R Hotel Geelong is frequently commended for its exceptional service, with many guests highlighting the staff's friendliness and helpfulness. The hotel's cleanliness and modern amenities, including washers and dryers, are appreciated by travelers, though occasional housekeeping lapses are noted. The amenities, such as ocean views and comfortable furnishings, add to the appeal, alongside the hotel's prime location near water, shops, and dining options. Despite high marks for spacious and well-appointed rooms, some visitors mention the extra charges and a need for warmer ambiance as detractors from the hotel's value.

We had a few nights here post Melbourne lockdown.
The staff were very friendly/sociable/welcoming.
Our apartment was beautifully presented and clean with lovely views of the beach.
The location is excellent as you can walk round the corner to the main shopping centre, or down to the beach. We even walked to the Geelong Gallery.
There's also a couple of good restaurants within walking distance - especially La Cachette.
The only disappointment was the breakfast which consisted of a croissant and coffee. Whilst the young lady "T" did an excellent job (toasted croissant was delicious) I think a couple of other options such as a toasted sandwich could have been offered.
The parking is also very convenient, being just a short drive around the corner to the back of the hotel.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and I'm sure we'll be back.

2 night stay in a 1 bedroom apartment - generous room size and great location in easy walking distance to foreshore, dining options and shopping. The staff were always generous in their greetings and offers of service/local knowledge.
Will visit again!

I was in Geelong for the Ironman event. The hotel had just opened so everything was fresh and new. Staff were right on top of everything and very welcoming and accomodating. The rooms are a great size and have everything laid out to make the room a really nice space to relax. Furniture was comfy and amenities in the room meant that you could be self sufficient for longer stays too. The balcony was a good size and had a great view down to the water. I would certainly book again for any future trips to Geelong.

We went to Geelong for no reason at all. It was really just to get out of the house after all the lockdowns and to have a change of scenery.
Normally we would not stay in a high quality place like the R Hotel (Ritz) but as we have been travel starved we though what the heck.
The staff were very friendly and helpfull and the establishment is brand new with everything you would expect from a place of this reputation. The room was a good size and the appointment were of a high quality. The room would benifit from a coffee table, as there is plenty of space, eventhough there is a "Hall" table under the TV the extra table would be helpful as we had nowhere to place our coffee whilst watching the news. I know thats a bit piccy, but everything was so good that all Ive got to complain ablout.
The only other thing that I would say is that the lifts are a bit confusing until you get used to them. There is a Carpark lift and a Room lif, but they actually go to the same place but are label differenty. Example Level 1 services C6, C7and C8 of the carpark. If you get in the carpark lift you would go to C6, if you get the room lift you would go to Level 1. There are plenty of signs to tell you where you need to go, and the staff are aware its a bit confusing, but once you understand the way it works......it works.
Located 500meters from the waterfront and very close to the Westfield Plaza shopping centre.
It was very nice and we would stay again.

I had a fully flexible booking for 2 rooms. At 1630 on a wed I emailed the hotel to bring forward the bkg by 24 hours as we were going to try and beat the pending melb lockdown. They said no problem but failed to mention they would now charge non refundable $1500. At 0900 on the Thursday morning I canx the bkg as COVID lockdown in Victoria was imminent . They sent me a email saying the $1500 would be put in credit for 6 months They would not refund the $1500

Hi Explore574415 As outlined in the email correspondence, our terms and conditions, and your new booking confirmation, your amended reservation was brought forward to arrive within 24 hours and therefore became non-refundable. On the flexible option, after 2pm on the Wednesday payment would have been taken for the arrival on Thursday which is outlined in our 24 hour cancellation policy. Your booking was then cancelled at 9am on the day of arrival and, in good faith, we are holding a credit for your reservation to be used at a later date once restrictions eased and travel resumes. We do hope that the restrictions are lifted sooner rather than later so that we can welcome travellers to R Hotel and the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula. Once you have selected new dates of travel, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at fom@rhotelgeelong.com.au and I will personally look after your reservation to ensure that you have an enjoyable stay with us. Take care. Kind regards Kelly Sullivan Front Office Property Manager

We stayed here for 2 nights in a 1 bedroom apartment. The apartment is a good size, bedroom had plenty of space in the wardrobe for hanging and drawers for other clothing. An openable window is always good, but unfortunately only single glazed. The bed was very comfortable & pillows were good.
A small kitchenette with a table for 4 which is pushed against the arm of the sofa. The couch was a decent size and quite comfortable. The balcony that leads off this open plan room was large with a table & 2 chairs.
The bathroom has a single vanity, but no where to put your things. The shower is a large walk in, but the water pressure is terrible.
The apartment is very clean and is a great hotel to stay in. My only gripe is the air conditioning. The unit is located in the living area and there is nothing for the bedroom. It was not hot when we stayed there, but we had to have the air conditioning on as the bedroom was very stuffy & you could not leave the window open for noise. Apart from that water pressure & air conditioning, it is a good hotel in an excellent location.

I had travelled from England and arrived before check in, tired and weary. The friendly and understanding staff did everything they could to get me into my one bedroom, park view apartment as soon as possible, given my circumstances.

I didn't have to wait long and after a coffee and bite to eat in their lovely cafe, I could could check in.
The apartment was beautiful, scrupulously clean and well appointed. The bed was huge and super comfy. Large bathroom with great shower, luxury toiletries and fluffy towels.

The kitchen included everything that you could possibly need including tea and coffee, coffee pods for the coffee machine, dishwasher tablets, dish soap, tea towel and dish cloth. Even laundry powder for the washing machine. I didn't have to buy any of these essential items as they were regularly topped up during my 8 night stay.

Large TV in the lounge area as well as one in the bedroom with on demand cable TV.

The balcony was huge with beautiful views and furnished with two chairs and a little table.

All staff that I encountered were so helpful, friendly and professional.

I will be returning regularly to Geelong and from now on, will only be staying here as it really can't be beaten on every level. The devil is in the detail and this hotel has got everything, completely spot on.

We have stayed here a few times now as our son is finishing off his uni course. Unfortunately only discovered this great place recently but highly recommend.

We were on the 7th floor on our last stay and whilst the weather was not kind and husband not feeling well we still had a lovely stay. Close to good restaurants and a shopping precinct is only a few minute's walk.

Parking is easy and can park on the floor your apartment is so quick to access, bring in bags, etc. Our room was a 1 bedroom, lovely comfy bed, well-appointed bathroom, and lovely kitchen/lounge area. The view was towards the CBD and we could have upgraded to a water view for a higher tariff.

Staff are delightful and really helpful and there is a coffee shop within the precinct if you want a coffee, quick breakie etc.

The hotel is really popular and is often booked out, alas we are heading to Geelong in a few weeks for son's graduation and can't secure a room.

Highly recommend.

R Hotel is quite new, giving it an easy advantage over competitors. We booked three rooms (2 x queen, 1 x 1br apartment - all on Level 5) and all three parties were impressed.

My room was spacious and comfortable, the bed was exquisite, lovely view from the patio and all the expected hotel room offerings at hand (albeit a bit nicer because so new, like the iron and jug).

My friend's 1br apartment only cost a fraction more and was like a luxury apartment, well worth the extra. This is where we gathered for snacks and drinks before heading out. Oh, and it has a big bathtub which was a highlight, too.

Everything was meticulously clean and the sliding door to the balcony meant an abundance of fresh sea air.

It was an easy wander down the road to the beach and just as easy to walk to the CBD for dinner/drinks.

Staff were welcoming, friendly and quick to assist - the service was excellent all round.

I only wish we'd stayed longer and I can't wait to visit again.

Good Morning Nathan Thank you for taking the time to review R Hotel Geelong. It is extremely disappointing to see that we did not meet your expectations and also that the photo you uploaded was not fully reflective of the apartment you stayed in for your first night. The apartment from the lounge-living area and balcony on the north western side has views of Bellerine Street, overlooking the park and views out toward the bay. It is great to see that the staff did attend to your concerns when you raised them with us and moved you to another apartment, on a higher level the following day. We trust you are enjoying your time with us and if we can be of any further assistance, please let the team know. All the Best R Hotel Geelong
