We stayed at te Barwon Valley Lodge for two nights. Our accommodation was a two bedroom self contained unit. There were four beds (two singles and one bunk bed) in one room and the other had a queen bed. There was bathroom which had been renovated, seperate toilet, laundry and renovated kitchen with dishwasher, stove, sink, refrigerator. Family room had TV, DVD player and Foxtel (selected channel available). The units are located on the north bank of the Barwon River. The road was a little busy during the day, but dropped off after about 6 pm or so. The units are set back some distance as well so we didn't find noise an issue at all and we were in the front unit. The kids found a playground on site which was somewhat dilapidated. The site is well located provided you have a car. It is a short distance to large shopping centre and supermarkets and across the river, back down the hill to Geelong City. There are plenty of restaraunts within a five minute drive. Well worth the suburban location. We stayed with two adults and three kids and it was great for us. Would think it was built and decorated in the late 1980's/ early 1990's but who cares. It was clean and renovated with plenty of cupboards to boot! Only drawback was one saucepan in he kitchen was a little old and had come apart, but good value or only. Recommended.

Headed to Geelong for a weekend dance comp two nights in the 2 BR Family Apartment, designed for 6 Persons. Very surprised. Obviously the rooms have had an upgrade, but it felt very warm and comfortable. Extremely clean, very very clean, which is an outstanding compliment to the cleaning staff there. Easy booking online, absolutely no drama. The manager was more than happy to put the hot tub on for the kids to go in after a swim (it was about 10 degrees). Although i wouldn't holiday in Geelong (no offense to the Geelong residents but i live in Melbourne lol), I would highly recommend Barwon Valley Lodge to out of towners who want to spend a week or more and have all the comforts of home. Quiet, comfortable, pool hot tub, tennis and more to do. More affordable than other establishments in Geelong. If i ever happen to have to stay in Geelong again you will be my first port of call. 5 stars great job to the owner, manager and team down at Barwon Valley Lodge.

I stayed in a two bedroom apartment with two other adults and two children for a night and not only was there plenty of room, I can't think of one thing that it lacked. Very quiet spot, well away from the road, parking in front of your apartment, lots of land around the apartments so they are not on top of eachother and no noise from other neighbours. The rooms have everything you need and are freshly furnished so they feel newer than they obviously are. Tennis court, pool, playground for the kids, opposite a park with running track and the river. Friendly staff and not far from town. Would definitely stay again.

Family members attending a function in Geelong recently had a 2 night stay in a newly refurbished apartment at Barwon Valley Lodge, and were extremely impressed. They have stayed there on several occasions over recent years as it has always provided amazing value for money in unmatched, peaceful garden surrounds. But their expectations were surpassed on their recent visit. All apartments on the property have now also recently been refurbished and updated, still providing all the original facilities and amenities of a fully self-contained apartment, but now with a wonderful, contemporary feel. Every attention to detail has been taken care of, right down to pillow top mattresses (our relatives said they had the best sleep in a long time!) As always, the managers of the property were very friendly and accommodating and went out of their way to assist in every possible way they could. What more can we say - don't hesitate to book one of these wonderful apartments!

We have young children and this place was perfect for us. Everything we needed for the kids, quiet, clean and really safe. The tennis court was just great and we played many games as it was right next to our room. We had a little courtyard which was closed in so our littlest spent a lot of time there watching his siblings on the tennis court.
We will stay there again as it was in a really good spot and we could just walk over the road to the river and go for a long walk. The playground was another great feature.....yes a bit run down BUT our kids are farm kids so they thought it was loads of fun.
If you have young kids and need those necessities like bath, washer, dryer and kitchen to cook then this is a great place to stay.

We go to Geelong regularly to visit family and we have always stayed at the Barwon Valley lodge. We find that with a family of four it is much easier to stay at BVL than with family, we have plenty of room and can entertain there ourselves if we want to. We usually end up with the nieces and nephews staying with us so they can use the pool, play tennis and play on the playground (they spend hours exploring!)
Overall for us this place works, it has a great location (near the Sunday market and restaurants), there is heaps of space, the rooms are clean and the staff is friendly, most importantly there is free WiFi!
Tip: Take skate boards or scooters (or heelies) because there is heaps of safe road in the complex for the kids to skate on...

Stayed at barwon valley lodge for 3 nights and was very pleased with the accommodation. We stayed in a two bedroom unit with everything we needed, very clean and comfortable. Great heating which warmed the unit in just a few minutes. Just a couple of minutes out of the main city so quiet and peaceful.

Great apartment for a family. Well appointed. I could happily live there. The pre-heated room was very welcoming on a cold afternoon! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Spacious room inside & outside facilities also abundant.
