Detailed Reviews
We loved our stay at Villa Cavour! The large room was comfortable and sitting on our balcony looking out over the pool was very relaxing. The well stocked kitchen, dining and living area was a lovely communal area. The pizza oven is available for guests to use and we had delicious wood fired pizzas. There are e-bikes available to use and along the esplanade is a great place to ride (especially to Enzos for a sunrise breakfast). There is a kayak available to use and a beautiful bay to paddle in (you may even see turtles). Dxean booked us on a whale watching tour which is one of the best things we have done for a long time. Dean & Tania are great hosts and we will be back!

What a gorgeous place ! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here over Easter with friends and family. Villa Cavour offers everything I needed - a gorgeous, airy room (and balcony overlooking the pool), well-stocked kitchen, wifi, pool, pizza oven, e-bikes, no pets. And it is just 5 houses from the beach, and a little further to Brew & View, an excellent cafe to pop into after a sunrise walk. Tania and Dean are wonderful hosts, and will happily share their knowledge on the best things to do while in Hervey Bay (Enzo's on a Sunday afternoon was a highlight). Highly recommended.

My husband and I have stayed here twice and have had a wonderful experience each time. The hosts are friendly, helpful and a joy to be around. The room we stayed in was a good size, clean, well presented and had an ensuite. The common areas downstairs are lovely and comfortable and well stocked with all the essentials to make for a very pleasant stay. Although not located along the beach front, the location of Villa Cavour is in a lovely area only a short drive from the swimming beaches and restaurants and close to the bike path that can take you all the way to the Urangan Pier.

A very beautiful and very comfortable guest house. The rooms and common areas are very well equipped, furnished and decorated with great taste, very comfortable. It is possible to have breakfast on site (food and drinks included), and to cook. The hosts have their own private area while being very available. The welcome is perfect, very warm and attentive. An address that we highly recommend.

We wanted to stay in the villa Cavour as a small piece of luxury during some travelling and it really didn’t disappoint. I can’t stress enough how great this place was. From the fully equipped and shiny kitchen to the very handy free electric bikes. It had everything you could possibly want in such a scenic place. Also, the hosts were so accommodating and kind, we felt so comfortable. They even let us relax by the pool while we were waiting for the bus after we’d checked out. Can’t recommend villa Cavour enough for anyone and everyone that wants to stay in Hervey bay

Response from Dean Comerford, Owner at Villa Cavour Hervey Bay
Responded 2 Sept 2023
Thank you so much for the privilege of hosting you both on your tripping around Australia. It was so nice to meet you and you were amazing guests (you even cooked us dinner! it was delicious). I trust the bus trip north wasn't too arduous and you have a great finish to your time in Aus.

Dean and Tanya go above and beyond for their guests, truly exceptional. The room was lovely and it was great to have the shared balcony for the breeze and birdsong. I think this venue would be especially ideal for couples or families traveling together. It’s a bit off the beaten path, so nice and quiet, and there’s parking for those with cars and bikes for those without to get up to the Esplanade.

My wife and I were on the final stage of our tour of Australia which was a drive of 1800km from Brisbane to Port Douglas over 8 days with stopovers as and when the mood took us at the end of each day. Having driven from Noosa we found ourselves in Hervey Bay intending to stay for a couple of nights and to take in a trip to Fraser Island. Our first decision was to make a selection as where to stay for two nights and we were much influenced by the reviews on tripadvisor for Villa Cavour.
With the help of our satnav we drove the short distance from the centre of Hervey Bay along the pleasant coast road arriving at the neat, suburban houses spread along the wide avenues on the outskirts at Point Vernon and were taken by the attractive detached house that is Villa Cavour. Villa Cavour is off the Esplanade in Banksia St, a wide sweeping avenue with well tended lawns running down to the road. It is an upmarket residential area about three km from the main tourist areas of the Esplanade which runs for several kilometres all the way to the marina, which is not a great marina compared to many around the world.
We pulled into the drive and made our way up the steps at the side of the house and were greeted by the charming and ever helpful Mara, the owner. It was not quite the peak season so there was plenty of availability. The rooms are on the first floor so you must be prepared to carry your cases up the stairs. Our room was clean and comfortable with a cosy king size bed and panelled flooring. The bathroom had a nice vanity sink but generally the furnishings were slightly tired. A veranda runs all the way around the house with tables and chairs immediately outside each room. There is a view of the ocean from the veranda looking over mango and other colourful trees into the distance. There is an outside swimming pool which we did not use. Free unlimited wifi is available. We had a drink in the lounge and a chat with Mara as she booked us on a tour to Fraser Island for the next morning.
Breakfast was excellent, scrambled eggs, bacon, home made sausage, mushroom, tomato, aubergine, ciabatta toast. All fresh ingredients and freshly cooked by Mara herself. Freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly brewed coffee. This was our best breakfast yet on our travels. Ottima la colazione!
Villa Cavour is a short walk from the sea and on our last morning we were up early and had a walk on the beach before breakfast. It is a beautiful, wide expanse of beach at this particular stretch and as the tide was out we were able to walk a long way out towards the sea for a paddle. It was a beautiful, warm sunny morning and very few people were around. We saw fruit bats hanging from the trees and all sorts of noises erupted constantly from them and they became even more excitable when Ibis and cranes and other birds swooped through the trees.
It was time to move on to the next as yet undetermined destination on our journey northwards along the Bruce Highway but we were glad that we had chosen to spend our two nights here. We paid A$165 per night including breakfast for two which we felt was good value.

We stayed for 4 nights at Villa Cavour B&B last week and enjoyed tremendously the hospitality of Mara and Rocco. We were picked up from the airport when we arrived and were given a lift back for our flight home. My 16 year old son likes fishing so Rocco drove us to Urangan Pier one morning, stopping on the way to buy sinkers and hooks, lent us his fishing rods, bucket and gears and taught my son fishing tips. When Mara heard that we forgot to pack an international adaptor for our camera charger, she drove me to town from one shop to another until I found one. Rocco is a great chef and we enjoyed 2 nights of cooking classes and learned to make 6 varieties of fresh pasta, which were then prepared with Rocco’s own recipes. My son tasted for the first time hot chocolate made with REAL chocolate. I really felt like we were staying at a friend’s house and not as paying guests. One morning after breakfast, I took the plates into the kitchen and almost got ready to wash up!! I am sure there are other nice accommodations in Hervey Bay but it is the hospitality of our hosts that makes us want to return some time soon.

We loved our stay at Villa Cavour, Mara was very helpful from the time we booked our reservation. When we arrived Mara was there to help with everything, our breakfasts were incredible, perfect service. Our room was spacious and lovely overlooking the pool. King size bed was the best, so comfortable.

Well, as usual when travelling to new places we hit the trusty Trip Advisor site to make a choice of accommodation and - no surprise - ended up very happy with our selection! (what did we do when travelling to parts unknown before Trip Advisor???)
The idea of the Italian cooking class (based on delicious sounding pastas) really appealed as something a bit different, and it turned out to be very entertaining. There was plenty of room in the functional kitchen for both of us to make the pasta dough under Rocco's expert guidance and he was patient with our rather fumbling efforts - by the time the four types of pasta were filled and ready to cook I couldn't wait to taste them. They were delicious! (A green vegetable or salad to accompany the meal would have taken it to a perfect 10!)
Our room was spacious and comfortable and we kept the doors to the verandah open and the fan on to keep everything cool. Both of us used the swimming pool. Proximity to the Esplanade was a bonus, we used the walking/biking trails both days and all the trees provided welcome shade. We were struck by how friendly the locals all were, either out biking, running or walking their dogs, it was rare not to be greeted by a smile.
Must say that our hard working hostess Mara was delightful, very helpful and accommodating - and nothing was too much trouble for her.
