Had a couple weekend away in a spa room, the room was neat, tidy and clean. However the spa was old and had discolouration on the bottom. The room was old and tired in parts. The advertisement/ explanation of the breakfast was no communicated well. When we addessed at check out it was with a stale face and no reaction, answer ot human empathy. It's explained that breakfast of $18 per person is included when really it's a "deal" of breakfast buffet is $18. So we went to the hotel breakfast and had I known at the time we were paying I would have not used the hotels breakfast and got something better elsewhere. Be warned.
The hotel while looks grand but when you look closer it is need of repair.
Location is amazing and is well Positioned to walking around town.

The room we booked was admittedly on the cheap side, but looked nothing like the pictures on the website. We had to ask for another room as our initial room didn’t seem to have any natural light! The second room had more light even if it faced out onto a service area. The room’s decor is very dated it was clean at least. The biggest drawback of our stay here was that the power points were inaccessible from either side of the bed. We travel with multiple devices, and having easy access by the bed is useful. The furnishings in our room were dated and functional but I don’t think 4 star worthy. I feel this hotel needs to add more nuance to their listings. While the amenities were there they were cheap and the most basic of any I’ve experienced in any hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

We'd lived in Mildura as a young married couple 50 years ago and had envied those who were able to stay at The Grand. It therefore seemed the ideal choice for our long weekend nostalgia trip. Many iterations of updates have kept it looking good, without all the past style and grandeur wearing off. However, it is an old building which means lots of cutesy things you get in modern rooms are absent but on the other hand, the room was large (though tired in places), with lots of shelving to put luggage and laptops on (wifi was fine) and opened out onto a balcony above the gardens with down onto the riverbank gardens. The in-house dining options were virtually unavailable but many other eateries were close by - we didn't starve. The lift was working ok (we needed it) as post-covid staffing cuts have reduced the staff support to a very bare minimum (this has been the case elsewhere). I'm sure there are jazzier places to stay in Mildura but for this special golden trip, we're glad we chose 'The Grand'.

I gave this one 5 because it is a really beautiful older hotel that offers very clean and comfortable budget accommodation in a great location. Did not try their breakfast as the lure of Stefano’s cafe just outside their door was too appealing.

Standard room booked on Booking . com was unbelievably bad - completely internal and dark without windows! I’m not fussy but this room was in an old part of the building and really kreepy. When I asked for a different room I was only offered another room with extra $30 per night upgrade.
Parking is around the block, hard to find a sometimes full .
Be VERY wary if you book here.

Booked by our corporate travel company and I’ll be giving feedback to them about my room. I have travelled extensively in Australia and it was the second worst room I have seen. Avoid the ‘SouthWing’ ….. Dilapidated. Cracked windows, duct tape used as a repair, huge cracks in the walls, dirt above the shower on wall and the light diffusers had dirt/insects within them. How difficult is it to remove them and clean it once a month ! Carpet has seen better days and I could go on…..The fire alarm went off at 1am and whilst that is not an issue as such it silenced after 4 beeps. No one was evacuating and as I headed towards Reception was told by a staff member that there wasn’t a fire with the Fire Panel key in her hand. I sincerely hope the alarm wasn’t isolated before evacuating the hotel so would ask the management to review their procedure. I understand that COVID financially hit establishments hard but a basic bit of maintenance would go a long way. On the positive side it’s location is excellent, the day staff were professional and my other colleagues said there rooms were very good (not one who also stayed in the south wing interestingly)

Where to begin? The 'Quality' Hotel Mildura Grand boasts a fabulous location on the corner of 'Feast Street' and sits within walking distance of the mighty 'Murray River'. For many locals, the hotel holds great sentimental value as many have booked the hotel for weddings and other events. Rooms don't come cheap, either. A one night stay in the 'Poolside Suite' will set you back just over $200.

I recently stayed in the 'Poolside Suite' with two friends for a 'girl's night' and to say that we were merely 'disappointed' with the room would be a gross understatement.

Upon entering one might question whether or not they have walked into a time warp. Your eyes are immediately abused by the beige on beige colour scheme, mismatched patterns straight from the 80s, and a carpet that has had more wine spilled on it than my couch after New Year's. There are cracks in the walls, bugs in the corners, and it has a very distinct musty odor.

In the 80s, this room would have been a yuppie's wet dream, but unfortunately it's now very outdated, smelly, and gross. For $200 a night, one would expect just a little more luxury and quality, especially from a place that has 'quality' in the name.

So, let's get down to specifics.

First, cleanliness. The cleanliness was severely lacking, which is a worry especially during a pandemic. The carpet was stained and honestly just needs to be ripped up at this point and replaced with something that can't absorb mysterious liquids. The bath tub had dirt in it, and there were bugs crawling EVERYWHERE. We found multiple rolly polly beatles, a dead earwig, a grasshopper, and loads of dead flies under the curtains.

Secondly, the amenities were lacking. The mini fridge under the counter had two small cartons of milk and a CC & Dry. There was no wine and certainly no other drinks despite there being a short 'mini bar' list. Where were the chocolates? The nuts?

Alongside the near empty mini fridge, the teabags and coffee that were available were presented on a blotchy looking silver platter under the sink and none of the items were local to the Sunraysia Region. This hotel is widely considered the 'best' hotel in Mildura and there is absolutely nothing in the rooms that pay homage to the region.

This hotel (or at least this room' needs to be transported into the current time period. Carpets need to go, colours and furniture need to be updated, cleanliness needs to be greatly improved, and there needs to be more items in the rooms that showcase and support local businesses.

Oh! I nearly forgot... there was no corkscrew bottle opener in the room. We had to call room service on the prehistoric beige landline but no one picked up. So, on our phones we dialed the hotel number and sure enough, someone picked up immediately. To their credit, we had a bottle opener at our door in under ten minutes, but a bottle opener is probably something that they would want to keep in the room for future guests.

Wow this is one of the worst stays of all time. The Grand is a terrible rabbit Warren of torn carpets and dodgy servant halls that lead to dreary old and damaged rooms. The first room I was given would have had a view of a dirt car park except it had a single high prison cell window. The send room was better but was on the main road where trucks slowed down for the traffic lights. So noisey it was impossible to sleep. There was no tissues in the room and the toilet paper was the cheapest I have ever encountered. The shower switched between cold and scalding hot making it impossible to shore. I went to make a cup of tea only to discover a dirty cup and spoon. The whole place is a disgrace.

My 3 stars for the hotel stay are purely for the location. Great if you would like a quick walk down the river side and jump on the paddle boat cruise, easy to get to all the great restaurants and centre for some local shopping. However, Hotel itself without any doubt was surprisingly underwhelming. We chose the superior family room hoping for an excellent stay but found the room was very tired with humidity patches on the walls, dirty balcony and spiderwebs. Curtains were mostly stained and sofa had a bad smell.. Supplied tea cups in the cupboard (4 out of the 5 that were supplied) had a rim down the bottom that had been previously used and not washed properly.

Was taken back when I found 2 cockroaches in the morning. Called reception and was asked when we we were leaving the room for the day so they could send cleaners in to change all bed linen ( I requested ) and clean the room, came back at 3pm and was still in the same condition we left it in the morning at 10am…

The hotel rooms and corridors definitely need a re-vamp, there is also no elevator to get to the second floor where the rooms are (which with luggages for a family of 4 was not easy to get up and down).
Pool space was nice, cleaned every morning.

I stayed for one night. I had read the reviews, which ranged from bad to good.

I found the location excellent, close to the city centre and tourist attractions. Staff were friendly.

My room overlooked the car park, but no noise in the room. The windows let in lots of natural light. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean (ditto the bathroom). But it looks tired (furniture is old with laminate beginning to peel) and does need updating. There was a strong smell of disinfectant.

Table and chairs were provided, conveniently located by the windows. A/c, tv and wifi worked well.

Biscuits, tea/coffee were provided. I really appreciate when a hotel provides biscuits with the tea/coffee - this is one feature I've rarely seen in a 5* luxury hotel.

The reception area, corridors etc were clean (no piles of rubbish as I read in some of the reviews).

I was catching an early morning coach so I found the hotel great, and reasonable value for money.

They certainly have more than 50 rooms, however, they will be of varying room types/standards. You would need to speak to them direct to find out how many of each room type they have.
