Detailed Reviews
We booked the garden view cottage which was a 2 bedroom unit. It was self contained with washing mc dryer, dishwasher etc.
Pros:
very clean
modern
beds were comfy
unit was spacious
The village had a games room, swimming pool, park-play for kids, bike carts which really added to the experience.
Staff was very helpful.
cons:
Miserly amount of tea / coffee / sugar satchels. No milk. Not even the little packs of long life milk.
This was the first place EVER that I have come across which did not provide milk for guests. Reception said I will have to buy it from them or go to the super market to buy it !!! SERIOUSLY !
Sugar was so less, we were rationing it by the end of the stay. Had we known, we would have brought our own supplies.
No salt/pepper. The reception was kind to arrange this for us. But again, sugar, salt, milk, tea, coffee are basic. How much money is BIG4 going to save by not providing them?
Swimming pool was solar heated. what's the point of having a heater when it only works when it is hot outside and is of no use when it is cold?
Peddle carts were a sneaky $10/hr hire. After paying almost $200/night, this could have been included. (please don't tell me that the charge is to 'encourage' people to hire them for a short time).
Games room was very basic. nothing for kids under 5. Also games cost extra which was annoying.
Staff REALLY need to step up their game and be a little welcoming, friendly and perky. Not that they were unhelpful, but they felt disengaged and unenthused. No smile, no welcome greeting, an apathetic good bye.

This Caravan Park is well set out, well placed which make it easy to get to the shops, whether it be walking or by car. The owner was very welcoming/ friendly and helpful, He helped recommend a couple of places to grab a feed from and took the time to show me on a map where they were located. The cabin was nice and fans were on already for me to help keep the Temp at nice level.

We stayed in the Garden Cottages at Whiters. Our cottage was a little outdated with the furniture and decor and I think blinds could do with a upgrade.
Our room was also up against the main road, and having a wire fence you could see right in our bedrooms. I'm also a light sleeper so when cars and trucks start going down the street in the early hours, seemed to start at 4am, I would wake up.
The park itself was well maintained and kids loved the tennis court, games room, basketball ring. Maybe could have the basketball court in its own section as you couldn't play if someone was playing tennis. There is also a games room with coin operated games. We took our own table tennis bats and ball. The pools were too cold for me so we didn't go in. They also had pedal carts which looked fun, was great seeing everyone enjoying themselves.

We were extremely satisfied with the facilities that were provided to us in the “Hibiscus cabin”. The complex was situated in a very convenient location not too far from the water front. Environment within the complex was safe, quiet, and ideal for an undisturbed holiday. We were well taken care at the reception by the lady in charge and supplied with many brochures and leaflets to plan our holiday. She explained all the facilities that were at our disposal, the attractions in the area, how to get to them and good restaurants we may enjoy. Her directions helped us immensely to plan our days activity and travel to places of interest. Cabin was well arranged with clean and cosy linen. We would have loved if a bottle of sanitizer too was made available in the cabin for guests use as that is another useful thing these days in a holiday cabin.

We stayed at this place hoping to rest our wearied bones and just to enjoy the property that we paid for. This was taken away from us by the people in the unit opposite us. This person parked his boat in a park that almost blocked incoming traffic (apparently this was OK - because he always parks it there) - He then decided to wash his boat off by placing a hose onto the side of our unit, whilst we were sleeping. The water pipes thumped through our unit the whole time he washed his boat down. The water pooled outside our unit mainly because of the amount of rain we have had and it was unable to escape. My wife disconnected the hose and was putting it in the shed attached to our unit when the gentleman from the other unit attacked her (verbally) telling her he owned both the units and could do whatever he liked. Note his unit had a hose outlet, as do all the villa units. I reported this attack to management who have not come back to me at all. We joined up with Discovery Parks before this incident because we had stayed at a number of properties on our Australian trip - but this attack left a sour taste in our mouth. Management advised he is the owner of those two units and he does park his boat there as they gave him permission but he should not have used our water spout creating the hammering noise through our unit and disturbing the very peace that we paid for and which would have been on paid to the owner. This was very disturbing that we were threatened by the owner of the unit with little recourse. I would hope discovery Parks/ Big 4 review this situation and report back to me because I have trouble giving someone a review, when asked, without receiving the use of and peace that we paid for. This owner clearly breached the bylaws of the park and needs to be responsible for their actions. A full apology would be a start.

Hi Ray, we are very disappointed to receive your review as this was discussed and apologised when you checked out. We understand the inconvenience caused you and your wife by the owner using the tap on your villa to wash his boat and are sorry that the noise disturbed your peace and quiet. We have since discussed this incident with the owner and again he has also apologised and has agreed that this will not happen again. The boat you mentioned was parked in his villa's allocated parking spot, and this has never been an issue in the 15 years that it has been periodically parked there. Please be assured that if there was ever a safety issue, we would step in and ensure it is moved to an alternative spot. Regarding the pooling water from the boat being washed in this parking spot, we are unsure how this would impact the area around your villa as there is a large stormwater drain in between the 2 villas. Once again, we do apologise for this and hope the remainder of your journey is a happy one.

We had this booked as a last stop before heading home and picked it because of the advertised kids activities and was bitterly disappointed. The games room that is available has to be paid for each game and at $2 each pool game or air hockey game it quickly added up and didn’t keep the kids occupied for very long. The spa isn’t working in the pool also. The worst part was when we came back from dinner the kitchen was full of ants and we had to throw out most of our food we had sitting in containers on the bench. When we went to get into bed there’s was also ants in the bed. We ended up leaving at night to drive the 3 hours home rather than sleep there. Was very very disappointed and wouldn’t stay there again.

Hi Tarra. As we take our guest satisfaction very seriously, we are sorry to see that your recent stay didn’t meet with your expectations, and we would have loved the opportunity to offer an alternative cabin. Unfortunately we were not made aware that you had any issues regarding your accommodation. Our team are available 24 hours onsite and would have been more than happy to assist to make your stay a comfortable one. We understand your frustration of having unwanted ants in your cabin, we do have a regular pest control schedule but due to external and environmental challenges we do sometimes have ants seeking refuge from the weather. We hope that you had a safe trip home, and do hope that you will choose to stay with us again, and remember our team are always available to help make your stay memorable for all the right reasons.

Stay here was great for my husband and I, we stayed here for a week, we walked everywhere and was happy with the location to the town, which wasn’t too far.
Accomodation was good, and was everything we needed, only thing that the bathroom was a bit dirty on the ceiling and the floor, otherwise was good.
Staff are friendly and the pool area was clean.
Would stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the big4 Whiters village. We stayed in a 2b villa just next to the bbq area and found it lovely and quiet but near enough to the facilities. The place was very clean and tidy upon arrival and reception very helpful. The pool are was clean and the kids thoroughly loved it, games room was a bit tired and need a bit of a refresh and some games were out of order. I loved the location it was nearby everything. Highly recommend to stay here it will be a great retreat for the family.

Paulina from BIG 4 Whiters Holiday Village was a great host. She was very thoughtful, turning on some lights and the heating as we were arriving after dark.
The accommodation was clean and comfortable for our overnight stay. The Holiday Village is also very conveniently located near shops for picking up essentials and dinner.
