Detailed Reviews
We stayed in a one bed apartment for a few nights.
The apartment was spacious and clean with all you need for several days. Be aware that the bedroom and bathroom is upstairs, so if you want something on one level, this is not for you.
Location is great, right in central Warrnambool, opposite a supermarket, so easy for supplies and walkable to the main shopping streets. It has a pool, but it is tiny, more for cooling off than swimming.
The only downside for us, was the bed. It was a pillowtop, and a bit too soft for our liking.

We visited Warrnambool twice on a recent road trip-once each way ex Melbourne. The first stay was in a smaller “deluxe” one bed apartment and the 2nd stay was in a one bed “villa”. Both rooms had renovated bathrooms and comfortable facilities with kitchens adequate for cooking a small meal for 2 and washing machine and dryer. The villa had its own private courtyard, which was really lovely and a protected corner to dry washing outside. The complex is across the road from an Aldi and a coffee shop, around the corner from a Woolworths, some takeaways and a short walk to Coles and further eating options. It was lovely to hear the bells of the local church on Sunday morning (not too early, fortunately!)We were impressed at how quiet the rooms were as they are in solid historic facades with modern insides. There is air con/heating-neither of which we needed in March. My only caution to fellow travellers is the on-site parking. It is very “tight”. If you have a larger vehicle street parking out the front would be recommended.

Gallery Apartments is Ultra Modern very clean and comfortable, the Spa is great to relax in we were in Unit 9 TV in the lounge and a smart TV in the bedroom. Great cooking facilities very easy to prepare your own food. Only drawback was that to get to the pool you had to go down the driveway into the street and then down the street to the rest of the units to get in.

We stayed in Unit 2, one of the front units.
I agree with all the positive aspects of the reviews I read, that it was well maintained, clean, well furnished and felt very homey and welcoming.
However the stairs that led from upstairs to downstairs had a sharp turn from bedroom to the top of the stairs while also going down a step or two and the problem was not that, it was that the handrail didn't reach all the way to the first step, it was short by quite a bit. This meant that you had to step down and turn down the stairs without a rail to hang onto - the rail didn't appear until the 3rd or so step, and I had to bend down to reach it, while descending. A small additional handrail on the stair bend would solve this problem.
We also failed to pay attention to the reviews about the noise at the front of the apartments, so failed to ask for an apartment at the back.
Big mistake. Double glazing would fix this problem easily.
We saw the owner/manager present on the property doing some sweeping etc from time to time but they didn't care to make eye contact or say good morning on any of the occasions, so it felt quite unfriendly which was at odds with the cosiness of the apartments.
I'd stay again if I could be assured of a rear apartment with safe handrails on the stairs.

When we called Gallery Apartments yesterday explaining that once again Melbourne was in lockdown and we would not be able to use our booking we fully expected to be told there could be no refund. After all, when we booked that was made clear on the website. However we were told we could have a full refund and are very grateful. We are now looking forward to being able to stay soon...🤞

Gallery Apartments are very nicely appointed and a good sized. The 1 bedroom apartment is perfect for a couple. The bathroom is a decent size and the bed very comfy. They are also well located - close to shops and restaurants.
Note: if a light sleeper (as I am), ask for an apartment at the back of the complex. Although a quiet street, we could hear some of the street noise at the front. Also beware of church bells ringing on a Sunday morning!!!

Stayed here as part of our Ocean Road trip. We booked in the UK which was easily achieved. We were a little late so no receptionist but our key was by the reception. We had been allocated parking. We had a two bed apartment that was spacious, clean and well laid out. The bed was comfortable and the outdoor terrace a nice touch. All local amenities are within an easy walk. We would stay there again.

We booked this lodging for our family as an overnight stay during a 2-day visit to the Great Ocean Road. I didn't know the area well, but had difficulty finding a family apartment that would allow the 1-night booking we needed, but we were happy to find this place in Warnambool.
The rooms were great and the host was very friendly, even when a bunch of loud kids piled into the pool at 9am. The size and outfitting of the accommodation was great, and it was only a short walk to an Aldi (grocery) and several blocks of restaurants and shops.
However, I think for our needs, Warnambool was a bit further from where we wanted to be. If you're looking for an overnight stay on the Great Ocean Road, keep in mind that Warnambool is actually about an hour from the last major attractions on the Great Ocean Road. Not bad, but that extra 2-hour round trip added a bit of extra (non-scenic) driving to a weekend that already had a lot of driving. So consider your itinerary and decide if this is the right city to make your stopping point.
All of that takes nothing away from the apartments which are great, and the best choice in this city.

Its clear Gallery Apartments are beautifully appointed with higher end fittings and fixtures, and they are also extremely clean. But hospitality is not made by these things alone, especially when you are paying extremely high-end prices. I'm not for over-servicing nor for wastage in the areas of soap and towels, but the relatively limited availability of soap and face-washers and lack of hand towels doesn't quite line up with a $300 a night experience. There are ways to avoid wastage without looking stingy. Failing to inform us that our children would need to share a bed (when our booking form was clearly marked as two adults and children) and absence of any contact with owners also didn't endear this place to us. There was a few more niggles, but you get the picture. Too much emphasis on aesthetics, too little on substance.

Response from galleryapartments, Owner at Gallery Apartments
Responded 14 July 2013
Thank You for taking the time to write a review. As we are self-catering apartments, the bathroom amenities, tea coffee etc are provided complimentary to start you off, our reception is open on weekends from 9 to 1 if you needed anything outside these hours we would of been more than happy to assist, we are contactable via the room phone and the phone at reception door as we live onsite. The room rate for your stay was $275 per night which for a two bedroom two bathroom apartment we feel is very reasonable, we also offer over 60 Foxtel channels and free unlimited WIFI in this rate. Regards, Brett.
