Coastal Waters Motel is definitely not one to drive pass without stopping to stay at. The host owners were very friendly and helpful when it came to making suggestions as to what we should visit. The location is perfect if you don’t want too must of the foot traffic noise, but is still close to the shops and restaurants and the bridge that connects you to the ocean (2 min walk). The rooms that we saw were very spacious, comfortable and clean. We will return without hesitation.

The Coastal Waters Motor Inn is a gem. The on-site owners were great to deal with when l telephoned with a query, and were helpful but not obtrusive during our stay.
We stayed in Room 5 (a triple - we didn't need the extra bed but it was the only room available when we booked). The room was spacious (even with the extra bed), had a small kitchenette and was spotless. The bathroom in this room had also been renovated to make it accessible (disabled friendly). Parking is available in front of your room. The gardens surrounding the motel were manicured, which made it a beautiful, tranquil setting. There was also a pool and BBQ area which we didn't use.
While the motel is located on the Highway, (The Esplanade) we did not hear any traffic noise. The motel is situated at the end of the shopping area, but it is a pleasant walk to access anything that you need.

When we first entered our room we had a lovely surprise. Very clean , large with a separate sitting area with a large tv and comfy recliner chairs. The bathroom had a separate shower and a 2 person spa which we used most days ( very relaxing ) with thick fluffy towels which was most appreciated. There also was a second TV so when you wanted to lay in bed and chill out in the evenings you could do so. The pool was so awesome and we swim in it at least twice a day. Even though it was only 21° c on a couple of days the solar heated pool was lovely to swim in. The garden setting was stunning and well maintained. Location was good and only a short walk to the beach and shops. We were very surprised that even over the public holidays that our rooms were cleaned every single day and that was greatly appreciated ( I can tell you this isn’t always done at all places we have stayed at ). So would we recommend The coastal waters to stay at most definitely. We would suggest that you ask for one of the rooms out the back away from the main road. We found it very peaceful and quiet and slept well each nite. Thanks again for a wonderful place to stay…. Christopher and Christine⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a small and well maintained motel. It is a good walk from the town and shops. There is a pool but we did not have time to enjoy as we were only staying 1 night due to fires in the area and we need to head back home. We stayed in room 12 and were disappointed to find out that the wifi was very poor in this room - it didn’t work in the room. We used our devices on the front porch of the room. Large room with 2 TV. The bathroom was great with a good size shower and a spa bath. The motel does supply breakfast but we left early so missed out on the opportunity. My other concern was the speediness that the motel charged your credit card for the room. Ours was charged in the morning that we were to arrive - hadn’t got there yet. Guess they want to make sure you pay upfront. We were never made aware of this occurring when we initially booked. The issue was that even though I gave credit card details when I booked the motel, I intended to use a cash card to pay for the room. They would not reverse the credit card charge so I was lumbered with the charge on my credit card that was not planned. I have never had a motel do this before. We still liked the place though and hope they rethink their policy in respect to room payment and fix the wifi in room 12. May look elsewhere next time though.

After a long road trip up to NSW and back we stayed at many motels and apartments, I would agree with other comments with the driveway being a little narrow, but not annoying.
The Inn is a short walk from the footbridge over to the beach.
On arrival the owner checked the room prior which was different.
On entering, the first thing that we noticed was the size of the room, having a queen bed and small 2 person table and chairs with a couch and still had masses of room to walk around, the bathroom was huge with a large spa in the corner, with a shower and separate toilet, it was very comfortable.
Had a large flat screen on the wall which made it feel very home like, with bar fridge and microwave with the normal extras.
As we only stayed overnight we didn't try the pool out, the gardens were a nice touch and were nice for a change instead of the usual dullness.
There wasnt a view, but honestly we didnt look outside a lot except to look at the garden.
The bed was very comfortable, we liked the nice little touches with shell ornaments.
Usually we look for the little things with cleanliness and maintenance upkeep when we stay.

We had stayed in apartments where the manager told us we had to push on the door to open it as it was jamming, ended up kicking it to open it, another had no microwave for the basics, to others that carpet was ripped or broken loose tiles, obvious filthy mold on shower curtains, really filthy exhaust vents to Lino lifting that we were worried about moving chairs that they would pull up the Lino.

Must admit we looked extra hard at Coastal Waters for one main reason, we couldn't find anything wrong with the room cleanliness or maintenance.
Wifi worked easily and well enough for general usage.
Had extra large towels which was nice for a change, had power points either side of the bed for charging devices,

There is absolutely nothing to fault about this charming motel!! It’s such a joy, to stay in accommodation that is actually run by the owners – the level of care shows in every detail. Friendly and professional check in, an incredibly spacious room that was immaculately clean; likewise a huge and well appointed bathroom with nice hot water and great pressure in the shower. The bed was comfortable, lovely linens, everything we could want. We ordered breakfast and it was delivered a smidge ahead of time and was excellent. Most motel breakfast fare is decent but basic, however this really went that little extra mile, particularly the avocado smash breakfast – all delicious and good value. Location is good - we walked into town for dinner, a flat, easy 20 minute walk. We highly recommend Coastal Waters and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again next time we’re through the area.

When I drive down to Melbourne, I go out of my way to come here. I enjoy stopping at Lakes Entrance, and Coastal Waters Motor Inn (which was originally a Best Western) always offers comfortable clean rooms. I have various health issues, so the comfy beds in the room are important for me: especially if I've spent 7+ hours in the car.

Also, the owners are lovely and ready to offer advice about the area.

The other important thing to note is that since this place stopped being a Best Western it's also significantly cheaper. And by significantly, I mean upwards of $100/night cheaper. But the quality hasn't changed.

The Motor Inn is across from the water so you can walk along the beach and the sunset and sunrise are beautiful to watch. It's always walking distance to a great Fish and Chip shop, Woolies, a couple of bottle-Os and a few good bookshops.

Driving out of Lakes Entrance to Melbourne (as well as coming the other way) is such a lovely drive, and far more enjoyable than the long straight tedium of the highway/motorway.

The property is even better than it looks in photos that were online. The gardens were beautiful. The buildings are typical late 20th century brick mock colonial. However, the 2 bedroom apartment was furnished and decorated with up to minute casual beach vibe furniture and decorative items.
The kitchen was very well equipped, including a Nespresso machine with coffee pods. Oil, salt & pepper, cling wrap, foil etc were all supplied.
Comfortable beds, plenty of pillows & extra blankets.
The property was spotlessly clean.
We chatted with the owners and they were delightful, really cared about the motel , even did the cleaning themselves.
They’d been too busy to upload new interior photos so do not be put off be slightly out of date looking furniture.
A great location for beach, shops etc

We stayed in a King Spa room over Easter. The room was very spacious and clean with a comfortable bed, table and chairs, a couch plus two recliners.
There was a TV to watch from the bed or couch, plus another facing the recliners, giving you a choice of where to relax.
Our room was right at the back so no road noise but also no noise from other rooms as it is very well insulated for sound.
The bathroom was large with a great shower and separate toilet. Can't comment on the spa as we never intended to use it.
Importantly for us, you have designated parking right at your door.
The owners very kindly left chocolates in our room on Easter Sunday.
I have no negative comments at all and would not stay anywhere else on future visits.
