Detailed Reviews
Booked this place for a 2-night stay as we had live music shows to attend in the area. The place is priced at mid-range and doesn't pretend to be anything more. Access to the property was very easy, including the arrangement for secure on-site parking @ $10/day. The room itself was tidy, clean and spacious enough. The bed was comfortable. The AC was effective. The bathroom although on the smaller size was very clean and brightly lit, with great hot water and pressure in the shower. We could walk to all of the attractions and hospitality venues that St Kilda has to offer and the staff at reception were most courteous and helpful. Good bandwidth with the WIFI. Only negative was the room carpet looked really worn and could perhaps do with an update. Will stay here again.

We had our daughters wedding recently at Encore and we needed a lot of rooms for the wedding party, family & guests. With the Grand prix due originally on the date, the team at the hotel were so accommodating in holding the rooms for us and fortunately the GP was postponed. Rodolfo was outstanding in assisting me to organize rooms over multiple days with multiple ph calls from me to make sure we had the right rooms for everyone. The 2 bedroom apts are OK for short stays, the terrace apts are a great size and the terrace rooms have great views. For 1 night stays they are more than comfortable. Don't expect 5 star, but for the price it's great value. All our guests were very happy with the beds and the cleanliness od the rooms. The location is fantastic for places to eat and the security parking was a bonus instead of leaving cars in the street.

I want to first start off to say that my family and I are not experienced travellers, nor are we experts in looking for accommodation, but we can't help but feel cheated out of decent accommodation.
We came across a deal for $150 per night for a queen bed, and two singles in a "hotel". We expected the Queen bed to at least be in a seperate room, but it was not. All 3 beds where crampt into one studio room. Not to mention, this was advertised as a "family" room, and only included 2 chairs. No dining table in sight. No sink in the kitchenette, or microwave. Just a small bar fridge. Came with glasses, so I'm assuming the hotel expected us to clean the dishes in the bathroom sink...
Speaking of the bathroom, it was so small. I whacked my toe on the shower tile (which was raised). There was no seperate light to the fan, so if you needed the bathroom at night you'd wake everyone up with the loud fan.
This room did come with parking, so that was a plus, and the room was clean, and the beds comfy. It was located in the heart of St kilda and could walk to Luna Park in under 2 minutes.
The hotel staff were nice, however one lady upon checking in seemed a bit grumpy. We had to ring on the phone because nobody on the desk and we were met with a "okay, I'll come now" in an impatient tone, like we'd had interrupted her break or something. All the other staff were nice, and when we spoke to this lady in person she was nice, just our first interaction with a staff member wasn't the greatest. And first impressions do matter.
Overall, for the price, I'd only recommend this if you're someone who plans to spend their day out, and using the hotel as just a sleeping point... Because that's all it really is. You're paying for the parking, location and a bed in the heart of St kilda. If that's what you're looking for.

Nothing but attitude from all staff encountered. Anything asked for such as towels or coffee for more than 2 people seemed like a hassle for anyone on shift. You think they would be eager to have something to do being so quiet and so few rooms occupied.
No staff on property after 11pm so no direction or assistance when the fire alarm goes off. Or anyone to assist with anything medical after our daughter has a severe asthma attack during the night due to the mould in the room that had been just painted over. While it is located close to Acland St and the beach this is its one and only redeeming quality.
Will not return or recommend.

Arrived at 10 pm on a rainy night, after having already paid for room and tried to check in. when using the hotels eftpos machine to authorise the $100 hold all my cards declined which there was no reason too.as all had sufficient funds.
The receptionist was adamant that unless card worked she was not going to let me check in even though it was late, heavily raining, and room was already paid for.
i even offered cash deposit but was bluntly told no. Then the woman worked out she had not done something on eftpos machine, and all of a sudden credit cards worked
Will never book there again

Response from TeamCosmo, General Manager at Cosmopolitan Hotel, Melbourne
Responded 29 Jan 2020
Hi Trav, Sorry to hear that things didn't go smoothly on check-in. I'm sure it sounds like a cliche, but we had just changed over to a new EFTPOS provider and some of the settings hadn't been configured properly. You were one of two people who got caught up in the confusion and we're really sorry that it affected you so badly. Our team do need to be firm in certain instances but it seems pretty clear that we blew it this time. Hopefully you are prepared to give us another go some day.

Stayed at this hotel one night and wish that I didn’t!
After checking out of the hotel I later realised that I left my Apple charger plugged in next to the bed so called the hotel for them to keep aside and I would collect. The receptionist then proceeded to tell me that nothing was found in the room by the housekeeper. This frustrated me considerably as this now was a matter of, the rooms are not cleaned properly or the housekeeper decided to keep it! After communicating my frustration, I was then told to contact the manager by email to tell them the problem. I was also told that they had several other Apple charges that had been left by other guests that I could come collect. Which was strange as when I asked what the normal procedure was when a guest left an item in the room they told me that they contact them…..
So the following day, I drove over an hour to collect an Apple iPhone charger to only be presented with a dirty charger that was not Apple IPhone….. very disappointing and not good enough!
The hotel housekeeping staff are either pocketing guest items or are not throughly cleaning the rooms (Yuck!).
I would definitely suggest staying elsewhere. I paid $220 for the room, however I have now paid $376 for one night stay in a dingy room and a Sunday wasted by travel and having to purchase a new charger anyway.
However, if you don’t mind not knowing if the room you stay in is thoroughly cleaned or if you may have your items stollen. Go for it!
On a side note, if the hotel is willing to provide a solution. I’m happy to remove ‘every’ review I post

Ive never written a review but feel compelled to warn people.
I booked a getaway for my family and I was very disappointed. I had room 202.
I put in special messages that I’d like early check in (earlier than 3pm) as I have young children. I had a call at 3.15pm to say room was ready.
The bath had ants and mould in it. It was gross. There was also mould on the bathroom ceiling. So after playing at the beach I had to sponge clean the kids and not shower myself.
The DVD player did not play our brand new dvd that kids had been looking forward to.
The noise from neighbours in house next door kept me and my children up till 4am. Not hotels fault but hardly a place for families.
My biggest problem was the front door. There was no way to locked it from inside to stop little ones simply opening the low handle and opening front door if I was in the bathroom or in bedroom. Didn’t make a very relaxing experience.
$208 is a joke.
I related my experience to hotel before writing this but they said all they could do is discount my next stay. Aaaaaas ifffff

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel and went to a music festival the 2nd day to only return that evening and not able to get access to the room. As the reception is not manned 24/7 we had to call and after hours number and then wait out in the cold night for approx 1 hour for them to turn up and let us in the room.
Absolutely no contact to apologise- l don’t even know why we couldn’t get in - I suspect maybe a faulty swipe card.
We definitely won’t be going back and will use another Hotel for our frequent stays to St Kilda.

I guess with a great location comes city noise. We were on the ground floor, so noise from the trams, traffic and people enjoying St Kilda was inevitable. We were unable to completely close our bathroom window, so it got quite cold. The shower was great, our room needed some paint touch ups but really, that was you get for a good value property. Parking was only $10 per night and there is a great coffee shop across the road. You are only a 5 minute walk away from Luna Park and the tram stop, so very convenient if that’s what you are in St Kilda for.

We stayed at the cosmopolitan for 3 nights at the beginning of our holiday and then for a night at the end of our travels. The rooms were very well equipped and beds very comfortable. The hotel is very central for exploring St Kilda and the sky bus for the airport stops right outside the hotel. We found the staff very friendly. we could leave our luggage with them and also could check in earlier. Found the staff so helpful and would highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely return next time visiting St Kilda.

Hi Jeff,
We're about 30km from the international airport. Best way to get here is SkyBus or taxi.
Hi Howie,
The 2-Bedroom Studios are large, well-appointed apartment-style rooms. They have a kitchenette so you can knock up a quick meal and a modern bath-over-shower bathroom.
The bedrooms overlook Carlisle Street. There is free parking available on a first-come, first serve basis.
The Skybus stops directly across the street from the hotel and runs approximately every 20 minutes to and from the airport
Catch the St Kilda Skybus. It stops very close to the motel.
