We stayed in one of the treehouses at Hapuku Lodge for two nights and were blown away by the fantastic facilities. The unique accommodation certainly has the wow factor and the tree house was comfortable, stylish and beautiful. We dined in the restaurant and had...More
Ticks every box for style, gorgeous rooms, fabulous food, attentive and helpful staff and great amenities. Stayed here halfway through our four week tour of New Zealand and it was just what we needed to relax and recharge batteries.
This place is awesome. Look out one side of your room and you see the great ocean, look out the other side of your room and you see the majestic mountains. The dinner and breakfast were very good, along with the service. Would go again...More

The most stunning place to spend some time in. Unique, tasteful design, attention to detail, fabulous food, cosy, comfortable and most of all very friendly. These are just some of the words that spring to mind when I think of our stay here.

There is also very positive news that the main state highway south of Kaikoura (SH1) is likely to be opened before the 20th December.
You could also look at taking a helicopter or fixed wing flight in and out. I can highly recommend this as a way to see the coastline, and is a wonderful experience. Hapuku are offering a significant subsidies for this as I am aware it can be expensive. Trailfinders should be able to give you the full information on this, let me know if they cannot. If you have car hire I am sure they can look at changing it around. It is not like you need it at Bay of Many Coves anyway, and they have a helipad.
