We are a family of a married couple with 3 adult children, and stayed in two rooms for almost a week in the middle of winter (late June). The property is a few minutes drive from the town centre. Possibly a nice cycle during the warmer seasons. The rooms we were in were breathtakingly spacious. And have enough amenities to keep one busy indoors. But why would you when there is a picturesque garden, also visited by wildlife, at your door step? There are limited but enough facilities and amenities for a comfortable stay. However, the customer service you will receive from the small pleasant team is exceptional. We strongly recommend checking with the Manor on their full list of facilities and to discuss your needs to avoid disappointments. Overall, if you are looking for something different from your modern apartments that heavily rely on self-serve facilities and impersonal service, competing for amenities with multiple families, then this might be worth considering. A home away from home. A quiet getaway. This review is also posted on Google.…
Basildene Manor is elegant and welcoming and the friendly staff make you feel right at home immediately. Our room was in the Manor and the king sized bed was wonderfully comfortable. We loved our view over the gorgeous gardens to the forest beyond from our room. Our 4 day stay was not really long enough as we were really feeling like we could stay forever. Breakfast is served in a beautifully sunny conservatory style room overlooking the landscaped garden. Breakfast was so fresh and delicious and the hot foods served to the table. There was even a really nice touch of cake for afternoon tea. I loved sitting in the cosy lounge by the fire in the evenings doing one of the jigsaw puzzles made available. All the staff seem so happy in their work and that lovely buzz really adds life to the whole experience. If left my favourite pillow behind and Rachel went to a lot of trouble organising to have it sent on to me. I was so grateful for that and she was so kind and helpful. Amazing! We will not forget our excellent experience staying at Basildene Manor and we're already planning a return trip with friends. Thank you also to Ben and the other lovely ladies for making our stay such fun. …
Our room was spacious and comfortable - great pillows. Set in beautiful grounds it is a short drive to Margaret River township where there are some fabulous restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great
Beautiful as in the stay, the surroundings and staff. Ben was great and suggested the lovely meats with our wine which was very nice. We later visited the place and purchased meats to take home which everyone loved. The staff are always helpful. Breakfast was lovely. The accomodation is lovely I did book the smaller room but Daniela helped me with choosing the room for next time, back again in August for a week. Nothing is eve4 too much.
Excellent stay . Friendly staff and a special mention to Ben who went out of his way to help me with my interest of the history of the house. Breakfast was brilliant . We had the most enjoyable and memorable experience.
What a special & tranquil place. The hotel is small, unique & very lovely & is set in beautiful gardens The staff, without exception, were friendly & nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was served in a lovely room overlooking the garden with a good variety of choices - try the Eggs Brie ! We met several people who were there on return visits & it’s easy to understand why. The parting gift of some delicious fluffy scones to take with us was a very thoughtful touch.
What a wonderful stay we had at Basildene Manor! The staff were so kind and really looked after us. We were even surprised with a parting gift. The breakfast is probably the best à la carte and buffet breakfast we’ve had in all of Oceania. We only spent a couple of days but we loved Margaret River and the Manor is perfectly located. If you enjoy staying in character buildings with a story and everything that comes with that you’ll love this property as much as we did.
The room was clean, but very basic in terms of amenities for a luxury establishment, and the furniture in the room was worn out and looked as if it had seen better days. However, what really took the cake and made our stay extremely unpleasant, was the ridiculously tiny size of the room that we stayed in (Chenin room). For a supposedly luxury establishment, the room we were given was so tiny that when we opened the bathroom door (situated at the foot of the bed) the door would block our path if we wanted to access the other side of the bed. There was barely enough space on the room floor for my wife and I to open both our suitcases at the same time without having to literally jump over our suitcases to get into bed. It was really disappointing that a room at the #1-ranked luxury hotel in Margaret River was more expensive, and yet tinier in size than every other hotel in the area. I would describe Basildene Manor as an overpriced bed & breakfast, and definitely not as the luxury hotel establishment that they claim to be.…
We spent three days at Basildene Manor and loved every moment. It certainly doesn’t look or feel like part of a hotel chain situated as it is in a 1912 stone building (plus sympathetic addition). And they take COVID seriously with lots of sanitiser available and with a fortress-like screen at the front desk. Staff, without exception, are friendly and helpful. Our room overlooked the stunning gardens and was very comfortable. Comfy bed, tv, bedside tables, small fridge and built-in robe with safe and ironing board. And a nice bathroom with a shower that was very good. The only downside in the bathroom was the lack of shelving but we worked around that. The towels were soft. The gardens are stunning with manicured lawns, roses, an ancient oak, established trees, clipped hedges and the most beautiful crepe myrtles. There's also a pool and a bbq area. All very well done. Breakfast is very nice and served in a glassed conservatory overlooking the gardens. Cereal, a choice of cooked meals (all very tasty), juices, fresh fruit, fruit compote etc.. An urn for tea and a snazzy coffee-making machine. This area is also available outside breakfast hours for tea/coffee and biscuits. Very popular. There are also two small lounge area for guests. Include on-wood fires. Very nice on a cold day. Highly recommended.…
We had a most awesome stay at the Grand Mercure Basildene Manor. King Suit was everything you could want. Grounds and facilities where amazing and had that old english country charm and all the staff where friendly and welcoming at all times. We would definitely consider returning for another stay in the future 😁
