Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Old fashioned inside and out, yet air-con, superb beer and wine, excellent dining, spacious clean and modern bedrooms, central location to walk (almost) anywhere.
We were treated to a light and sound show in the form of an Aussie thunderstorm as well - spectacular, but luck only for this sight.

In order to avoid horrid fast-“food” whilst driving the interstate route, we dined here for our dinner on the way through. A nice old and friendly country town pub, menu was comprehensive and appealing. Having to wait an hour and a quarter from time of ordering was just a bit too slow I’m afraid. The food was really nice but I guess the kitchen was battling to keep up.

We were on our way back to Melbourne and were looking for somewhere to eat down the Main Street and stumbled across the Royal Bistro which was serving meals until 8.30pm. We placed our orders or chicken schnitzel and spag. bol. Meals arrived fairly quickly and were hot but not huge compared to some county pubs. Our chips were a little over cooked and the salad consisted of a few lettuce leaves, a piece of cucumber and some capsicum. We were hungry so ate our meals, grateful we were able to find the bistro still open and food fresh and tasty.

Have had good meals here pre-covid for years when in town. This week went to bistro last night whilst others were dining and waited at bar area for 10 minutes and no service so left. Tonight went again and as approaching bistro bar area a worker said yes no problems for a meal and rang a bell, said someone will be with me shortly!! Again waited and no-one arrived so after 10 minutes left again. Joint was empty anyway unfortunately so maybe Covid has ruined it!!

Never again. This place needs to shut their doors now it's so poorly run and an ambarrasment raw meatballs and burnt parmi. Owner couldn't care he claims he has the best chef he's ever had. Well when you see the pathetic basic menu clearly chef is not capable of much. However it was the owners attitude that really needs to be addressed.

Refer to reviews under "The Royal Hotel Horsham". There are two registrations of this venue. We ate here. We will never go back. Do yourself a favour and read the reviews on the other side. Premium prices, zero service, cannot even say how bad the food was.

The Royal is a grand old dame in Horsham, with beautifully restored timer areas at the entrance to the dining room. We had a great meal here with superb service, friendly staff, and excellent selection on the menu, including fresh coffin-bay oysters!

The Lamb Backstrap was cooked perfectly, lovely selection of hot vegetables and salads in the self service area, and some nice wines by the glass available.

Recommended. Also family friendly.

A great country hotel dining room experience all-round...

Thanks Grant!

From the beautiful pressed tin ceilings and the beautiful wall panels and leadlight windows in the foyer this is a genuine old fashioned but excellently maintained country pub.

The good quality hearty main course meals are mainly in the $15 to $20 range with some around $30 and deserts around half that in price. Extensive serve yourself salad and vegetable bars at no extra cost. Pepper grinder aviailabe at the bar. The wine list shows 6 white Wines and 8 red wine at $22 to $30 a bottle and a range of lagers and other beers and ciders on tap.

Exceptionally fine chips came with our meals. We had garlic prawn parmigiana and Atlantic salmon follwed by caramel nut sundae and sticky date pudding.Great.

Exceptionally cheery staff. A far far cry from the mixed grill experience (with meat the texture and thickness of masonite) that used once to be standard fare in many pubs and cafes.

Stopped here for lunch and we were not disappointed. The pub is beautifully kept and the staff super friendly. I had the fried blue grenadier the wife the barra and the gluten intolerant daughter the carbonara. All well cooked and the desert to chose from that came with the mrs meal(which they nicely put in a container to take away)she said was truely delicious. Well done to all involved with this great pub.

Great historic pub. Stayed one night and it was very quaint. Host responded to emails quickly and was very hospitable. Great location too, very central to where I needed to be. Rooms were clean and bed comfy.
Thanks

I didn’t need to take a sleeping bag when I stayed there, and there was a power point & heater, but I don’t remember if there was a fan. Anyway, they’re a friendly bunch, so just call them & ask.
