I was so surprised at how great this hotel was. From the moment I walked in the reception staff were great. My room was lovely. The bed so incredibly comfortable, room was a great size and a mini bar with adequate drinks and goodies. My favourite part of this hotel was the wonderful bar and restaurant. I was visiting my sick, elderly mum in Ballarat and returning home to eat every night was such a treat. The Bar manager Supon makes the absolute best Dry Martini. I was hooked. The food was beautifully presented and so delicious. Breakfast was a bargain for the price with a fresh juicer available and healthy breakfast choices as well as the usual. Checkout was smooth and wonderfully looked after by Raph. I will definitely return to this great hotel when I am in the area again. Check my pictures for delicious meal photos....Car parking is outdoors and you can probably park in the street without the cost.

Hotel's Favourite
Our family room was spacious, modern and perfectly clean. The beds were comfy and the room was quiet. The buffet breakfast was well stocked with healthy options, both hot and cold choices. Everything was fresh and delicious. We didn’t pre-book parking and couldn’t get a spot in the secure carpark when we arrived. The on-street parking was adequate though and free until 9am. I’d definitely stay here again.

There are a couple of areas in which Rydges Geelong can improve. The TV wasn't plugged in in the room, so I had to try and move furniture to figure out where to plug it in. The breakfast dining area had a sign saying "Please wait to be seated" but there was no one there to seat you at a table. I also had to ask for a face washer as apparently that is only upon request that that is provided.

Old tired hotel except for a nice renovation in the reception and bar / restaurant area. I had stayed in this hotel many years ago when it was a different brand so I knew it was well located. Bit of a traffic jam when we arrived at the front because you cannot get in the car park until you have checked in and paid $27 to park. Wasn't advised of that when I booked. I stayed in the car while my wife checked in. We are Rydge's members and they give you points and a free drink but the receptionist ignored my wife advising of the membership. I had to go back later and get them to add it to the registration. Room was o.k., the building is old and dated and not much they can do about that. The bed and furnishing were o.k. When we checked out they asked the normal minibar question to which we advised we hadn't had anything. They advised the bill had been emailed to us. When i opened the email after our trip I found that I had been charged $5 for a coke we hadn't had. I emailed the bill back and asked them to credit the coke we hadn't had but was ignored. When you add the parking cost and coke $240 is pretty expensive for this standard of hotel.

Dear Fred, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered during your stay, and we appreciate you bringing them to our attention. We regret any inconvenience caused by the parking fee and the miscommunication regarding it, all our confirmation emails provides a link to where you can pre-book your carpark so once you arrive you can drive straight in. We apologize for the oversight regarding your Rydges membership and the charge for the coke you didn't consume. If time permits it would be good if you could give the hotel and ask for myself to discuss this further. Kind regards, Tobias Bondegard Hotel Operations Manager

Well our luck had to run out after Warrnambool & Torquay but its not a complete disaster. It was clean although a little tired, bed was ok, staff efficient & friendly but I think theres better value to be found in Geelong closer to the promenade area. Its about 3.5 actually - not a 4 but better than 3

Toilet door squeaked loudly opening and shutting it. No face washers was weird. Not sure what we were supposed to wash our faces with. The dinner menu was very weird with too many fancy dishes and not something basic to choose from. The full breakfast was very simple compared to other hotels/motels full breakfasts.

I felt the hotel was not value for money at $687 for 2 nights. This did not include parking which would of been $27 more and did not include breakfast each day which would of been an extra $32 per day - so an extra $64. I have stayed in hotel all over the world and understand the economics of demand and supply and I understand that it was a busy weekend in Geelong with the Bike riding on - but i do think I got value for my money. If parking and breakfast were included in that rate - it would have been better. The hotel was clean, bed comfortable and staff attentive.

Bed and pillows were excellent! Room was tidy. Shower needed a good scrub, lots of brown mould on the bottom and around the shower door. The sink also wasn’t really clean, as had the brown stain around the plug. This wiped off on the towel😬
