Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We just stayed overnight to attend a procedure in Geelong.

The greeting on arrival was great & the room was neat & tidy

It may be covid-19 but the grounds are very untidy.

My partner ordered breakfast & enjoyed it so another tick

Had a very pleasant stay at Aristocrat Waurnvale motel. Room although probably a bit dated in some peoples opinion, was in excellent condition and very comfortable for a short stay. Set in a quiet rural setting its hard to believe you are so close to Geelong. Cleanliness of room was above average and price was more than reasonable. Motel is easy enough to find and parking is good. Would certainly stay again.

I needed somewhere close to the Epworth hospital in Geelong where my wife was receiving treatment. It’s an older motel but the room had everything that I needed, nice bed and nice pillows. I received breakfast delivered to my room which was really nice and the best thing, just a few minutes from the hospital and being on a quiet road made sleep easy. Many thanks.

The Motel Bates layout is at first charming.. Soon you realize you might die not under the shower but the moment your foot touches the freezing cold tiles, after the shower..The heaters don't manage too heat up the rooms. No isolation in the walls and windows. You might solace in the electric mattress heater and push away the risk of electrocution for the whole night..Too cold! No wifi and no breakfast included (however the one you could buy was good) Overpriced.

Stayed here for one night while going to the football in melb (from south west vic), have driven past many times and wondered what it was like, good clean rooms, good value and while it is on the edge of geelong it is great location from the bypass and all of geelong is there if you want it, also would be good base for surf coast . will stay again here unlike some other overpriced places in geelong

We booked this motel for one night recently and after taking the wrong turn eventually found our way back to the motel. Upon arriving we were given a room that the TV didn't work so were given an upgrade which was very comfortable indeed. The room and ensuite were spacious and the motel itself is on a very quiet road so if you want a peaceful sleep this is the motel for you.
The owner was very friendly and could have not been more helpful.
I would recommend this motel to anybody visiting the Surf Coast region.

lovely little place, nice owners; good service, comfortable rooms, good price, quiet locality but very close to main town Waurn Ponds and Dieken university. Cosy and nice, we were there only for two nights and sorry that we could not explore more

Lovely people running the motel, very helpful. The room was very clean and well prepared. It was also comfortable and we had a quiet nights sleep. The room would benefit from Wi-Fi but as we only there one night it wasn't a problem. Recommended.

We needed a room to stay just for the night, and that was what we got. Our guess is that this motel was built in the 70/80s and has not been updated since. With three beds in the room there was very little space to move around. Brick walls, stained carpets and a plastic green shower cubicle. No aircon, no wifi. But we could make a cup of tea and there was a microwave. Bed was ok, but pillows were of the synthetic variety.
Outside our door was a sand box filled with cigarettes stubs, not the sight you want to wake up to.
We wandered around the back of the property in the morning and found the swimming pool and the BBQ area. In dire need of an overhaul as well, as most of the furniture was rusted and there was rubbish, broken wheel barrows and other stuff lying around.
The motel used to be located on a busy road from Melbourne to the Great Ocean Road, but since the opening of the M1, very little traffic comes by these days.

Interaction with staff was very limited, about 5 minutes to pay the bill. But I have to say, somebody there can clean well, because our room was spotless.
