to allow dogs to stay. This extra charge is to compensate the owner for extra cleaning costs.
