Property listing is misleading. No garden view - you look out to a bare garden and the patio has a few potted plants. Hardly a garden. Soundproofing is non-existant as there is a interconnecting door to the house kitchen allowing cooking smells and low-level noise to be heard. Kitchenette is non-existant - a frig with microwave on top and a small side table for jug & toaster does not constitute a kitchenette. No sink. Basic breakfast and food items in a wardrobe which also contains owner's clothes. You have to wash dishes in a plastic basin in the bathroom. Patio needed sweeping with leaf litter and dust. Initially no ironing board despite listing stating 'ironing facilities'. The owner supplied an ironing board the following morning. Cooling / heating cannot be controlled by guests - the owner controls the switch and sets the timing. Too bad if you want to turn it on during the night or if they are out during the day.

We had a wonderful stay at Forest Retreat, and brought our dog with us. We were warmly welcomed by Steve, who was expecting us and showed us through our room. He is very relaxed and will leave you be unless you need anything. The room was comfortable, warm and well set-up. We had everything we needed for the weekend including breakfast, games, dvds, tea and coffee and a mini kitchen. This is a great place to go if you want a comfortable base for a busy weekend. The adjacent forest is stunning, you can walk right down to the river and have a good explore. Best of all, we could bring our dog with us to enjoy a mini-getaway. Thank you Steve and Meg, for your hospitality.

This place was a real treat. Best of all they are very dog friendly! The owners, Meg and Steve, are very accommodating and helpful. They can provide helpful tips about places to walk, to see, to eat and drink. The accomodation itself, in the Garden Room, was small but exactly the right size for a greyhound and a couple. The bathroom is well sized with a large shower that had great pressure and heat. The room had a fridge and was stocked with juice, milk and various breakfast items that were all included with the room. The bed was comfy and has a beautiful view of the garden and then of the forest across the street which has a lovely path for a dog walk to the river. I would highly recommend this for couples or solo travellers looking for a homey and private place to lay their heads. You feel like your way out of town with the view, but really you're only a short walk, and even shorter drive, away from town.

My wife and our pet had a wonderful, relaxing time at the Forest Retreat. Read-made kitchen with tea, coffee, snacks, candy, cheese, etc. Very quite location, right near a small, woodsy area. I highly recommend it for a quick retreat!

After reading great reviews I booked my husband, 7 year old and myself here for 2 nights. It's clean, cosy and well equipped. Great location and breakfast was supplied. Probably not enough for the 3 of us for 2 breakfasts (we ran out of milk and there was none of the yoghurt I'd read about in other reviews) but I'm sure our hosts would have got us more if we'd asked. Steve, one of the owners was very friendly and helpful. Will we be back? Yes!

We loved our one night stay at the forrest retreat. Hosts were lovely, room was excellent & location was perfect for bush walks and walking into Margaret River. No garden for the dogs but we take ours everywhere with su so this was no issue for us :)

Great little B and B, close to the town. The four of us booked out both rooms and combined our breakfasts to have them together in the larger room with the kitchen. The yoghurts and fresh local breads were delicious, we loved the DIY aspects of the breakfast. We had some car trouble during our stay and Steve and Meg were so helpful even offering their car for us to use and were kind enough to post back a forgotten phone charger. Would definitely recommend this B and B.

We loved our little courtyard and our private area to sit. The location is great for walking into town and the trees across the road attract the most beautiful singing birds. The Garden room is very small and the breakfast dishes need to be washed in the bathroom sink (not my style at all) Maybe the breakfast dishes could be washed by the host? Also the breakfast could have some improvements: a half eaten pot of jam is not really hygienic...though we did get a new butter. The yogurt was yummy....and the bread....and the fresh plunger coffee....but for the rest there was not a lot of effort put in to breakfast. I feel that a better use of the fabulous local produce would have improved things drastically for the money we paid. Also, the room was quite dusty...not great for someone with a dust allergy. Our host was friendly and welcoming Thank you Overall we enjoyed our stay, but will not be picking this B and B again

What an amazing be and breakfast. The room is beautiful, great size, kitchen with all appliances and a verandah. We took out staffy dog she was more than welcome. Stu, the owner is a great person very friendly and polite. The breakfast food all great quality. The only downside was internet that has a very week signal in the room. We told stu and he said they are upgrading. We loved and recommend.

The location of this is fabulous. A short stroll to Margaret river shops but even better you are right on top of the river walks. Great way to start and end the end the day with a little dog. It's so nice to be able to stay somewhere and your dog to feel as welcome as we were. Steve and Meg made you feel so at home. We had free range eggs in the fridge, lovely bread, cereals, juice, proper coffee and a plunger and tastiest yoghurt. The towels were proper big ones and rest of linen was of good quality. This attention to detail in the quality of everything was really appreciated. Thanks for a great stay.
