I took a few weeks to write this post but I told myself I must review =) My family and I stayed in the Gumnut Cottage in June for 2 nights. Right from booking to arrival at the Holiday Cottages, Andrew assisted and gave us excellent help and advices! Thanks for informing us to gear up as the woods was really cold. The cottage was clean and big enough to fit family of 9 (6 adults and 3 kids). We enjoyed the animal feeding at 8am too! The activities room were good with a heated pool and some games (even my 60 years old dad had a great pool time). The location is very close to the town where we can find food easily (better to make a reservation if tou are going on weekends). We hope to be back soon. The stay left us a deep impression and we enjoyed ourselves alot! Thank you Andrew!…
We got everything we expected from booking a farm stay here…… and more!!! My kids had so much fun with the friendly animals that every morning the feeding ( and the truck ride ) was their highlight of the day. The cottage was unassuming but comfortable enough for us to have a good night rest. Location was just a short drive to the city centre and we also had the “mini-campfire” at night where kids get to bbq their marshmallows. Of course, Andrew and Jules were also a big plus in our stay with their hospitality. Their attention to small details are really very commendable and Andrew also shared with me he is going to start a noodle cupboard for the guests! I can go on and on with all the positives but guess it’s best you go and have a stay to find it out yourself! 😎
I cannot write enough good things about this place. Andrew and team have thought of everything someine would need, and have provided them too! The cottages are clean, self contained, warm on a cold autumn day. Nice trails to hike around the compound, and the animals are friendly. They learn from the host! Great place to stay in Margaret river.
Just got home after staying 5 nights in the Gumnut cottage with 5 kids (aged between 2 and 8) and I honestly can't recommend this place highly enough. The cottage we stayed in had everything we needed for a comfortable stay including comfy beds, a washing machine, a fully equipped kitchen and nice hot showers. As well as being in a super convenient location close to town, the grounds are beautiful with lots of friendly animals roaming about, bushwalking trails nearby, fantastic facilities including a play room with a pool table and a lovely warm indoor pool which our kids loved. The animal feeding in the morning was fun for the kids and informative for the adults. There is so much to do there you could easily fill your days and entertain the kids without ever needing to leave! Also, despite the place no doubt being fully booked whilst we were there it was very quiet and peaceful and we felt like we had the place to ourselves for most of it. Andrew and his family are all so kind and helpful, and his 3 kids are also very friendly. We felt they went above and beyond to make sure we all enjoyed our stay and couldn't have asked for a better place to relax with our family. We hope to return one day soon! Thanks again for a fantastic stay.…
Amazing!!! Great family friendly cottage stay. We stayed for 4 nights and had a timber cottage and it was fantastic. We’ll set up cottages. Friendly family who run it. Thanks Drew, Jules, your kids and lisa. Your hospitality is awesome. The animals roam free and are great to go and pat at anytime during the day. Feed time every morning which is good. Truck rides are fun, fire out. Movie night. Heated pool , tables games, dvd to borrow with games and trail walks are great at day or night… prime location to the town and many things you want to see while there. Highly Recommend you try this place. We took teenagers and they loved the animals and freedom of the farm as well.
We had an absolutely incredible stay at M/R Holiday Cottages. The property is so conveniently placed 5 minutes out of town in an idyllically peaceful setting but close to some amazing wine farms. Our 3yr old had so much fun feeding the farm animals each morning. It was the highlight of her holiday. She also enjoyed the playground and heated pool. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed to prepare our own meals and we loved sipping wine alongside our log fire in the cabin. Our hosts, Andrew and Jules, were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and we really appreciated their incredible hospitality and excellent suggestions of how to get the most out of our four day break. Not only did we come home with unforgettable memories of our first trip to Margaret River, we also arranged with Jules to do a family photo shoot on the farm and now have amazing pictures to capture the wonders of our trip. Thank you and we will definitely be back!…
This beautiful piece of nature is hidden just a moments drive from both Margaret River main town and multiple wineries. We visited with another family, with four young children between us. The morning animal feeding and evening fire pit were a big hit with all of us. The cottage was warm and cosy and equipped with everything we needed. It even had a big bag of toys for the kids! The hospitals shown by Andrew and his family was so warm and genuine - we will definitely be back!
We have just returned from a fabulous week here. We stayed in a timber cottage which was clean, comfortable and well equipped. It was a cold wet muddy week but the pool was actually warm and we had a reverse cycle air conditioner and log fire so we could quickly dry everything. We had so much to do at the accommodation our children aged 10 and 12 did not want to leave to go on day trips. They loved helping Andrew with the animals and could have spent all day doing that, but also enjoyed the pool, the nature walk, toasting marshmallows, playing shops in the cubby house, and possum spotting. The owners are committed to making it a great experience and I would recommend getting in touch before you go..
What a gem of a place! My partner and I stayed at Margaret River Holiday Cottages in February and had the most amazing time. We've stayed at many different accommodations in Margaret river from basic to luxury and this was by far our favourite. The team are so lovely and down to earth, warm and welcoming. Thanks for the chats and chilling out with us. The cabin was lovely, had everything we needed, loved sitting on the little front verandah enjoying breakfast with the birds whistling in the trees. The rescue farm animals are fabulous - donkeys, sheep, alpacas, cows, chickens and more we had such great interactions with them - from feeding them to putting the chickens to bed at night and just chilling with a drink in the beautiful grounds with Kimmy the cow in the arvo. Bindi put on an outdoor movie night which was great fun - projector, old school couches and blankets - we just brought our wine and popcorn. Enjoyed a couple of games of pool in the games room too. Its also close to everything, including the town centre only 5 mins away. Highly recommend staying here - its perfect for couples, a girls weekend away and families too. We'll be back again this month!…
My self and my partner had the most relaxing and wonderful time celebrating our two year anniversary at this beautiful location. Andrew, Jules and family are so welcoming, kind and helpful with anything needed, from something simple to recommending lovely little coffee and food spots minutes away from the cosy little cottages you stay in. Jules is a very talented women herself with amazing photography skills that will leave you breathless as her work is dotted throughout the cosy cottages of the beautiful spots around the Margaret river area, and I highly recommended booking a session with her in their stunning location as the bushland makes for a wonderful backdrop to get all cosy with the family, or for those wanting to ask a very special question, as what happen to myself. Both Jules and Andrew made sure it was an experience or should I say a proposal to remember... All over it was a beautiful time away and we were very sad to be returning home but we cannot wait to return to this beautiful location, and see all the seasons and the beautiful animals too.…
