I wish the venue had warned us that they were shortstaffed when we booked. We waited for one and a half hours for meals. What annoyed us just as much was that it seemed they did not serve meals in order of when ordered. We found that those arrived after us received their meals before us. Meals were ordinary, avoid the roast big time. Bartender nice. After 35 years of going to this pub off and on, I have been put off for good.
The bistro was a bit full, so we popped into the bar instead and ordered the $20 parma and beer deal. It took a while for our meals to come out, but we weren't surprised because of the bistro crowd. When it finally came, we were very pleased with it. There are quite a few different parma choices, but we just chose the basic chicken, with ham, cheese and tomato. The garden salad was simple and suited it well. The schnitzel was delicious, and a bit man-sized! Maybe this is a long review just for a parma, but it was great value, and worth mentioning. PS, look for the Jim Beam bottle ceiling light in the bar!
This review is for the bistro only. We had a large family group and the staff were helpful in allowing us to confirm the final number of the reservation on the day. The menu has a long list of schnitzels/parmas and that seems to be what most people ordered. The food was average with serving sizes a little too large. We checked out the dessert options and were told to look at the cabinet. Unfortunately there were about three portions sitting there so we went across the road to McDonalds for a soft serve!
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing, food excellent, well cooked, well presented, nice and hot, just a good Pub Meal of days gone by Excellent friendly Staff Had Chicken Schnitzel with Chips and Salad, Salad so very fresh Friend had Tom,s Home Made Rissoles with Chips and Vegies Thank you to the Gippy Hotel for such beautiful meals Meals very reasonably prices, good sized meals
This review is for the bistro only. We found the meals to be a good size but you need to avoid the steak which was chewy (scotch fillet is never chewy). My friend could not finish it and was most disappointed. Menu is somewhat limited and not necessarily on the cheaper side of pricing. Staff were friendly though. We were looking forward to returning here after a long absence but I'm afraid we won't be doing that again.
