We spent 4 enjoyable nights at character filled Admiral Stirling Inn. This place is no cookie-cutter soulless hotel. A collection of cute, different, ship-themed rooms in a two-storey wooden building just behind Margaret River’s Main Street. Our double room suited us with a teen who wanted his own space. Two bedrooms with an ensuite between them. Air con, tv and fridge in both bedrooms. The price was good too! The rooms have lovely wood framed windows and doors. Our rooms were downstairs and there was some noise from our neighbours upstairs but it didn’t worry us. If you can’t use stairs, ensure you book a room downstairs. We loved being able to walk easily to all cafes and shops on the Main Road. Especially when the traffic was so crazy! We also enjoyed walking along the Margaret River, easy to access the path from the Inn. There is a common area (The Engine Room) with kitchen and picnic tables if you want to bring takeaway food back to the Inn. I recommend booking to eat at delicious La Scarpetta and Pizzica if you visit during school holidays. They are very popular.

Location was fantastic, check-in had no issues and the rooms were ok. My main reason for 2/5 stars was cleanliness; there were stains/marks on walls that wiped off with no effort and the bathroom had filthy floors and shower screens. Rooms have quite thin walls so if you like a sleep in then you may struggle. I would have given 2.5/5 as it was well priced and in a great location but 1/2 stars are not an opinion. Rooms had A/C, fridge and smallTV, Recommended only if you can’t find somewhere else or are on a budget.

I got the rooms named bridge 6+7, which was perfect for two people travelling together, but are not partners. The two beds were in separated rooms with the bathroom in the middle. Wry cute balcony outside the doors! Friendly staff. Parking for free outside. Would love to come back :)

We planned a last minute getaway for 3 days, 2 nights. We were given a single bedroom with bathroom on the top floor - which meant walking up about 20 steps to our room. The steps are not covered, and as it was raining heavily during our stay, this was treacherous going, especially for over 55's with arthritis. That aside, the room itself was clean and tidy with a view looking out over a laneway where the garbage bins and skip bins are located, and where the carparking is available. The bathroom was easily accessible, and also clean and tidy. Being winter, we were provided with loads of doonas, a reverse-cycle air conditioning unit affixed directly above the bed, and the bed had an electric blanket. Unfortunately, the electric blanket didn't work - but wasn't required on this occasion in any event. The TV is a bit small, and located on a desk - not comfortable to watch from bed. Plenty of room for small luggage and belongings to be kept during stay, and loads of shelf space in the bathroom for makeup, face cleaning, tooth brushes etc. As a cold front blew in while we were there - we suspect that is the reason why there was no hot water. We assume the pilot light blew out - but it decreased our enjoyment a great deal. In addition, we never did get Wifi to connect - received the message "try moving closer". Proximity to everything is very good - restaurants, cafes, breweries etc. A great central spot to be located of an evening, and an easy place to depart from on day trips to wineries, lighthouses, neighbouring towns, cheese and chocolate factories. The room also had access to a downstairs common area with additional facilities, though there are ample coffee making facilities in the room itself. I would stay again - but I would be wanting hot water, and wifi. The reception check in was quick and easy, the staff always polite and helpful. A slight noise issue with other guests talking loudly in the early hours, but on this occasion they were mostly drowned out by the heavy downpours on the tin roof.

This hotel/motel was clean and quite central to Margaret River centre but the rooms were very small with little storage space such that it was difficult to empty your case during your stay. The decor was very dated it was like a forest lodge.

Our first time at Admiral Stirling Inn for an overnight stay to attend a wedding in Margaret River. We stayed in the "Officer Quarter" facing the side road, a triple room with a Queen & double bed. Pros: - The customer services were excellent, with good communication & attentive to our needs (eg we need to check in earlier to get to the wedding, and also requested a baby cot for our 10mth old, which was free). - The location was great as it's at the top end of town, and a lovely old-style timber and nautical feel - The room is rustic, and there are enough essential amenities for an overnight stay. - There is a famous pizzeria right next door - Check in & check out was a breeze if you follow the instruction to find the reception across the road, with a Key Drop-off box for early departure Cons: - while we understand it's not a reflection on the management, the paper thin walls was our biggest issues, especially when we have a baby. It could be bad timing because we stayed during the school holidays, and we were startled a few times by the loud stomping noises from the guests staying on the second floor (it's a wooden flooring unfortunately) throughout our time in the room - we were also disturbed by loud conversations after midnight from guests coming back to their rooms, whom ended up talking loudly right outside our windows rather inconsideratebly for almost 30min. We were trying very hard to keep our baby insulated from the noise, and hence minimise our movement and did not get up to ask the guests to quieten down for the whole time - There was a leaking tap in the bathroom which we only found out after returning late from the wedding, so did not get a chance to call management to fix - the door handle to the bathroom was also faulty, and making creaky noise that could easily wake a sleeping baby Overall, good value for the location & the room, but please bring ear plugs for a better night sleep.

One night only as was planned! Would liked to have stayed longer but time was short! Great staff in reception. Clean and tidy room - in the middle of town! Parking easy off laneway. Easy access to room. Very picaresque! recommended.

This was a good choice for a one night stay in Margaret River. The comfortable room had quaint and nautical decor and the room had a nice view of trees, with the sound of birds rather than traffic. The location was excellent as it was an easy stroll to the Main Street. The only drawback was the reception was hard to find upon arrival and the car parking was a bit of a challenge.

I’ve literally just arrived back from another awesome trip to Margs, it’s like my second home now. I’ve stayed at the Admiral Stirling numerous times and this time didn’t disappoint. The rooms are so homely and comfortable, the staff are so helpful and amazing. It was my birthday last week so I decided to treat myself to a weekend away and instantly thought Admiral was best suited to me again. They even left me a delicious box of chocolates as a birthday gift. Admiral is so close to town to walk, shop, eat and have great coffee, also very close to rotary park to go bush walking. I can’t recommend Admiral enough. I will definitely be back there. Thanks guys! 😃

The reception is round the corner and manages three accomodation zones, but on arrival signage to the reception was easy to spot. Plenty of parking was available though some of the lanes are extremely tight. My friend and I stayed in one of the upstairs cabins, two single bedrooms separated by a shared bathroom. One bedroom had the heated blanket the other had the air conditioning. I guess one was the summer and the other the winter room? The bathroom was nice and roomy, though the shower did leak in the corner. Pressure and temperature was plentiful. Only one TV worked. Lack of communal area (there was a communal balcony area) was disappointing. Sleeping wasn't really an issue, though the nights were mild even for May. Noise travels pretty well, so my companion did miss out on a nights sleep from one of the other units. Location is excellent, all of Margaret River within walking distance. Great jump off point for visiting the region. Worth staying if on offer.

Response from Margaretriverside, Front Office Manager at Admiral Stirling Inn

Thank your for your review. I will pass on to housekeeping to ensure both beds have an electric blanket and also to maintenance to ensure both TV's are working. We do have quite a large communal kitchen and undercover BBQ area with plenty of seating which is located downstairs from the room you were staying in. Once again, we do thank you for informing us of your stay as we do take all our reviews seriously and we hope to see you again soon.
