If you are looking for the cheapest place to stay in Warrnambool this is it. $65 a couple buys a room with comfortable bed . We were given 3 in house vouchers for drinks and food, possibly saving approximately $20. Our room was the family with bunk style sleeping for 5. There was a small bar fridge, hand basin and a wire wardrobe contraption that at least kept our bags up off the unvacuumed floor. Bathroom facilities down the hall. The womens bathroom with a keypad lock. The bathroom has been recently upgraded but the supply of hand soap would be appreciated. I would have preferred the bed had a mattress protector but the sheets were clean and crisp. The room hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned - there were pieces of paper on the floor. We had dinner downstairs in the Bistro. Very acceptable pub meal with friendly staff. We were a bit concerned as other reviews had commented on the noise coming from downstairs. The bistro was very busy with 3 large groups celebrating. The live music hadn’t started when we retired back upstairs. Our windows was above what we assumed was the kitchen with large fans? Shutting the window dampened the mechanical whine. Considering the number of patrons downstairs we found the noise not disturbing. The noise from the fans stopped altogether and we had a good nights sleep. Using a voucher we purchased 1/2 cups of coffee from the bar. Overall - would we stay again? Yes.

Stayed in double room with shared bathroom. Room and bathroom were clean and tidy. I thought it was an excellent touch that the women’s bathroom was number-locked for security purposes. Another thing is that extra that this place has is the room has a tap and sink in it, making it easy to access drinking and washing water without needing to walk down the corridor to the bathroom! Reception staff were lovely and very helpful, even ordering to microwave the food we’d brought with us.

As a frequent business visitor to Warrnambool I’ve eaten at the Cally Hotel several times following a recommendation from a local.

It has an Ok ambiance and friendly service but the food is fairly average, especially when factoring in the prices.

Last night I was especially disappointed by the “Duck and Wild Mushroom Risotto.” The menu said a confit leg of duck so I thought there would be an actual piece of duck atop a bed of risotto. But no, there was just a dish full of risotto mixed with finely chopped mushrooms and literally not even a shred of duck. It was, as described, topped with parmesan cheese and fried prosciutto and that’s all I could taste- not even a duck broth as a base.

Asked the server to query the chef as to the missing duck and she was noncommittal. When pressed she admitted he had already left for the night (at 8pm!!). Instead of staying for dessert and a drink we took our business elsewhere.

Who wants to pay $32 for a bowl of cheesy rice? Not me!!

Rarely write reviews unless necessary as I always give the business a chance to explain themselves. In this case apparently ignorance is bliss! Our disabled son made a booking to stay here whilst planning a visit to friends but was then offered a place to stay with friends. He cancelled his booking within the required period advised within their cancellation policy which also states that a 100% refund would be provided. Not quite the case as they pocketed $7.44 and when I requested an explanation on our son's behalf there has been no response at all. Lesson for potential bookers - check for hidden charges when making bookings at this establishment.

A group of us stayed here 4 nights on a golf trip to Warrnambool and Pt Fairy. While the Roos are only basic it is a fantastic pub. The staff are very helpful and friendly and Lucas was the perfect host. Food was of a high standard. Location was great and there are plenty of nice cafes within walking distance. Highly recommend staying here or pop in and a few drinks and listen to some good live music.

We came across this pub by accident while looking for somewhere to eat lunch. It was a very pleasant overall experience, for a number of reasons:
First, we were warmly greeted and well served by polite and friendly staff.
Secondly, the menu is varied and offers good options. I had the calamari with chips and salad - sounds boring, but was much better than the usual you get at some places. My friend had a salad which she was very impressed with (she's fussy!).
Thirdly, bar staff also friendly and helpful - was able to sample a beer or two before making final selection from an excellent range of options.
We left happy and satisfied!

Thank you for the review. We are happy that you covered off the 3 things we really try to achieve for every guest. Friendly hotel, variety for our customers and the ability to look after most guests in a hotel/pub environment. Thanks again. I will share with the team!! Safe travels

Our first overnight stay at a pub, it was a Saturday night & a very busy pub it was. The staff were excellent especially Bridgette who looked after us from the moment we arrived until we went to bed.
We weren’t expecting much as it was a budget stay, the room rate was super cheap & the bar & meal prices were very reasonable.
Live music & chatty locals made our stay very enjoyable.
Thankyou Bridgette for your excellent service during our stay.

On a very hot afternoon In Warrnambool, we called in for lunch and it was fantastic!
The pub is well air conditioned and welcoming.
We both had the pasta marinara and it was one of the best I’ve ever had.
Lots of fresh seafood in a beautiful sauce.
I’ll definitely be back for more!

The restaurant has a pleasant decor and is efficiently run. The staff are very friendly and obliging. My husband enjoyed his steak and remarked it was cooked to perfection. Clearly I chose wrongly. The hamburger was very strange as it wasn’t a juicy patty, it was more like sausage meat. It was dry and quite horrible to be honest. Suggest the chef improves this dish. Everything else was fine.
