Detailed Reviews
The hotel is terrifically located and our room was very quiet. Botanical body products were a lovely luxury and Easter treats were an added bonus. The bed was exceptionally comfy and the room had all the things we needed, even if it was a little compact. The room seemed very clean and didn’t smell of cleaning products, which was terrific. Would only say a little extra care in deeper room cleaning was required, especially as the rest of the hotel is so very Covid safe, with sanitiser strategically placed discreetly on walls everywhere round the hotel. Cobwebs, finger marks and some intrusive outside light ‘til late we’re the only negatives. Overall, a great stay!

Loved staying for 2 nights at The Prince Hotel, the bed was super comfy, food and wine delicious as room service and in restaurants. Staff were lovely and attentive. The carpark on site is very convenient and location great for walks along the beach. Look forward to staying again soon!

The Prince Hotel is my go to place to stay whenever I'm in Melbourne. It's in a great location in St Kilda, has a cool vibe, the staff are always very friendly, and the food in the pub is consistently good! I travel mostly on my own for work and I always feel comfortable having a drink and meal downstairs by myself.

We arrived at the location and it was very hard to understand where the car park was. We eventually found the car park and was looking for a lift from the car park to the hotel as I have a really bad knee.
We finally realize that there was no Lift to the hotel, and we had to walk around to the front door. As entering to the front door, we were not able to get in there was no one at the front reception to get in we needed to call.
My husband at around about 5.30am had been was woken by our door opening with a key he opened his eyes and saw that there was a person standing there and then they quickly shut the door again.
My husband was extremely confused and frightened.
We went to the front reception the morning after and explained it. My husband had seen somebody. The receptionist said yes I do apologize for the inconvenience as one of the guests thought it was his room and so we had the manager open the door to see if it was. We were very, very, very surprised that this had occurred as this is a breach of privacy, and I’m not quite sure why they couldn’t look on the hotel information to see who was in that room, and who they gave a key to. The receptionist said that we use anything from the room we had drunk one lemonade, nonalcoholic drink, and then she said, because of the inconvenience will give you that drink for free. After thinking about the inconvenience that the we thought that a soft drink was so not appropriate for what it actually happened. We then went down to have breakfast at the restaurant. Myself had bacon and eggs and toast with hollandaise sauce. The toast was extremely hard. The eggs were not cooked properly as poached eggs and the bacon it seems like it was cooked and then reheated extremely tough to eat so without over all experience, we would not recommend this place we were highly disappointed for $230 to have a room at one of the hotels. A lot of people said it’s nice to have this Experience

We stayed 2 nights at the Prince Hotel.
The room and bathroom were already a bit run down without
Charme.
Friendly staff, breakfast ok, dinner well.
Very far to the centre of Melbourne at least 30-35 minutes by tram.
It was very cold in the room, so we had to heat something with the air conditioning, but did nothing was just mega noisy.
We wouldn't book the Prince again

Having stayed at the Prince numerous times we were looking forward to our return visit. As others have said The Prince is conveniently located and we have previously found to be a pleasant boutique hotel. Unfortunately this time was not such a good experience and this was mainly due to the room we were allocated which didn’t match the website description.
We booked a boutique room, there was no other room type available. It is described as smaller but it is sold to couples so we thought it would be ok. The bed was small and the mattress had seen better days as it dipped to the middle.
The room was on 4th floor and located directly above a row of air conditioning units which rumbled loudly and continuously 24/7 . This loud constant noise meant you couldn’t open the window to let fresh air in or it was even louder.
The room was closely overlooked by several opposite windows so close you could shake hands so for privacy you have to keep the blinds closed
The pelmet covering the blind fitting wasn’t attached so it fell on your head when you tried to adjust the blinds
The website describes the room as having coffee maker and also a kettle. The coffeemaker was missing. We asked several times where it was and were told they would check but no-one got back. On the 3rd attempt we were told the kettle was actually the coffeemaker to be used with the sachets of instant coffee.
The only mirror in the room was the small mirror over sink.
Only light switches were located by the door so no bedside light controls or master switch and dimmers as described.
Even with aircon on a cool night, the room got very hot in middle of night.
The restaurant and cocktai bar were closed until further notice with no indication of this prior to arrival.

When it comes to staying in Melbourne, St. Kilda is one of my preferred spots.
The Prince offers a perfect location whether you want o go for a walk on the beach or you’re off to one of the many restaurants in the area. Too tired to go out? Enjoy the refined restaurant or the wonderful Prince wine bar ( wine, cheese and cured meats to die for). Then breakfast comes …..never a disappointment in years……. Definitely worth a trip.

Easy parking, close to the famous beach, just a five-minute walk away, beautiful sunset by the sea, unfortunately cold weather, no sight of nesting chicks. There are plenty of restaurants by the beach, frugal.
Across the street is a park with pleasant views.
The small snacks are delicious. There was a restaurant and bar on the ground floor that I didn't try.

I wish I'd looked at reviews before I stayed here. Positives are location, food and service. Negatives, one room smelt so bad I could smell it before I walked in. Had to get another room. It also smelled of cigarettes a bit. Very tired rooms, filthy walls, shower... I wasn't game to walk on the carpet barefoot. No fault of the cleaners... the rooms need a thorough detailed clean and paint, steam clean carpets etc. I could hear people upstairs walking back and forth... definitely would not recommend.

Hello mfrase530002, Thank you for your constructive feedback. I apologise that the two rooms you checked in to were not in top condition. I understand that this is just an excuse, however we were apart of St Kilda Festival the night before, and unfortunately some guests decided to smoke in our rooms. Housekeeping did their best to remove the smell, but in this instance was unable to completely. We should have never checked you into that room. Please contact myself directly if you would like to discuss further. Thank you again for your feedback. Kind Regards, Benjamin Chan

Great location with added benefit of parking on site. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly and we could not fault the facilities or location. Great added perk was the complimentary drinks for the evening and quality of the food was incredible. A hidden gem in St Kilda.

Sorry, not sure as we were on the other side of the motel.
There's an adjoining multi level carpark, very easy to access, and is billed, I believe, at $10 per night, but best confirm rate with the hotel.
Thank you for your question! We have the Aurora Spa onsite. They offer an amazing range of services and it is best to view the Aurora Spa Retreat website to tailor the best package for you.
We hope to welcome you to The Prince in the near future.
