Detailed Reviews
We recently spent three nights at Eden Oak Geelong staying in a standard guest room in the Waratah wing. Eden Oaks, which is located across from the Botanical Gardens, is a little too far from the Geelong CBD to walk. Parking is available under the building. The Waratah wing is on several levels and there are steps down from the carpark and then steps up to to the rooms.
Check-in was quick and easy. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom amenities were good quality. A guest laundry was available - the washing machine required 2 x $1 coins, with the dryer being free and laundry powder is available from reception at no cost.
The continental breakfast was included in our room rate. As well as a very wide range of breads (and in addition to standard condiments, cream cheese, mashed avocado, sliced tomato and red onion are available for bagels), of particular note are that there are ham & cheese, cheese & tomato and ham, cheese & tomato toasties which can be warmed in a sandwich maker. Rather than pasties a range of cakes are available.
A few things which resulted in a slightly lower ranking:
* In the Waratah wing some of the room numbers and words had fallen off the walls and the carpet in the common areas looked fairly old,
* In the games room one of the pool tables only had 14 balls,
* A potential safety issue is that several of the doors have an approximately 20 mm high "lip" which are a potential trip hazard; while these appear to once have had some form of marking this has largely worn off.
* Another potential safety issue is that the hot and cold water taps in the shower work in opposite directions.
On the Saturday night there were some "hoons" with loud vehicles near the motel; acknowledging that there is little the hotel can do to address this issue.
Our three night stay (which included a Saturday) averaged $182 per night which is reasonable value; the hotel requires prepayment 60 days prior to your stay (or at the time of booking).

This place has the BEST breakfast included in the very reasonable price and also some freebies in the bar fridge. The setting is quiet and surrounded by parkland. The common areas are beautifully laid out too. You won't do better than this. Amazing.

Only a few minutes drive from town and the waterfront and its restaurants, Eden Oak is situated in parklands away from traffic and noise.
This is a lovely property offering big modern rooms, large bathrooms, comfortable beds, mini bars with a few free treats, a fabulous pool heated, hot spa and bar.
The complimentary continental breakfast this morning was absolutely amazing offering many bread types including gluten free, toasties, cereal, fruit and yogurt, muffins and self serve juices and tea and coffee.
My only negative and I really don’t understand why… they offer no plastic glasses to enjoy a beer or wine beside the pool… really??
So if you want a drink whilst at the pool, you have to sit at the inside bar
To be offered a beer in a coffee cup as a solution???
Other than this, an awesome property

We stayed here for 4 nights. The property was quite unique and much bigger than we expected, but it was a lovely stay. There is lots of parking underneath the building. The reception staff were helpful and efficient. We had a good room with a comfortable bed and air conditioning. There were tea and coffee making facilities and a well fitted bathroom with shower. Buffet breakfast was included and had a good range of cold items and toasties. There is a bar and a pool in a courtyard. For us, the highlight was the location in the middle of the park. While it was a long walk from restaurants etc., the location made up for it. On the negative side, the building is on lots of levels, the stairs could be an issue for some. We did have a couple of practical issues with the room which were resolved immediately which is always the sign of a well managed establishment.

Hard to do this review as there was nothing really wrong but there were a few misses. I got the feeling it is mostly a conference hotel - and one that has been retrofitted to update it! Staff were all really young and a bit too casual for a hotel. As it was Easter I had to book two nights and it was quite expensive given it is quite basic. Breakfast is included which is quite lovely. No lunch at Easter and a very small bar menu - Mainly pizza this weekend. Good wine list. Setting is not as nice as I hoped / I got a view of the car park and a bit of food course. It is in the botanic gardens but the gardens are very basic and mostly grass and trees! Nice pool area but mostly a bit overpriced for me.

Read the reviews and thought it couldn't be true - it is truly an amazing place. Reception was very friendly, rooms are minimalist, but have plenty of room around the bed, very good bench and plenty of cupboard/storage space for bags. Bathroom is very chic, beautifully decorated, again plenty of bench space also. Facilities are endless - beautiful pool and spa and surrounds, bar area, break out areas, pool tables, and a continental breakfast, the room looks out to the gardens and the variety for breakfast was more than enough, it was amazing. Tucked at the back of the Botanical garden you really aren't that far out of town. The suites look amazing so may try one of these next time. Thank you or an amazing stay.

A beautiful location in the middle of gardens. Very close to the coast and the city centre alike. Staff were very helpful and accommodating, bed was comfortable. We had the daily breakfast which consisted of muesli/granola with fruit, fruit bowls, the usual toast and toppings, some sweet treats and toasted sandwiches along with fruit juices and hot beverages. Although the bar was not open during the week the staff at reception serve you drinks when asked. No meals other than breakfast available during our stay. A lovely peaceful stay hearing birds chirping in the morning instead of traffic. Will definitely return if Im in the area again.

I was blown away by this property. You feel like you’re in country Victoria, not the middle of the city. The service was fantastic! Marie at the front desk was an outstanding host, and she really made us feel welcome. She’s a real asset to your hotel. The breakfast that was included was delicious and plentiful. The room was so gorgeous! The service at the bar was amazing! Thank you for having us! We’ll be back for sure!

Fabulous, just a short drive to the centre. Stayed with husband and 4 teenagers in Waratah 2 bedroom apartment . Suite big enough to all have their own space. Facilities exceptional with pool and table tennis tables, heated outdoor pool and spa, kids got in although August. Great variety with complementary continental breakfast, and daily happy hour with 2 for 1 cocktails. Clean with friendly happy staff. Will be back. Thankyou for an enjoyable stay had by all.
