Lovely grass roots shared accommodation. The organising of the kitchen, and common spaces are layback and comfortable and dedication to recycling is commendable. Appreciate the non chemical cleaning products. Lovely tropical gardens. Great for young backpackers but option for family room and ensuite good for couples. Yeah ✨✨✨✨✨

Good location. Upon arrival I was provided with a box of dishes and cutlery for my stay. My room was nicely set up (dorm room of 4) and was well looked after by housekeeping during my stay. Small lockers available in the room for valuables. The room I stayed in backed into the staff quarters, and occasionally you could hear them talking late at night. Sheets and extra blankets were provided, and an aircon and fans were available to use.
The showers were a good temperature and pressure, and plenty of room so your things don’t get wet,
There was plenty of space in the fridge, however the kitchen could have been better stocked with some more utensils. The lighting in the communal room is a bit dim, but not a big problem. Nice couches in front on the tv, with books and games to play.
Reception seems to be by appointment only, but there is a number to call if you need to contact them. The only interaction I had was check in and check out, and it was polite.
Overall it was a decent stay.

We booked to stay as the place looked great.
We then read the reviews before arriving and were quite nervous.
Upon arrival we were very pleasantly surprised by the friendly and very welcoming owners.
The staff are also very friendly and helpful.
We booked a double ensuite room, we got room 'A' which has an unusual configuration but is well organised and very comfortable with a memory foam mattress topper making the bed luxurious.
We later learned that the room is setup to be able to be opened up to 3 rooms for multiple people.
The grounds are well kept and like a tropical oasis with lots of wildlife including birds, fish and frogs.
The kitchen and bbq areas are spotlessly cleaned and do have rules around use which are well observed and should be obeyed, clean what you use is the main gist of it.
There are plenty of pots, pans and utensils to help you cook up everything you could possibly need.
There is no oven.
The only downsides we could find is there is no screen door on room 'A' so we were unable to leave the door open for air flow and the ceiling fan has an annoying tick.
We will be back.

Thank you for your feedback and detailed description of your Woolshed Experience. The room you were in is part of the original homestead which explains the unusual configuration. Security screens are on all windows and adding a screen door and fan noisy fan has been mentioned to maintenance and will be added to the repairs schedule. See you next time!

The small hostel is surrounded integrated by nature. Really nice vibe because of it. Relatively small hostel and easy to make friends. Furthermore, I really liked how they helped me by the phone and the small baskets with your own cutlery, so you don't have to look for it across the kitchen and keep your own clean.

Set off a main road in Hervey Bay, this small but cosy Hostel style accommodation is a hidden gem. This former backpackers hostel is a great place for a large family to have a relaxing break without breaking the bank or camping out. Our family room was basic with 2 bunks, a double bed and a couch but it was just what we needed. The property has a small bbq area and some hammocks in shady spots and a small open area where the kids could run wild and kick a ball. A camp kitchen/common room was also available where we could wash up and cook if need be without having to do it in the room plus the early risers could hang out here and watch TV without waking up the rest of the family. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners who tried to help us get last minute whale watching tours (calling multiple outlets to no avail) and when we had an issue with hot water, it was fixed within 5 minutes. This might just become our secret hideaway for short trips to the Bay. Its also easy walking distance to the Esplanade, Lawn Bowls Club, Church and plenty of local parks.

Thank you Matt you've made our day!! Our rebrand and name change launched at the beginning of 2020 and we are grateful for the support we have received. Our luxury camping concept fills a space in the market for quick affordable family getaways, couples and friends wanting a private room with ensuite or larger groups or singles happy to share dorm style. The Woolshed is in the middle of Hervey Bay in the suburb of Scarness and only 5 minutes walk to a safe swimming beach, park, cafes and restaurants. We look forward to hosting you and your family again soon. Cheers Meg and Brent

We specifically chose to stay at the Woolshed because of the eco friendly ethos. We stayed twice (before and after going to Fraser Island); first in a double room with shared bathroom and second stay in an ensuite room. Both rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. We loved hanging out in the hammocks in the garden. The beach is a short walk away and there is a bus stop almost in front of the property. Staff are friendly and helpful. My only suggestion would be for there to be someone at the reception office a bit more often (which was closed often during our stays).

Meagan and Brent were very nice and helpful. I experienced first hand how they made it their No 1 priority to make their (female) guests feel welcome and safe.

If you arrive by bus you should be aware that its about a 35-40 min walk but public transport and taxis are available and very much affordable.

We paid 100$ for a private room where you need to pay extra for the aircon, pay extra for cutlery, the wall is only a piece of MDF so you hear everything, the mattress is not comfortable and it's really old.

To be fair the environment is cool and quiet but the hostel is cheap quality and way overpriced compared to what you can find at that price in the area. So basically stay there if you don't have another choice or for one-night max.

You booked our last room available for 1 night, last minute during the Easter weekend which is the busiest weekend of the year!! We can confidently say the only reason you booked this budget double room was because nothing else was available for 1 night. The standard rate for this budget offering is between $69 and $75, You paid $95, due to being last minute and a 1 night stay during a peak time. Aircon was included in the rate and we've never had an extra fee for cutlery. Maybe your confused with another property you've stayed at?? This room was available due to a late cancellation and the extra charge was added to cover house keeping for a one night stay during a peak period. In this case the early bird catches the worm and to avoid disappointment in future plan ahead during long weekends.

It was nice and also quiet. It was tidy but most of all the bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept in, in any accommodation. Very friendly staff and very helpful when our son got bitten by green ants they found some bite spray straight away! 🙏

The eco lodge is situated in a brilliant area, surrounded by trees, and local wildlife. You don't realise how big the place is until you go round the back to where the rooms are located. Our rooms was a double room which had tea, coffee, kettle and fridge facilities. The room was immaculate, and super comfy. There was an air-conditioning unit in the room. The bathroom facilities were located a couple of rooms down and these were spotless. There is a lovely BBQ area with good seating area, its surrounded by trees and garden. The Common seating area and kitchen is comfy with plenty of space to cook your meals.
The eco lodge is situated 5 mins walk to the esplanade, where there is cafes and pubs.
There is a Wetside water park not far from the eco lodge. We cycled past, it only took 10 minutes if that!
The beach is lovely, you can walk one way for 6km and 6km the other direction.
We found a brewery " Cauldron Brewing". Excellent place, lovely ales, lagers and ciders. We cycled here which only took 15minutes.
Don't forget to try the pie shop. "Pie& Pastry Paradise". Wow they are great pies!
We took the ferry over the Frasier island and walked to Lake McKenzie. Such a beautiful place.
We would stay again at the Woolshed Eco Lodge, as its in a great location, the owners Megan and Brent are really nice and helpful.
