We've been here for only 2 days, but we were surprised at the very first moment. The cottages are looking cute from the outside and are spacious from the inside. The bathroom is luxe and the kitchen got everything you need. We spend one day at the pool and it felt like a Bali-vibe with all te nature around you. I recommend this place for everyone who will visit Lakes Entrance.

This was a 2 night stop over on our travels, you need to look out of the sign which is a bit small or you may drive past. There are around 1/2 dozen S/C cottages spread out over the site, which includes a small pool, BBQ area, as well as a spa, you need to book this first. The cottages are very spacious and cater for all of your needs from short to long stays, there are washing and drying machines in the cottage and washing power is provided, very useful if you have been on the road for a few weeks. We had a 2 cottage but only had use of 1 bedroom, these are not air conditioned but the main lounge is, so not bad. There is a full kitchen with all you need if dinning in, however we eat out down in the town. The bathroom is a jack and Jill with a separate loo. The car port was a nice touch to keep the car cool when the sun is out. it’s about a 6 minute drive along one road into town and the beach. There’s plenty of parking along the front. A great little place out of the way to relax, but not to far from the centre. Very Friendly and Helpful owners with an interesting history to the place.

It is always lovely to read our reviews - especially from our international guests, as their perspective is often different to local travellers. We know the fully equipped laundry is appreciated! This review gives a good description of many of the features of the cottage and surrounds. Thank you for taking the time to publish your thoughts and we hope you continue finding great places to stay and experience. We loved having you stay.

Loved the spa cottage with fireplace. We were looking for a mid-year relaxing break away and we got it! Room was spacious, extremely clean and well equipped. The stacked wood and kindling was a lovely surprise on arrival, We had the place to ourselves and throughly enjoyed it. It was a very quick drive into town. Pool looked nice and outdoor area would be great for families in summer/warm weather.

We are guessing your review was for a stay last winter as I respond during the extremely hot weather this March! We stock the wood for the fires in the winter months but not during summer. We are so pleased to have your review of our cottage and you must take a break with us again soon.

We stayed in Fishpen cottage and rate it as the best self catered accommodation we have experienced. It is so spacious and clean. The attention to detail , layout, decor is wonderful and contributes to feeling so relaxed. It has a kitchen with all appliances and utilities. The washing machine and dryer came in handy . We loved having a spa bath. It also has a very comfortable bed. Would highly recommend

What can we say but thank you. It is a positive guest experience we strive for and while the last two years have mandated some changes, we are so happy when guests come away happy too. We also appreciated the personal thank you in the cottage guestbook.

Small complex of 6 quaint cottages nestled in between large gum trees. We booked a one bedroom cottage which is very spacious in size. The decor is dated but it’s what you’d expect in rural Australia. The bed & bedding was crisp and clean, but the cottage as a whole could benefit from a deep clean. Full kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need to prepare a meal. The large lounge area with tv also came with a large wood burner - winter would be warm and cozy here. Large king bed - very comfy, and large en-suite bathroom with a shower and a massive jacuzzi bath. The place is lovely and light & bright with vaulted ceilings. There’s a small fenced in pool with pool loungers and covered dining area in the middle of the complex. The whole development is very peaceful. Wifi provided but it’s super slow - less than 1 mbps. Great location that’s peaceful but it’s just a short 5 min drive into the town centre.

Thank you Gustav - I have really enjoyed your detailed review and I'm sure future guests will as well. While our cottages retain a fisherman's cottage feel deliberately - I am sure even in rural Victoria you do also find edgy contemporary accommodation too, not at our price point though! I do also note your "deep clean" comment and simply ask for a little slack as we have juggled covid requirements, heavy bookings, unseasonable windy weather and staff unavailability to keep trading! Rest assured our desired regular full clean for your cottage happened inside and out the week after your stay with us. I am sorry you found some issues. We are however delighted you enjoyed the cottage and also the many fine dining options in our area - something Gippsland is not always acknowledged for. Sadly you missed "Sodafish" who suffered some as the same issues we have, but they too are up and operating again, so hopefully you will return to the Gippsland Lakes again soon and try some more of the recommended food and wine in our region.

We stayed in cottage number 3, which was right at the front of the entry on the main road. The cottage was cute, nice and open. The first thing we noticed when we got out of the car was the huge amount of mozzies. I know it’s not the accommodations fault but it was very off putting. Coming inside we noticed the kitchen didn’t have an oven and was replaced with a small microwave (conventional oven). Seemed that everything else needed in the kitchen was there, except they only had 1 teaspoon plus something I really can’t stand is when they don’t give you a ‘NEW’ sponge in the kitchen. Instead there was a really OLD used sponge. In the family room, we were disappointed as there was a small 2 seater couch and a single chair. Honestly to be able to relax and enjoy sitting on the couch, they need 2 x 3 seater couches. We like to be able to put our legs up and relax and what is there isn’t very comfortable. The room is definitely big enough for it as well. The open fireplace was amazing, which we had going at night and there’s a split system to have the heater (was cold during our trip) going during the day. You can have the fireplace going but you’d need to ‘purchase’ wood from them. You are given a pile of wood in the evening only. Sadly we had one night where we weren’t given any wood. We texted the owners asking about the delivery & the text we received from the owner basically said that they believed we’d already used our night wood. They didn’t believe us when we said we hadn’t received it. After several messages back and forth, they finally said ‘sorry’ delivery guy forgot to give us wood!!! For the bedroom, great set up, just to note that the bed is extremely hard, for me it felt like I was sleeping on a door. Very painful for my back! There is a TV in the bedroom but it’s around 12 inches and reception wasn’t the best. If you leave the bedroom doors open you can watch the main TV from the family room, so that worked well. Other than the little issue we had, it’s a lovely set up. If you like dogs, there’s a beautiful dog that visits the cabin, he always came to our doors and is very friendly.

Wow - probably the longest review we have ever read! Thank you for covering everything although it seems only Barney (our Golden Retriever) ticked all the boxes. The kitchen set up is clearly described on our website and most third party sites we list on, so finding there is a convection microwave should not have been a surprise. It is listed, as is the ceramic cooktop - neither have been replaced, they have been installed for the 17 years we have run the business. Re the firewood issue - you neglected to mention that when we did hear back from our wood delivery guy - he apologised that he had forgotten to top up up the wood that one night, waiting for the torrential rain we had that day to ease. However when he got our message, delivered it immediately in pouring rain for you. I have checked some of the other items and rectified/solved - teaspoons had slipped under the cutlery divider! Yours was a one bedroom cottage designed for two people so we feel the fittings and furnishings are suitable and comfortable for two - however we understand that may not be the case for everybody.

Very pleased with our stay. Very clean and tidy. The couches were slightly uncomfortable by being too hard and not soft. Other than that it was good. The grounds are beautiful and would have a myriad of birdlife but it was pouring rain when we were there so we couldn’t bird watch. The spa was also closed due to covid restrictions. The area is very quiet and relaxing. The only thing we were disgruntled with was that we had to empty the bins and wash the dishes when we paid a premium to stay there. I didn’t expect to do any housework.

Thank you for reviewing us - it is lovely to be open again after so long in lockdown. We are very happy you enjoyed your stay - ironically most people like the firm leather couches so sorry it didn't suit you. Doing some courtesy cleaning is very standard practice in most self catering accommodation and helps keep costs down so you don't actually pay an actual premium.

We stayed for a week as a family of 4, two children aged 5 and 7. The Cottage (Number 2) was spacious, light and bright. The house had everything we could have needed. There was no conventional oven, but a convection microwave so a bit of learning there for us, but all of the manuals are supplied. The pool was amazing, the kids spent time in it every day. You are 2 minutes drive out of town, so still very local and easy to get to everything. Would highly recommend a stay!
