Situated in a really nice area, pool was nice, food was nice and the grounds were well looked after. Lovely to have a large pond with small turtles in also. However sleeping was very difficult as the double bed was small and no air con. On the whole would recommend

We have stayed on a powered site twice. Love the large sites, well kept, extensive grounds, friendly and inexpensive restaurant. The staff were very accommodating and made us feel very welcome with our dogs.

Lovely place to stay! The place is definitely more like a holiday resort than a hostel. Very relaxed there with lots of wildlife. Only downside is WiFi not in the rooms but this is no problem as the communal area/bar is very good, quiet and spacious.

This is a good hostel which is superior to some of the other YHA offerings up the east coast. Whilst a short car journey from the main hubs of Hervey Bay, a supermarket and some pleasant walking paths along the coast are in walkable distance. The main perk for backpackers in the place is surely the very well priced food...

Stayed here for 2 nights either side of a Fraser Island tour. Easy check in and out and very friendly staff. Very chilled out. Everything you need from a short stay in a hostel. A little far away from town but good as a lay over.

The staff are friendly and dorm rooms spacious and clean, but I wish they would have told us a private room was almost the same price as two dorm beds. Everything was quite clean and we saw lots of wild life. Quite far from anything exciting, would be perfect if it was closer to the main areas.

This site caters for all types, a variety of cabins and backpacker accommodation, also camping of the usual types. My experience was in an on-suite cabin, clean well appointed and comfortable. I felt it pleasing that I was visited by a group of peacocks, I'm sure they were interested in finding if food was available, nonetheless pleasing. The Colonial also...

I stayed here with my girlfriend for one day to do whales an Fraser Island tour and the amenities were good enough for what we needed, standard hostel. Biggest fail is the lack of equipment in the kitchen, where there are no even microwave.
