This hotel is a real find. Every room is done out beautifully and within character to match the historic building. With a nice bar and restaurant downstairs, continental breakfast included and right in the centre of town...what more could you need!

Me and my partner stayed two nights. The room and bathroom were much larger than expected, plenty of light and very clean. The check in desk never appeared to be open, however the bar staff were more than happy to help. The meals were large and tasty.

We had heard that the food was good at the Rutland arms so decided to try it. First impressions in walking in was it was a bit of a concoction of styles with lots of old artefacts and a strange modern bar counter but no real theme. Hey ho, we didn't come to admire the décor. The service was terribly...

Joined other family members for a meal to celebrate my mother's birthday. It was a Friday night and a busy weekend as The Master's Games was on in Wanganui that week. We did have a booking as there was 10 of us. It took a while to get our orders taken and then for the meals to come out, a...

Situated right in the city centre, which is so convenient, with good off street parking. The rooms are large, tastefully decorated with period furniture and very comfortable. The bathroom is huge with a good shower in our room (No 1.) Could not fault the cleanliness with great room service daily. The continental breakfast, included in the room rate, is excellent...

3 of us decided to come to the Rutland Arms for a dessert. The staff that served us our desserts were lovely and attentive to our needs. We enjoyed sitting in the semi out doors area for the time we were there. Unfortunately it came to a disappointing end as the lady that served me and took payment was bickering...

Stayed 2 nights in The Rutland Arms Whanganui beginning January 2017. It was a spur of the moment break and husband and I decided we would stay in an old Main Street Hotel, the neighbours came along so we booked 2 rooms. We discovered a hotel that has had a major renovation and has tastefully been restored to the former...

We spent a total of 14 nights during our latest visits. We found the management of Travis & Jennifer together with their excellent staff of all levels most hospitable and friendly at all times. We strongly recommend this hotel not only for its accommodation but also its food and drink.
