The moment we met Alison, she enveloped us with a warm welcome. She organized the perfect fishing trip for my husband and even prepared the catch afterwards! The home is located with magical views of mountains and the Pacific. The country setting and farm animals are a charming bonus. Our hostesses' local knowledge and care for us while at her...

We had never stayed at a B&B before, so this was a bit of a risk for us. We had two young children with us. We checked in at the kids' bedtime, and were relieved to find a room that had not only enough beds for us, but also the linens/blankets were super inviting/comfortable/cozy. We felt comfortable and welcome. The...

Thank you for your lovely review of Awatea. It was a pleasure to host your family and I am glad your first experience in a bed and breakfast was a pleasant one. We always try to make our guests' stay a home away from home and hope you will travel this way again.

We stayed three nights at Awatea in January and it was excellent. Alison is a very welcoming, matter of fact, hostess and very helpful. Our room had a patio door onto the rear patio which looks out onto a range of hills just inland. We loved to sit there in the evening, with a beer, and watch the sun go...

We spent two nights at Awatea this past week and it was delightful. It is conveniently located just off Highway 1 and easy to find. It is only a short 10 minute drive into the main street of Kaikoura. Awatea is a quiet retreat with various animals in the fields leading up to the house and that gives it a...

Well, what a lovely country retreat 6 kms outside Kaikoura, giving us total respite from driving and people, very relaxing and extremely comfortable. Surrounded by beautiful views and a very warm welcome by the owner Alison, this was a real gem for us. The only observation we wouldmake would be to include some sliced meats, cheese, tomatoes etc with the...

We truly enjoyed the relaxation provided at the very simple Awatea. All the necessary amenities in the room and common area. Allison is truly a delightful host and was wonderful with our little boy. The large backyard was perfect for him to crawl around and he loved the farm animals. The location is very convenient to downtown Kaikoura and Allison...

My partner and I just had a wonderful weekend stay at Awatea Country Bed & Breakfast.
