Saturday buffet before early return to Perth.
Good selection of items and friendly service. Recommended if you don’t have access to a staff canteen on the Goldfields.
Website lists various theme nights.

Travelling through Kalgoorlie, I stayed a t the Overland motel for two nights.
We have stayed here several years ago and I decided to stay again due to the great service then.

Ben Glatz, who now has taken over the motel about a year and a half ago is doing well and it is good to see the service is still up to standard.

I have found that Kalgoorlie accommodation, as a whole, is more expensive than in many places throughout Australia due to supply and demand in the region. The Overland Motel although, does provide exceptional rooms, meals and service for less cost, than all of the other motel rooms.

A great restaurant for breakfast and many buffet dinners make this a great place to stay.
Highly recommended!

I would prefer not to give a rating but I have no choice but to give it the lowest possible.
From the time we arrived, we had nothing but problems. The staff didn't welcome us . Got to the room and found that the phone in the room didn't work, the airconditioner was struggling in 32 degree heat. Due to the phone not working had to keep going backwards and forwards to reception. Fees are charged on ALL cards regardless of what type, even debit. Had to ask for the password for the WiFi, which should have been given straight away. The pool was out of action, supposedly due to chemicals being added because of what kids had thrown into it. We could have used the BBQ area, but only once we had contacted someone to unlock the gate, which then would have to relocked.
Spoke with the manager, Ben, in the room and his reaction to the no phone was, haven't you got a mobile and showed no compassion to our plight
We went up for a relaxing weekend but ended up staying 3 hours and decided to return home to Perth.
The rate of $180 pn is excessive for what you get, or in this case, don't get. You could probaly get a better room or cabin in a caravan park cheaper than this, At least in a cabin, you would have access to a microwave, toaster, cooker everything you could want.
We have been going to this place for a long time, but never again.
Is this Kalgoorlie's version of Fawlty Towers and Ben is Basil.

For the price the rooms are fantastic and HUGE. Granted it’s an older motel but it’s clean and all staff have been super friendly and helpful. Try get a room at the back as the main road is a bit noisey. The best thing about this place is the buffet restaurant. Food quality and taste is AMAZING and varies each night. Breakfast buffet also good with all your usual hot and cold stuff. Would be great to have a proper coffee machine but a barista made coffee is only $3.50 and it’s very good. Happy to stay again.

From the outside this hotel looks pleasant and clean. Reception staff Would benefit from a course on how to greet and speak to customers. The inside of the rooms has been painted however the bathroom is from the sixties and the mattress on the single bed was so old it actually made a disintegrating noise of the fibers breaking down each time you moved. One of the most expensive hotels in town. We were booked for two nights but checked out after the first night as I could not sleep on that bed again. When we checked out, I briefly explained why and the receptionist was totally disinterested and replied ok and went back to what she was reading.

Last years buffet was the best in town , always fresh and fabulous variety. Last night's buffet was dissapointing to say the least , it was lacking in variety , no soup or bread rolls, no salad dressing , salad bar was very sad and boring , one plate per person . The old buffet we had a plate for our hot food and a new plate for salads , dessert was 3 little cakes , no icecream or custard or cream . What happened to the old buffet that we used to have at the overland ? Staff were not friendly at all . $32 is a waste of money . Go to Paddy's for dinner or The Palace . DON'T GO TO THE OVERLAND

We booked into this motel via Internet booking. That was the wrong thing to do. The room was substandard, clean and neat but oh dear. We booked out and were given full refund thanks to the family running this motel. Unfortunately it is really only classed as a stopover or for working guys in the mines. I would not class this place as 3.5 stars sorry.
