It’s nice and quiet and i liked the aesthetic of it. We had a fridge breakdown but was solved quickly enough.
It really needed a deep clean.
I was happy to leave and move into a more comfortable hotel at the same prices.
If you can get a good deal then it’s worth it.
I felt I devalued myself settling for a cheaper space when there were others in better condition.
Good for an overnighter
I wouldn’t stay longer.
Nothing against the owners they are lovely but cleaning is important to me and I had to clean toilet and fridge myself .
The street life is interesting... but didnt feel threatened or unsafe at any time. I would stay here again.
When we arrived, we were ushered into what looked like a bedroom.. no reception or front desk, just a room with a bed, washing, spare furniture. We were sat at a tiny desk where we were to fill in paperwork, which included writing down our credit card details. And we were charged $200 deposit for a room that cost $130. The room was not at all what was advertised on Wotif. Mismatched, damaged furniture, cracked tiles in the bathroom, holes in pretty much every wall, and a packet of condoms under the bed.
One of the windows did not close.
The people above were heard late into the night and early morning, stomping around.
We were woken at 3am by someone screaming bloody murder out the front (not the hotel’s fault, but gives you an idea of the area).
WE DID RECEIVE OUR DEPOSIT BACK, three days after our stay, as assured by owner.
At the time of booking, I asked Alex (the host) where to park our vehicle and he told us to park directly out the front of the accommodation.
When we returned our car has been towed and our 7 year old son was in tears. We then had to pay for a taxi to retrieve our vehicle in addition to the towing fee, which totalled over $500. Despite many resolution requests the hosts declined to offer any form of compensation.
This stay completely spoiled our entire holiday, and we will never return and would warn others of staying here.
The room itself was very clean with plenty of towels and linen, the small kitchenette was extremely useful and came with a 4 ring hob, microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle. All utensils were provided also. The big bathroom was well kept at all times. Cleaning facilities were provided outside with a washer, dryer and clothesline which we found very good on our travels.
The lady staff member who we dealt with was very helpful and made us most welcome.
The only complaints I have are that on 1 or 2 occasions there were people shouting on the streets outside during the day, the tv was rather small and also the balcony was small and none to private
I would recommend this apartment to most people but especially backpackers and tourists( not sure how kid friendly this place is).
However, the room smelt of mould and there was dirty underwear underneath the bed.
The rooms are NOT sound proof, so when our neighbour upstairs decided to have a party and play loud music until 5am, this significantly ruined our weekend getaway.
Unfortunately I think this place relies on having 'good' people staying at this 'good' self serviced apartment in St Kilda.
