I stayed here for 2 nights and spent the days traveling plus a walk to the nearby caves. All the rooms and facilities were extremely well looked after and nice little touches such as foot wear to use when going to the caves. Very friendly management and good rates.

This is a pretty little lodge 15 minutes out of town. It's cozy, the beds are comfortable, and the owners are very nice. Bathrooms are clean and bedrooms are big. It's right next to the caves and they even rent caving gear for $7. You need to drive down a bumpy gravel road to get there but it's beautiful and...

You only get here by car. The one-way driveway down to the lodge is only for experienced drivers. Current owners only bought the place couple of years ago, are still improving it. Light build house makes you hear almost everything from the neighbouring room. Still had a good night's sleep.

Myself and parents were wholly impressed by our stay at the little earth lodge. Polly and David the owners were so welcoming and we had a wonderful time chatting to them both. This place is unbelievable value for money, we even got towels included. The rooms, kitchen and bathrooms are very clean and you can't not fall in love with...

Very nice host, very helpful. Room was sufficient. The surrounding is great with glow worm caves nearby the lodge. For $7,- per person you can hire a mining lamp and some water shoes to climb into the caves. For a nice walk go to the Pukenui Forest track and the Whangarei Falls.

We based ourselves at Little Earth Lodge to look around the Whangarei - Russel region and to get a better appreciation of the many attractions on offer. David and Polly have created a little paradise just next to Abbey Caves - a nature reserve featuring three caves and many amazing rock formations. And just a couple of km away is...

David and Polly, you are Fantastic hosts. The facilities are top rate. Good value for money. The best part of the weekend was, no one could disturb us as there is no cell phone coverage. Will definitely visit again. Keith and Pam

My parter and I are devastated that we only have the time to spend one night here. The rooms are super affordable and comfortable, the bathrooms are clean with huge showers, and the lodge and grounds are just stunning. The big window in our room backs onto a lovely view of a paddock with some happy cows. What a gentle...

We spent one night in a cabin, and it was just wonderful. Quite, clean, and with beautiful view. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The kitchen is useful and spacious. Wonderful place for someone who's looking for a quite and welcoming atmosphere.
