Just got home after staying 5 nights in the Gumnut cottage with 5 kids (aged between 2 and 8) and I honestly can't recommend this place highly enough. The cottage we stayed in had everything we needed for a comfortable stay including comfy beds, a washing machine, a fully equipped kitchen and nice hot showers. As well as being in a super convenient location close to town, the grounds are beautiful with lots of friendly animals roaming about, bushwalking trails nearby, fantastic facilities including a play room with a pool table and a lovely warm indoor pool which our kids loved. The animal feeding in the morning was fun for the kids and informative for the adults. There is so much to do there you could easily fill your days and entertain the kids without ever needing to leave! Also, despite the place no doubt being fully booked whilst we were there it was very quiet and peaceful and we felt like we had the place to ourselves for most of it. Andrew and his family are all so kind and helpful, and his 3 kids are also very friendly. We felt they went above and beyond to make sure we all enjoyed our stay and couldn't have asked for a better place to relax with our family. We hope to return one day soon! Thanks again for a fantastic stay.

Hi Lauren, thank you so much for sharing such a lovely story with others. we're so pleased you could make the most of your time in Gumnut cottage, and of course spending time on the farm and using the facilities we have on offer! I'm glad our 3 kids Bella Jonah and Maxi all made you feel welcome also, they're such clever little hosts haha Thanks! Andrew H

We recently stayed for four nights with our two young children and had such a lovely time. Andrew and Jules are excellent hosts and have clearly taken the time and effort to ensure the cottages are suitably equipped for the comfort of their guests. The small touches such as providing marshmallows to toast on the fire pit set this place apart from other cottages we have stayed. There’s a great kid’s playground and heated pool. The kids and adults loved the opportunity to feed the farm animals and the well established grounds are a great place to walk and take in the scenery. Thanks for a great stay! We will be back!

Hello sticky toffee pudding (OMG, I wish you had told me this story fireside) Thank you so much for the comments, and most importantly for having a really good time. It's so humbling to watch our young families enjoying all of the facilities, and it was very impressive how focussed you and Adam were on teaching the kids how to properly toast a marshmallow and not burn it! Thank you again for sharing your experience with the world and do come back soon! Andrew H Please do pass on our details to your friends so we can take care of them. From booking our stay (and even after we came home) the service provided by Drew has been second to none. We stayed for a week, and had no complaints, but only compliments.
I found the information booklet and the messages leading upto our stay very helpful.. The facilities were ideally suited to our young family aged 5 and 7 who loved playing in the cubby house and mud kitchen. There is a well-stocked DVD library in the pool area and a indoor pool which was brilliant. The location was great and is peaceful, the daily feeding time and buggy rides were eagerly anticipated by our children.
The cabin was clean and tody as are the sitewide facilities, every day they are cleaned and tidied up. The location is perfect and has quick access to caves road. We enjoyed the fresh woodfired bread, which is just down the road. Each loaf didn’t last long.
We will come and stay again, it was a fantastic break

Thank you so much for such a lovely story about your stay with us. We try so hard to engage our guests before they arrive, we find it enriches the experience much more when we know more about who is coming to stay. The pool has been such a hit since we cranked the heater up to 31 degrees, a perfect year round option. Please do come again soon! This was a really charming place.
We fell in love with it the moment we drove into it’s driveway. The owner added fairy lights along the driveway in to ensure the place didn’t look pitch dark at night. It was very different from other places we’ve stayed in our previous MR visits.
Owner Andrew conducted daily animal feeds and we enjoyed every single one of them all of the 5 mornings that we were there.
We liked that there was a good range of animals there, all of which were gentle and amiable. The kids loved the playground right outside our cottage and the fireplace roasting of mashmallows.
The owners had indeed considered plenty, in making city dwellers like us feel warmly welcomed. We really appreciated how there were laundry facilities, utensils for cooking, sinks and soap around the facilities for us to rinse our hands where needed.
The kids really enjoyed their stay. Thanks for the hospitality.
If we could make one tiny suggestion, would be that it’ll be nice to include a bottle of wine in the fridge in the cottage. Perhaps could partner w some winery in the region for samples? 😉

Thank you so much for this lovely story, a wonderful reflection of your experience while you stayed with us. We're so pleased you enjoyed the little touches, especially those to make the city folk feel at home. Having moved here from singapore ourselves, we know that it can be daunting being in the dark of the Australian bush, and so we strive to make our place as comfy as we can. We're always tinkering with our guest offering, whether it's wine in the fridge or something a little more appropriate for our farm experiences, am sure if you come back one day you'll keep seeing how we're always taking one step forward. Thanks again for taking your time to not only visit, but share your stories with others! Andrew H

My self and my partner had the most relaxing and wonderful time celebrating our two year anniversary at this beautiful location.
Andrew, Jules and family are so welcoming, kind and helpful with anything needed, from something simple to recommending lovely little coffee and food spots minutes away from the cosy little cottages you stay in.
Jules is a very talented women herself with amazing photography skills that will leave you breathless as her work is dotted throughout the cosy cottages of the beautiful spots around the Margaret river area, and I highly recommended booking a session with her in their stunning location as the bushland makes for a wonderful backdrop to get all cosy with the family, or for those wanting to ask a very special question, as what happen to myself.
Both Jules and Andrew made sure it was an experience or should I say a proposal to remember...
All over it was a beautiful time away and we were very sad to be returning home but we cannot wait to return to this beautiful location, and see all the seasons and the beautiful animals too.

We got everything we expected from booking a farm stay here…… and more!!! My kids had so much fun with the friendly animals that every morning the feeding ( and the truck ride ) was their highlight of the day. The cottage was unassuming but comfortable enough for us to have a good night rest. Location was just a short drive to the city centre and we also had the “mini-campfire” at night where kids get to bbq their marshmallows.
Of course, Andrew and Jules were also a big plus in our stay with their hospitality. Their attention to small details are really very commendable and Andrew also shared with me he is going to start a noodle cupboard for the guests! I can go on and on with all the positives but guess it’s best you go and have a stay to find it out yourself! 😎

We needed to getaway after lockdown and this was the perfect escape! Lovely chalet with two spacious bedrooms and living area. Looks out onto great little play area for the kids. Friendly farm animals were a hit with the children as were the lovely hosts who were more than happy to go above and beyond to answer any questions and help the children round up and feed the animals twice daily. Location is excellent as it’s close enough to pop into town for supplies or a local winery for the Margaret river experience but you also get the feel that your in the middle of nowhere.

I took a few weeks to write this post but I told myself I must review =) My family and I stayed in the Gumnut Cottage in June for 2 nights. Right from booking to arrival at the Holiday Cottages, Andrew assisted and gave us excellent help and advices! Thanks for informing us to gear up as the woods was really cold.
The cottage was clean and big enough to fit family of 9 (6 adults and 3 kids). We enjoyed the animal feeding at 8am too! The activities room were good with a heated pool and some games (even my 60 years old dad had a great pool time). The location is very close to the town where we can find food easily (better to make a reservation if tou are going on weekends). We hope to be back soon. The stay left us a deep impression and we enjoyed ourselves alot! Thank you Andrew!

Amazing!!! Great family friendly cottage stay. We stayed for 4 nights and had a timber cottage and it was fantastic. We’ll set up cottages. Friendly family who run it. Thanks Drew, Jules, your kids and lisa. Your hospitality is awesome. The animals roam free and are great to go and pat at anytime during the day. Feed time every morning which is good. Truck rides are fun, fire out. Movie night. Heated pool , tables games, dvd to borrow with games and trail walks are great at day or night… prime location to the town and many things you want to see while there. Highly Recommend you try this place. We took teenagers and they loved the animals and freedom of the farm as well.

We stayed in one of the mud brick cottages at Margaret River Holiday Cottages during winter. The cottage has all the necessary amenities, including a fully equipped kitchen and washing machine. The owners are exceptionally hospitable and always at hand to assist.
Our 2 and 6 year old girls had a blast. From feeding the tame farm animals, to child friendly bush walks to roasting marshmallows around the fire pit, to running around with other children in the on site playground, they loved their “holiday house”.
