Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We took a family room on our road trip as an overnight stay. The room was very spacious with comfortable beds to sleep 5 people. The parking space was ample in the motel. The bathroom and toilet were clean.
Water kettle and Tea/Coffee were also made available. Special thanks to Paul for attending us well.
Overall a reasonable stay on the main road. No restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

Taking the family on a road trip from Melbourne to Adelaide along the Great Ocean Rd, Rippleside was our first stop over before the long drives ahead. The rooms are basic, on a busy road and train line but it’s clean and the beds are comfortable. Breakfast is available and the owner is really friendly

The friendly greeting was a great start and the clean, comfortable and well appointed room was a great finish. Bed linen crisp and fresh, bathroom gleamed. Tosster, microwave, hairdryer kettle. Highly recommend this property for a comfortable, convenient stay

I had an unpleasant time staying at the motel. The room I stayed in, the toilet cubicle had cobweb on the ceiling, the bed end sheet (I dont know what you call it) had some sort of blood stain on it, a pubic hair was found on one of the towels, stain marks were on one of the pillows, the mattress bases cover had lot of stains on it, the cup tray had lot of dust and sugar on it, lot of dead flies are inside the pamphlet rack and the gap under the shower door had lot of dirt and hairs came out when I put a little bit of water pressure on it. It was revolting, the worst of all each night was about $137. There were no room service, no one came and tidied the bed each morning and emptied the rubbish bin. On the top of that, the decor is definitely very outdated, it desperately needs a good fresh of paint. Very disappointed experience overall.

A great stop over spot if you are travelling on the Spirit of Tasmania ferry. Very convenient, and the owner is extremely helpful and obliging. So good that we stayed on our return from Tasmania in March 2024. Highly recommended. The rooms are VERY clean, and supply everything required for a pleasant night's rest.

I can’t say enough good things about this little motel. Paul the manager was amazing and couldn’t do enough for me and even offered to call a taxi. Kirsty the housekeeper was so friendly and we had an amazing chat about our pets. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable and had all amenities. Truly an enjoyable place to stay and very reasonable prices but I have to say the staff make this place and they are a credit to the industry. I will always stay here now when coming in and off the Spirit of Tas. Thanks Paul, Kirsty and team ❤️

Very convenient location particularly for Spirit of Tasmania travellers. Could not fault the room. Very spacious bathroom with large shower. Very well maintained. Very friendly management. Cheaper than anyone else. Very comfortable bed and excellent lighting. Highly recommended.

The motel was clean, and the rooms were big and spacious. The staff were really flexible with our late check in, and made sure it was a smooth process. Close to a main road, which made for easy arrival, but it was still quiet and couldn't hear the main road. Would stay here again.

We stayed in the family room at the Rippleside motor inn while attending a friend's wedding. My friend and I both woke up to find that we had been bitten numerous times by bed bugs. The bites are itchy and sore and we have both had to spend time and money visiting the doctor and buying various creams/lotions to help with the bites. Hopefully the bed bugs didn't get into our luggage and come back to Melbourne with us!

Even if this hotel was free, it wouldn't be worth staying there for the inconvenience and discomfort caused.

I stayed in a family room with a double bed and 2 singles with my partner and a couple of friends. The room had the basics for an overnight stay. It was close to local shops and the service was good too. The only bad thing was that the next morning I woke up with a few itchy bites. By the time I got back to sydney my back shoulder was covered in huge red itchy lumps. I went to the doctor and he said they were bed bug bites and that I had reacted really badly to them!! It's been almost a week and I can't show my back as it looks gross!!
I wouldn't go back solely because of the bed bugs which is a shame because it was pleasant while we were there.
