We enjoyed our few days at Sylvania homestead. Also very fortunate to be warmly welcomed by Rowena & Glen, (plus patch the dog plus a few angora goats.)
The countryside was inspiring, peaceful, calming, with a interesting exciting history. Sitting in the shade of the veranda sipping a cup of tea & beverage we were blissfully happy
Rowena showed us around, the farm shed, explained the History past & present of the Angora goats which was very interesting. Their are many activities you can enjoy should you wish to for adults & children.
Overall we enjoyed our visit & will return again soon.
A must visit to this homestead - farm with an award winning hostess.

Rowena, Glen and June were perfect hosts. The house “Mill End Lodge” was so comfortable. Lots of history and period mud brick home, with slate floors and high ceilings. It was extremely clean. Lovely. Rowena is so helpful. And, we had lots of interesting chats. It is full of history. Horsham is only ten minutes away but we found we had everything we needed and more on the farm. The baby goats and pet lambs were lovely. The fresh eggs from the chooks were very welcome. And patch the protector dog even protected us!, she is beautiful. Mum and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to go back. We highly recommend Sylvania Park.

We had a wedding at Syvalia Park. The bridal couple and family all stayed at the two homesteads. Excellent facilities. Clean and comfortable beds. The owners could not do enough for us. Excellent people with great values. They made our stay so stress- free on such an important day. Reception area was terrific with them even bringing the goats up to the pens so the children could see and pat them. Northing was a bother. Fabulous service with a genuine smile.
Could not recommend them more highly.

My wife and I stayed for three nights during the winter in the 5 bedroom house (at $75 per person per night this was great value). At the time we booked the accommodation there were only two comments on tripadvisor (1 excellent and 1 poor). Im so glad we chose to ingnore the poor comment. This is a lovely farmstay in a heritage style house on 500 acres. Its only 8 kilometres from Horsham and 30 minutes drive from the Grampians. The owners could not do enough for us and were extremely accomodation with my request to participate in farm activities. The house was beautifully furnished and a big wood heater in the farmhouse kitchen was piped up to the living area which made it very warm and cosy. Loved the open spaces to wander along the adjoining river and the piece and quite the house afforded us. With a 4 and 5 bedroom house plus a 100 plus seat reception building on site this property would be great for a wedding. We will be back.

Stayed for 6 nights (8 adults and 6 children ranging from 2-11). Great stay had by all, in part because everyone felt relaxed and appreciated the rural, farm experience and because of Rowena, Glenn (and family) being such genuine and accommodating hosts. Highlights: Roaming the farm, farm tour/tractor ride, star gazing and kids feeding the chooks and collecting eggs. A highly recommended stay.

We had a wedding to attend at this centre and a family member booked the 5 bedroom cottage for a number of family members to stay in. It was very convenient to the wedding reception but that was its only good point. The price was outrageous for regional victoria at $150 per room per night. I am currently researching B & Bs in Paris and finding them cheaper than this place which is in the middle of nowhere. The bed was like a fabric covered block of concrete. No connecting bathroom to our room. Breakfast provisions were ok and a nice basket of fruit left for guests. It would only be a place you would choose if you had a wedding or such next door as it is about 10 mins drive from the Horsham township.

Response from Rowena D, Owner at Sylvania Park
Responded 15 Sept 2014
I was very disappointed to read this review but more importantly, that this reviewer did not enjoy their stay with us. The house that was mentioned was booked by a family member, and includes 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms for members of their own family to share. At the time of this occupancy, the tariff was $66 per person, which includes breakfast and G.S.T. I don’t believe this is an unreasonable cost for accommodation in a self contained homestead, which is rated 4 Star by AAA tourism. And as for the negative comments about the distance to Horsham, this is something we actually promote to our visitors. Accommodation on a rural property but close to the convenience of a large township for shopping and activities.

After seeing this place online, we decided to take a long weekend with our family here. Rowena and Glen are great hosts, catering to all needs and also quite responsive to anything additional. The value is amazing for the quality and inclusions of the stay. The houses are over 100 years old and have had a great renovation done to them that reflects the period of the time. There are plenty of farm animals to see and interact with and many different activities for the kids to do such as tractor rides, gnome hunt, scavenger hunt, feed chickens, goats etc. If you need a weekend away from the hustle and bustle, this is the place to go. We will be back for use

We as a group of 10 people (4 families) stayed in this place for 2 nights. Based on the price and the pervious reviews my expectation from the place was high. So here is my experience: Location: the place is in the middle of nowhere, no views, not much trees, not much to do in the surrounding. Over an hour drive to Grampians and almost 1.5 hour drive to Halls gap. However it is close to Horsham (almost 15 min drive) Quality of House: we stayed at the 5 bedroom house, 3 of them has their own ensuite and other 2 sharing one bathroom. The house is over 100 years old but has been renovated in early 2000’s, but you could find plenty of broken and not in order stuff in the property, like flush, doors, windows net and etc. the furniture in the house is quite old and some of them are broken and could be unsafe to use like broken seats. Toilets and the bathrooms are clean and tide the house in average is clean except the beds. The sheet on the bed wasn’t clean at all, we found hairs and dirt possibly from previous guests in the beds, and luckily we had our own sheet so we put ours on top. Weather temperature during our stay was over 30, so we used the aircon which was quite productive to cooldown the house. Farm: they have goats and chickens in the farm, if you lucky you may find some fresh eggs from the farm which are for free. You and your children could feed the goats and chickens, other than that not much to do in the farm, they have a lovely dog in the farm, however in general she is human friendly but she goes upset and barks if you want to walk in the farm. Owners: the owners are lovely people, specifically Glenn, they were helpful to provide comments and advice on how to make shortcuts and etc. Summary: in my opinion the place is overpriced for the quality, I do not recommend the place for holiday makers, as the place and the location is not offering much to do.
