Affordable is the nicest thing I can say about my experience.
The location is difficult to find - in the dark as there were no lights or signs. The rooms were dated - to the mid 60s! New tv with Austar which was nice, if only it worked! A thorough clean would be good - dust you can drag your finger through is not acceptable! Don't even ask about the plumbing!
The upside: hot water and nice owners. But not nice enough to ever recommend!
My major gripe was with the bed, which as I noted was small for a Queen - and it was as hard as a rock. I'm not kidding, it was about the hardest bed I've ever attempted to sleep on. So unless you like sleeping on the floor at home, beware!
Other things to be aware of - it is literally on the freeway, we were in a room towards the back of the motel and the trucks etc were still very noisy. The walls are paper thin and you'd better hope your next door neighbour doesn't like late nights and loud TV. The carpark is very tight. Our heater didn't work, I didn't bother complaining. Also be aware the clientele of this establishment included some rather seedy and scary types - hardly the motel's fault on that - but just an FYI. And finally, we were fairly sure we could hear rats scratching inside the walls - ewww.
Overall, I wouldn't stay here again as the room was just too cheap and nasty for me - I'd pay the extra $20 and stay somewhere a bit nicer.
The shower wasn't top neither, because you had to hold the shower head, which actually should be mounted tight on the wall.
We were happy that we only stayed 1 night, we had much better places for the same price before.
no foxtel as advertised
Electric blanket no cord to plug in
froze all night
Stains on bedding
Light in bathroom was flicking on and off
No heating no cooling
No extra blankets
Hair dryer worked only 2 mins
Office closes at 9 no one to help
Had a game room with everything out of order
Bugs in bath room sink
Will never stay again absolutely ridiculous
Yes I understand that some of the other recent comments are not great and these could had been easily fixed, like replacing a light glove etc. If I had a faulty globe I would let the staff know things happen.
We will stay again thank you
All that was left were "Family Rooms" which could sleep 4 and we paid the higher price for this. However, even though the room could sleep more it was certainly not worth the $270 per night we paid.
What others have said about the rooms is correct. Ours was dirty, had awful old furniture and beds with smelly sheets. The rug was threadbare and stained in numerous locations. We chose not to remove our footwear even in the shower. I won't go into any further detail as I'm sure you get the point.
I've stayed in hostels in SE Asia and Eastern Europe for a fraction of the cost which were cleaner.
I strongly urge you to not stay here unless you have absolutely no other choice.
My wife and I were on an unplanned visit to the Great Ocean Road and Warrnambool was our choice for the first night.
We found the Southern Right Motor Inn on-line and gave them a ring. A friendly young man advised us that he had a room available at just $95 and we accepted it sight unseen.
On our arrival, this same young man was quite happy to offer advice as to where to eat etc etc.
The room itself was very clean with crisp, white bedlinen inviting us to a restful night.
It is true that there were some minor repairs that should have been done (window catches broken, a little touch-up on the paintwork here and there) but on the whole we were well satisfied to find such accommodation in the height of the season.
