Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We chose the Darlot primarily based on their being pet friendly, so we could take our Poodle. On arrival I was concerned by the dated exterior look, and the 'reception' reeked of tobacco. The pool and bbq area look a little unkempt. However, I was relieved to see that our room was very clean and well appointed. Comfy bed and very spacious. Our room would be suitable for some one with mobility issues, with wide doors to the bathroom, large shower with hand rails. The staff was friendly and not at all intrusive. A comfortable stay and great value for money, I'd happily stay there again.

I only stayed for one night so was just after somewhere to sleep. Price was very good, beds comfortable & the room stayed dark in the morning thanks to decent window coverings. Bathroom was a good size, as was the room itself. Downsides were that the room was somewhat dated and the office reeked of cigarette smoke.

Summary - it was a winner.
After reading many OLD reviews on here I feel it only fair to give the Darlot some update and justice.
The room interiors have been nicely refurbished with quality materials, mattress and bedding.
Sure this Motel is "shabby" to look at from the street, but once inside your room its as good as any of the "newer" Motels in Horsham.
Price was good, wifi was strong, lots of hot water in the shower, very clean - I slept well.

We stayed 2 nights. The price was reasonable and the room very spacious with it's own separate toilet instead of being in the bathroom. Everything was very clean with matching dinner set for two, a microwave, jug, toaster, hair dryer & iron with board and flat screen TV. Everything worked. The place was set back from the highway and was quiet. The management were very friendly and obliging. We would definitely recommend this motel.

Stopped here overnight on our way to Adelaide from Melbourne. An older motel about 1 km from the downtown area and reasonably quiet.

The room was functional with the usual tea and coffee facilities plus fridge, microwave and toaster. They also provided plates and cutlery for those who have their own food to prepare.

The wifi was fine although you need to ask for the password when checking in as it's not listed in the room. The TV has several Foxtel channels.

The beds were fine, a little firmer than most but that's a personal preference.

All in all a reasonable place to stay.

The room was quite large for motel accommodation which was good. There was a small dining table two chairs as well as two smaller comfortable chairs to watch the tv. There was actually real milk provided for tea and coffee. There is a pool but we didn't use it but others did. Separate toilet and shower which is good, however, still had the plastic shower curtain which is so annoying - when are they going to find something better? Overall it was clean and functional, just a little overpriced but I guess you get that when it's the holiday period.

Horsham is geographically pretty much half way between Adelaide and Melbourne on the Western Highway so a great stopover town. The Darlot is about 2km from town centre and typical of the 80's drive inn roadside motels that line most towns entrances in Australia. Nothing flash from the outside but don't let it fool you. The owners have upgraded the rooms and they are comfortable, clean with new furniture, bed, fridge, microwave and TV with good Foxtel channels. There are tables with a couple of chairs and ashtray outside the rooms and its the typical park up to your door arrangement. The check in staff great and room comfy and quite, although we did have a few rowdy neighbours beyond 10pm, but thankfully they went to bed. The rooms are pretty well insulated so not paper thin walls either and they don't get lots of road noise. Ask for a room with a higher number, ours was Room 5 in the middle was great but there was some road noise, but 12, 13 , 14 are furthest from the road and next to pool complex. They do a cooked breakfast if needed, just fill in a form at reception. There is the famous Toy's Chinese restaurant opposite and 2 minutes walk or you can go into town in 2 minutes drive to restaurants.
I highly recommend the Darlot and will return for sure.

Live Wires hanging out of the wall , basin cracked, no hot water pressure, I felt itchy and dirty after having a shower . Couch needs to be cleaned Kids pool had tiles hanging off and the main pool needs repairs No wi-fi after saying if does and limited very limited Austar channels
Owners are very nice this is not against them but needs to be closed or an up grade . Won't be back. No offence

After seeing the entrance and grounds, my wife & I looked at each other and said "oh dear". However, don't judge a book by it;s cover! The managers were nice and the rooms are clearly being upgraded at the moment. Rooms are a generous size and although aged, are nicely appointed. New carpet and TV and a comfy bed. Only critisism was pretty average water pressure in the shower but that was no major drama. Only $10 by taxi to the centre of town. The cabbies are very friendly too!
