We were very late arriving having phoned ahead to say so, greeted well by bar person who actually helped with a snack after kitchen closed. Room was fine, a bit dated but ok for the price. We had read up and knew this could be a noisy Hotel but it was empty at our arrival. Bed and pillows really soft...

If you enjoy wheeling your suit case through a busy bar then this is the place for you! No dinner mint left on my pillow but there was what looked like sweet n sour sauce from the previous guest. Don't bring your own soap... there's plenty in the shower.. already used. House keeping is very welcoming even in the morning...

Friendly staff, amazing pub food..really impressed. Rooms how ever were very tired and dated . Basic maintenance not done. Our bathroom ceiling was completely covered in mould. Just needed a spray and wipe. I must say the beds although old were super comfy. Some bulbs missing in lights. Good place to crash if you have had a few bevvies!

Most unwelcome feeling ever. On arrival at 4pm, the reception says 'Closed, see the bar staff' I entered the bar, and negotiated my way through the dimly lit beery atmosphere to the counter. The barista took my reservation paper, and then demanded my credit card - but this was a business trip booked from Auckland so of course I had...

Whilst there are many flash restaurants in Palmerston North, the Empire Hotel suited us for a great steak at a reasonable price. The staff were attentive, the food most enjoyable, and the atmosphere relaxing, as a pub should be. Would certainly pay a return visit when next in Palmerston North

Not recommendable. It was an awful stay. Everything was horrible. People running in front of our room screaming as loud as possible at 1am, the room was dirty and we had to change the room because the first key broke and the second one didn't work ...

This hotel doesn't pretend to be anything that it isn't. Clean rooms , friendly staff and good honest pub food, all at very reasonable prices. If noise is an issue ask for one of the premium rooms for an extra $8 a night.

My room cost $75 and had a double bed and two singles. Quite dated, especially the bathroom, but bedding was cleaning and plentiful towels. It was within easy walk of restaurants and cafes. The hotel warns guests that it is very noisy Thursday to Saturday nights and I stayed a Wednesday night and there was loud music until 2am. An...

This time though unfortunatly they have done away with there VERY POPULAR $15 meals and complimentry drink. We stayed and still had a good enjoable meal but cost us double this time. We...
