Booked 2 nights (Fri & Sat) in an Executive Queen Room, 3 months in advance of our planned road trip. At the time of booking we also paid $30- each for breakfast. ($120-)
On arrival, we received a friendly greeting from the male at reception. He said our room was almost ready and we had been given an upgrade, which appeared to be a higher floor, as room 317 looked exactly as shown on their website.
The room was very clean, quite roomy with full length windows and a sliding door onto a balcony. The bed was comfortable as was the couch to sit back on and relax. A good size TV along with a desk and chair was all that we needed.
The bathroom was a bit small but clean with soft towels and adequate toiletries provided. The only negative was the shower screen door did not seal neatly so the floor got quite wet.
Happy hour, which included bar snacks, was quite welcome after sightseeing around Kalgoorlie.
Compared to other breakfasts on our travels, I found $30- was a bit on the expensive side for what was offered. Also a bit disappointing to see adds in the lifts to book breakfast the night before and pay $25- It might be worth asking the question when booking bed and breakfast so far in advance as we did.

The reception staff here are incredibly friendly and helpful. 5 gold stars for them!!

The rooms are very noisy. You can hear thumping from rooms all around above and below. The beeping of reversing vehicles in the morning, buses and screaming locals etc. This however is mainly only during a short period where the workers are all leaving for the morning. If you’re one of them it won’t even matter 🤷‍♀️😂

The gym available is through anytime fitness which is just under a 1km walk away. It’s well appointed with heaps of equipment. There are only 5 keys available to use which the staff at Plaza sign in and out, but they manage this well.

Rooms are pretty standard and a good size.

I’d stay here again purely for the amazing staff and their A1 attitudes and attention to detail

Stayed in a Queen room on third floor for 2 nights. Great size room, really nice and clean.
Courtesy water in the room which is a rareity nowadays. Reliable WiFi. Friendly staff.

Fabulous support of their local PCYC. If you don’t get your room made up they’ll donate $5

Will definitely stay here again. Great location.

Gave 4/5 stars as the shower pressure was very lacklustre and showering was a bit frustrating.

Booked 2 nights here to escape from View on Hannah's motel. We were glad we did. For 20 dollars a night more, we got a 5 star top floor room, freshly decorated with crispy white sheets and a flat screen TV with free movies in front of the bed. Check in was fast with the lovely lady. I will recommend this hotel to all my friends.

Very expensive for two nights in an "executive" queen room. I was so shocked when we opened the door to our room that I went to reception and queried it. Nothing executive about the size, nor the discoloured red carpet which was not tightly laid, undulating above the floor surface. Nice to have a balcony but no table nor chair out there. No wine on your balcony while you look at the glorious street jacaranda's or the sunset here! Only one portable chair in room to carry out there, so one of us stood.

The staff were all very pleasant. The breakfast was standard FIFO, compared well with Quality Railway Inn. Our room was very clean. The pool was also clean and tidy.

We liked the location, up Egan St hill. Early evening we stood (!! Sitting down with a wine would've been much better) and listened to the singer/guitarist at either The Palace or The Exchange. The location is quite noisy, with FIFO workers coming and going, not the hotel's fault.

What was unfortunate and what is the hotel's fault was that our room 111 was directly above the entrance to the hotel and right above the carpark, so maximum noise. We heard people coming in and out until early morning. Surely it makes sense to allocate room 111 LAST, as any other room would be less noisy.

Kalgoorlie, Boulder and surrounds are very interesting, but having come here directly from The Vibe Subiaco and a queen deluxe room there at a third less price, I think the accommodation on offer in Kal for the money is a bit grim.

Thank you for the review "womblewa" - I am delighted you found all our team-members pleasant, they are our best assets. Our front office manager gave a $150 discount upon receiving your feedback on check out, to ensure the value for money is matched your expectations, despite we are not the most expensive hotel but one of the best in Kalgoorlie. As we are a very popular hotel therefore we are full at most times, unfortunately it does mean some guests are staying closer to entrance doors, some guests are staying closer to elevator doors. All rooms have additional door seals installed to minimize noise and disruption. We constantly reviewing our guests' feedback and implement changes accordingly to ensure we provide a pleasant stay and a good night sleep to all our customers. "womblewa" once again, thank you for the constructive feedback, we look forward to welcoming you back to The Plaza Hotel Kalgoorlie in the near future. Kind regards, Silvester B Toth, General Manager

Unfortunately, the stay was basic and best, some talented personnel, but the overall experience did not promote value for money, some defined process but mostly they missed the mark.

Low water pressure, noise rooms, king single beds with the joined uncomfortable strip in the middle, a queen size single good quality mattress would be better, small, more so tiny business centre, the food in the restaurant is low quality from the purchase, some of the sauces are flavoursome, but the base product is not a good meal, the meat was gristly, the fish was dry and the duck was overcooked. It's obvious the sole focus is on financial returns, not customer service or the experience which will then drive your returns.

Most items are overpriced, the washing facility is do-your-own, which if you are in town to work 12/14 hours/day is not an option, the street is noisy the sliding glass door to the small balcony offer no protection from the street nois, which at around 1:30/3:30 a.m. very intrusive.

Thank you for the review HotelGuru1980, I am disappointed you did not find our hotel and services good value for money. We do have a local laundry company offering next day washing / drying, the information an booking slips can be found in the wardrobe at our rooms. I apologize for the noise from outside. While our hotel is mostly soundproofed, the town is very quiet during the night therefore occasional street noise can be heard sometime. In regards to our restaurant offer, I ensure you we purchase from the best local and WA producers. We offer organic, grass-fed beef and similarly high quality meats. We maintain our own herb garden and we buy our vegetables locally. Our pricing reflect the demand and the quality of our services what can be slightly higher when the town is full of travelers, corporate guests. Hotelgury1980, once again please accept my apologies for not meeting your expectations and I sincerely hope your next stay with us will be more enjoyable. Amazing location, great views. I have travelled many times to Kalgoorlie, but never stayed here. Breakfast was delicious with so many choices.
Cythia on reception couldn’t have been any more helpful, when our room didn’t quite fit our changed needs, she quickly made sure we were transferred to a more appropriate room.
Secure parking, close to bars, restaurants and museums.
It will be my first choice in Kalgoorlie in the future.

The hotel is centrally located with a very short walk to the town centre, pubs, cafes and visitor’s centre.

The rooms are large, well equipped and tastefully decorated. Our room had a great little day bed near the window with loads of natural light where you could relax, read or watch television. There was a work desk, chair & coffee table. Loads of good lighting options, plenty of space to store your things. Room safe, iron/board, kettle with tea/coffee supplies provided. Flat screen tv.

The beds were super comfortable, with nice quality pillows and nice linens. Good block out curtains and a great air conditioner – so you got a comfortable night’s sleep.

The bathrooms are very compact. There is not much room to move. The bathroom did not appear to be as clean as the room itself. There was built up grim in the corners of the shower stall and there was a foil wrapper left behind by previous guests. Some parts of the bathroom were upgraded and the shiny new tiles looked lovely, but the floor itself was discoloured. The hotel provided lovely toiletries and a decent hair dryer to use. The towels were lucky dip, some days the towels were lovely and fluffy and other days, even though the towels were clean some towels were ratty with old stains. No guest likes ratty towels no matter how clean they are. The water pressure in the shower was also very weak.

There is ample parking, a swimming pool to cool off in from the Kalgoorlie heat. The staff can arrange a gym pass to a locate gym if you are in the mood to exercise. Guest laundry (payable) is available and a soft drink vending machine.

The staff are very polite and accommodating.

Overall, the hotel does need some TLC in some areas, and the bathrooms are very compact, but the room was spacious, the air conditioner worked well and the beds were very comfortable.

After travelling 7 hours , was desperately needing a much earned rest. Check in was extremely strict with its allocated time . With this , we decided to sleep in our car for an hour . Bedroom was clean , with all that you need for a short stay . Bathrooms a little tight and floors needed a good scrub but with plenty of soap, shampoo and conditioner. Hairdryer also supplied. Bed and pillows were rather comfortable , an extra blanket on hand in the room would have been greatly appreciated. Basic tea and coffee supplied. Balcony and outdoor furniture was not clean and covered in pigeon droppings , so totally unusable. Our room was noted as having soundproofing, this could not have been , as we heard every conversation next door word for word . Rooms were extremely noisy all night long , so earplugs are needed . The friendliest staff member we came across was our cleaner , front counter staff maybe need to take to smiling now and then and make people feel slightly more welcome when arriving . Check out time was also very strict , as we asked for an extra hour and was told not possible. Probably not somewhere I would choose to stay again and definitely wasn’t worth the asking price we paid at the time , even with being one street back from main part of town.

Restaurant service was slow and confused. Food was pretty good when it came!
Breakfast is quite good.
Rooms are big and comfortable, but rather sparse.
The hotel is undergoing repairs at present (one lift out of action, stairs being rebuilt), but they charged us $425/night for a just adequate experience.
Being greedy because there's high demand?
