A great B&B on a bush block. It was very quiet and peaceful and about a 7 minute drive into Margaret River town. Beautifully clean room and a modern bathroom with a spa bath. Dirk the host was very friendly and helpful suggesting things to do around the area and provided maps. The continental breakfast was just right and included all types of home made bread, a coffee machine and fresh fruit in separate pots to be covid safe.
The hosts' attention to detail to make their customers feel safe and welcome was outstanding. I would certainly stay again and highly recommend this B&B.

We stayed here while we were holidaying in W.A, as we wanted to stay at a place with a spa for my birthday but there wasn't anything available up above Perth so we were super happy to have found this place in Margret River we were going to stay for one night but we ended up staying two! It was so close to everything we wanted to explore in the area. Dirk was very friendly and found out what we were interested in and suggested places to go. Our room was very cosy and spotless, it had a great heater because it was cold weather while we were there, a comfy bed, an amazing large spa bath, and also shower and i was so happy that they have rain water something I had missed from back home. The view from the room and bath was amazing and we loved been surrounded by all the beautiful plants. The breakfast they serve in the morning was just the best, you defiantly don't need to order anything on the optional menu because they have thought of everything we couldn't believe it, and they have like 9 different types of home made bread that makes great toast. It was great sitting at one of many tables and watching the birds having a feed and drink out the front. We often think back about this place and would love to come back and stay when we come to W.A again one day. Now to find a place like this in S. A..? !

Excellent location just off Caves Road and a short drive to the town centre. My wife and I stayed in the Redgate suite and it was wonderful and met all our needs. The B&B is in a quiet location surrounded by natural bush. The continental breakfast was a delightful surprise with a variety of homemade breads, fruit, cereals and amazing honey from their own beehives. The dining room had lovely views of the bush and there were many wrens feeding outside the window. Pam and Dirk Has are lovely hosts and provided great information on things to do and see in the Margaret River region.

The property is in a lovely location. The location does restrict opportunity to eat out if you have a rental car (no driving in the dark). We found the B&B without issues and found our room with the key sticking out of the door. We quickly realised the owners are still operating under a Covid sensitive setting- initially this was little interaction and lots of things in plastic, later the breakfast questioning of what guests were doing and suggestions for activities seemed in conflict with that. In the room there was information indicating sleep was important and how there are blackout curtains and super sound insulation. Our experience found the blinds to let a lot of light in, the windows were single glazed, the interior doors are basic and let all sound through as well as certain light. The hosts had family staying and the banging of doors and voices could be heard quite clearly as well as the baby crying. I would not normally highlight this, but the boasting on the website set expectations of a really quiet setup.. I would suggest removing this. Breakfast was disappointing. Homemade bread slices were halved and placed in plastic bags, as was the ham. Cheese was provided by those kids triangles of processed cheese. The bread sounded like a nice idea and full marks for effort, but frankly the bread was cake-like in consistency and not very nice. Would have loved to have bought my own bread in to at least have a good breakfast. Best part was the honey. We did bring food in the evenings and there is cutlery provided and the hosts clean the plates etc (no kitchen sink etc available for guests) which was lovely. BBQ was a little aged and not very clean. There are charges for cooked breakfast, laundry, BBQ extras. All in all comfortable, but there are promises on the website which reality does not support. The wildlife was spectacular with a visit by a kangaroo with joey !

Dear Griso_man from Rottweil. Thanks for your review. Sorry we did not meet your expectations, however, we do try. We understand that European city drivers are often a bit daunted by our country roads without street lighting but you are allowed to drive your hire car at night and you’ll soon get used to it. At this time of the year it is still light till 8pm, ample time for you to have a meal in the town which is only 5 minutes away. We also apologise for only having single glaze windows, however, you will rarely find double glazing in any house in Australia. We like to call the B&B an adult retreat and normally do not allow children. But in the instance you mentioned, a family snuck in two children without mentioning it in their booking and there was not much we could do. Also, it is illegal to turn away couples with a baby. The doors to the rooms are extra heavy and the ceilings are theatre grade plasterboard and the walls are double brick. But still, because there are no other noises, sometimes you can hear people in the other rooms. But as we are set in a forest, at night there is very little noise at all, except the wind in the trees, the sound of surf 4km away when the wind is right, possums having a hissy fit or an owl hooting. And as you discovered, sometimes kangaroos thumping about on the lawn. We do wonder at your expectations for a continental breakfast. In Germany we have never experienced a spread anywhere near what we provide. But obviously you have. Going from left to right on the bench is a full range of cereals, muesli bars, nuts and seeds and instant porridge, stewed pears and prunes or some fresh fruit salad in special glass cannisters. 3 different juices, soy and almond milk and 5 different yoghurts and ordinary full cream milk. As you note, we still are maintaining Covid-safe practices by having all food covered and individually wrapped. A range of teas or espresso coffee. A microwave to heat up your instant porridge and a toaster. 9-11 different breads, some a few days old but slices are individually in ziplock bags and kept in a refridgerator so fresh but toasted even better. We serve the Laughing Cow cheese triangles that you appear to laugh at because it is easy to spread and big kids like it as well. More importantly it is hygienically wrapped, as is the salami (2 types) and some ham. Only in Holland will you find cold meats and cheese served in a continental breakfast, and only in the better hotels. To say that our bread is cake-like in consistency may be appropriate for our cinnamon bread, banana bread or pumpkin bread, but disingenuous for our staple breads. A choice of white, wholemeal, multigrain and “german” are all made in breadmaking machines from top quality bread mixes by us. I don’t know of anyone else that would describe these as cake-like. We also serve a Craisin and Rosemary bread, a Fruit bread and a herb bread with fresh herbs from our garden. You seemed to enjoy the itineraries that we prepared for you to explore the region. Here in Western Australia, people are much more relaxed about intermingling with other people, as we are all vaccinated and mostly have then had Covid and have tales of long Covid etc. We do maintain Covid-safe practices but not that they intrude. It seems this was also short of your expectations. A new website is on its way and maybe we can tone down some of the expectations. But we are sure for the rest of your holiday here in Australia you will be able to relax and perhaps we won’t be the only accommodation provider that fails your expectations.

We stayed there as my partner was competing in the Ultra marathon and it was a reasonable price close to town.
Check in was smooth with a warm gretting.
The room was a god size and we mainly booked for the spa bath, it looks out onto the garden area (spa bath is beautiful thank you). There is a patio with chairs you can sit and watch the local wildlife in the garden areas.
Breakfast was good- homemade breads and lots to choose from. My partner had the cooked breakfast- which looked and smelled Devine - he confirmed this by inhaling it down in a few seconds aha.
Hosts were perfect, very accomodating and happy t give local pointers and advice in places to visit. My partner unfortunately hurt his ankle whilst running and hosts were very helpful even giving us an ice pack :).
The property is close to town you could walk it if you wished it’s about a 5 or so min drive!
We would return here on future trips down south for sure.

Could not have asked for a better place to have spent our night at Margaret River.

Place was very well kept with an extremely comfortable bed, huge toilet, and an attached balcony opening into the surrounding greenery.

Dirk is an excellent and welcoming host and prepared a lovely continental breakfast spread, including some homemade bread and honey which were delicious. You can even buy some of his homemade honey! He also gave us many fantastic tips on how to plan our itinerary, and provided a local map with annotated directions.

Would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a place to stay at Margaret River!

There are four merits just came up of my mind that I must mention in this review. First, located in a bushy environment, it has tranquil surroundings with their exquisite garden to stroll idly. Second, the room is equitted with nice spa facility in a spacious bathroom together with a comfy huge bed. Third, the breakfast is simple but offers a variety of choices: homemade bread, honey, some fresh fruits and yogurts with different favors and etc. A good day always start with a good brekky, doesn't it? Plus, it's really chilling to pet Bella while taking a sip of coffee. Last but foremost, Dirk the host was so friendly to us and gave us heaps of travel suggestions. We also learned a lot from him as Dirk is knowledgeable and knows a lot of things. Pam the hostess is such a pro in handling her little garden and a bird-lover (feeding those birdies with a easily-installed bottle gadget filling with sugar water). All in all, it's a lovely place to rest and relax. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends!

No-one was there to greet us on arrival. Our room had been changed but I wasn't told. There was a key in a door but not the Ellenbrook I had booked, so we were confused! Luckily a guest appeared who was staying in the Ellenbrook room and he said there was a room change so we assumed (correctly) that our room was indeed the one with the key in the door. Consequently it was all sorted before Dirk got back.
The website states a special offer for a three night stay but evidently this is no longer available. Also it mentions port every night but we were never offered that either.... although I didn't really want to be socialising so we probably wouldn't have partaken. There was a welcome glass of wine on arrival if you wanted it.
Basically the website is very out of date so don't rely on its accuracy.
Good choice of breakfast and they tried to be as Covid friendly as possible by putting items in individual bags. The website lists the cooked options too but it doesn't say that they're chargeable!!
Table settings fairly spaced out.
The rooms weren't serviced unless you asked for anything which suited us very well.
There was an annoying puppy which was only very young so kept jumping up and probably shouldn't have been in the food area.
Lovely location and I particularly enjoyed the early morning birdsong.
Comfy bed.
Confusing TV to operate even with instructions.
Good internet.
Nice big bathroom with bath and shower and separate toilet.
Nice patio area overlooking bushland.
Dirk was an extremely willing host and would offer suggestions and highlight where to go on the map. While this was of course helpful I found it uncomfortable as it meant he was closer than we had been with people in a bid to stay well on our trip.
Unfortunately guests were coughing and sneezing so I couldn't wait to leave in the end although we did enjoy the Margaret River area.
This is most likely the last time I will book a B&B as they are too 'intimate' for comfort in these difficult travel times.
No-one wore a mask when they were clearly unwell and it's impossible to avoid coughs and sneezes when sharing a breakfast room.
Despite everything this is a lovely property in a very peaceful location.

Dear Pearl65, Thanks for your very detailed review and glad you enjoyed yourselves in the end. We have self check in when we are not there but forgot to leave a note out to tell you what room you are in. Sorry about that. We sometimes do have to change rooms to allow other rooms to be taken for more than a day or so. As we only have 4 rooms there can be gaps in the bookings, otherwise people wanting to stay longer have to change rooms and that is difficult booking online. But all our rooms are virtually identical. We are in the process of building a new website so the current one is out of date. We now have King beds and have re-carpeted the rooms so all the room photos are out of date as well. If you call us when booking, we are very happy to offer a discount. It seems you did not see the port. It is there in the sideboard and you can help yourself to a glass but you can also ask for it. We weren’t aware that you were still very cautious about contact with strangers. We were the same earlier on, but now we are much more relaxed. Although we have maintained many of our Covid-safe protocols. I’m sure as time goes on you will also relax a bit more and I hope you do continue to book B&Bs as hosted accommodation is much more enjoyable than any other type of accommodation. All the best, Pam and Dirk

Could only stay one night, but would have stayed another day if my schedule afforded it. There are 4 rooms, all similarly sized and equipped. Ellenbrook and Cowaramup are nearest to the dining room, and are the first 2 along the corridor, so book the other 2 rooms if you wish for more privacy. However my stay was quiet and even though I was in one of these rooms, and the place was at full occupancy, i never heard any noise.

The bathtub is luxurious, Pam even provides bath salts. What a great day to relax after a cold rainy day! The grounds of the property even had chickens and other pretty flowers.

The blinds around my bathtub were somewhat broken/tilted however, which left a gap where you could look through the window outside, or someone outside could peep in, and that did make me feel a tad insecure when soaking in the tub. The light in my room was also a bit dimmer than the other rooms i passed. One suggestion would also be to provide a nightlight for guests to find their way to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Sleep is a priority here, and the property owners even have a whole writeup about how to achieve the best possible night's sleep. This alone is worth coming for. the bed is a bit sunken in the middle but still comfortable and warm

Breakfast --I was expecting a cooked hot breakfast when booking the room. Perhaps the site I booked on was not clear about this. Breakfast consists of homemade breads, cereal, oatmeal, yoghurt, but a hot breakfast costs extra and needs to be arranged.

Hi, Thanks for your enquiry. The room has a queen double bed in it but we can put a foldaway bed into the room. It goes alongside the queen bed and is quite comfortable. We charge extra for this, depending on how long you are staying. Send me an email or call and I'll give you a special quote. Regards, Pam and Dirk margaret river bnb

Hi Lee-Ann. Thanks for your query. We have a large lounge room just for the guests and it has a gas-log fire that can be turned on for warmth and atmosphere. The room has a good R/C air conditioner that also warms up the room very well but it doesn't quite match it for atmosphere. Please call if you have any further queries.
