Myself, My fiancee and 3 young Children rang the Motel and were going to book online. The Chinese Owner told us not to book online and he would offer the same price, just had to give him our credit card details. We got to The Motel at 9.15pm to be told we were going to be charged and extra $50 and he would not allow us to log on wotif because he didnt want to pay ineternet usage. When we politely disputed it the Owner started to get aggressive and his Wife and Daughter had to hold him back.
We had no choice but to stay elsewhere and luckily we got a room considering we had ourselves a 5 year old and 2 babies.
We SHOULD of called the POLICE.. Now 2 days later we realised this violent, abbusive man has charged our credit card for a full night stay. ABSOLUTE SCAMMERS.
DO NOT STAY HERE, PLAESE HE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!!!!

We too could not find anywhere else to stay in Geelong, but you would be better off sleeping in your car. This motel (if you can call it that) is absolutely disgusting. It was filthy dirty and it smelt foul. We had the 'family room', which was smaller than my bedroom at home and have 5 beds in it and everything was full of dust.
It seemed to me that all the other rooms in the motel were booked out by the hour to 'ladies of the night' !! There were cars coming and going whilst we were there. Lucky we knew a couple of people that put us up for the two night. And to top it of the Manager/Owner was so rude. He wanted to know why we were leaving and we told him, he asked us to leave the keys in the 'night return box', it was full of rubbish. He refused to give us a refund and did not care that we were completely unhappy.

DO NOT EVER STAY HERE !!

We could not find anywhere else to stay in Geelong and unwittingly booked this dump. This hotel should be condemned. How can this place pass as a hotel? I think it doubles as a half-way house. The room smelt like a mixture of urine, cigarette smoke, body odour and alcohol. Empty beer bottles littered under the beds. Grubby and unclean from top to bottom. I slept on top of the bed fully clothed as I did not trust to touch those sheets, I can only imagine what a blue fluorescent light would discover. I was also kept up most of the night from the noise of a nearby resident with a hacking emphysema cough. Absolute disgrace of a place.

I travel a considerable amount and had to my disgust book at this hotel due to Geelong been very busy on the Saturday. I called in the morning to confirm my booking and check in time and was immediately met with what was some of the poorest customer service I've encountered, questioning how I booked and quite forceful that if any extra people stay ill be charged. Putting that aside my brother arrived earlier than myself as he had to get ready for a wedding he was best man in, as soon as he walked in to reception he was confronted by an angry man demanding cards and questioning who we were, I soon arrived thinking my brother was been over the top, but I soon met with the same attitude where we both felt like criminals, even to the point he was yelling at us and waiving a ruler at my brothers face. I asked for a refund which was refused and we left, been forced to sleep on couches in a shed after our friends wedding because we felt safer there than at colonial inn!!! Beware do not stay here, and I'm surprised this guy is allowed to operate a business... Potentially through double booking rooms and scaring people away!

Terrible hotel. The owner is creepy and perverse. I was asked to give all my personal details and when I questioned the owner about that, he held my hand saying that I shouldn't worry. I am a female and told him to not touch me. He said that I should trust him and that the hotel is safe. Anyway, the bed had bed bugs crawling all over the mattress.lucky I saw the bed bugs, but I had to drive back home that night because all the other hotels were booked or closed ( it was midnight). The owner didn't want to refund me but luckily the booking website did. Advice: DO NOT STAY THERE!!!!!!

Do not stay here! You will be more comfortable under a tree or in the boot of a parked car. The Colonial Lodge is NOT a motel, it is a flea-pit. The owner is exceptionally rude. The rooms are fitted with ancient, broken furniture that has been repaired with electrical tape. The staff will invade your privacy. Nothing functions as it should. Too scared to peel the sheets apart, I wrapped myself in layers of my own clothes, spread open a large, clean cardboard box, and slept on top of the bed. How joints like this can continue to scam travellers is beyond me.

I was embarrassed for booking such a lousy place for my overseas friends. There was not a soul in sight when we arrived at 12noon on a Friday. A man cleaning the rooms turned out to be host. As I booked and paid through check-in.com, I only needed to get the keys and fill a guest card. It was the first motel that required me to fill every single detail, including my drivers license no, credit card no and home address, in full! The door knob didn't work, and we got trapped in the room for 15 minutes everytime we wanted to go out. The toilet was small with a cracked floor in the shower. The beds were ok, only I was scratching all over when I slept. We also only had 1 small portable heater which didn;t do much to heat the room. I would love to give you something positive, but I can't think of any. Good Luck if you have already booked the room. (i should've taken photos, Damn!)

I had booked a room through Wotif but as I had lost my internet connection and was not able to log back on to my Wotif after trying to some time I thought I had better call the Motel to confirm that my booking went through correctly, as I didn't want to arrive at 5pm and not have a booking with 3 kids in tow!
The man on the phone was very rude and kept repeating the same thing 'you need to check online if you book online'. I explained that I was very aware of the process but I just wanted to make sure my booking went through (for reasons mentioned above). After repeating himself over and over and being quite rude he eventually said 'yes' there was a booking under the name I gave him. Great. Arrived 2 hours later.
Said Hello and that I was the lady on the phone that was checking on my booking! With a big smile and relief of having arrived after a bit of a drive. He proceeded to again go on about me calling to find out my details, spoke over the top of me and was the rudest person I have EVER come across!!!!!! And I have worked on customer service for 14 years, have met many rude people in that time. After being spoken over the top of and pretty much abused I started crying and stormed out explaining he was the rudest person I have ever dealt with and there was no way I was not going to stay there!!!! I'm a grown woman and he made me cry! I Left, called Wotif to inform them. Put in a complaint and went to find another hotel. Unfortunately for me the rude so and so still got my $130!!!! As my details had already been sent through from Wotif. Wotif were very very sorry and very understanding. Gave me a $50 credit on their site to apologise for my experience. I wish that I had have read reviews before I booked!!!!!!!!!!
Please don't waster your money or your time supporting someone so horrible!!!!!!!!!

I booked and paid for 4 nights on line, big mistake in not checking TripAdvisor first.
This would have to be the worst motel I've seen in Australia. This establishment needs to be demolished and rebuilt. Carpets and furniture were about 30 years old, bed was very lumpy, as I was sitting on the edge of the bed I felt things creeping up my legs. I felt very uncomfortable with management, not friendly. This place was so bad that I couldn't sleep there, so I slept in the car.

My partner and I stayed here last night. The owner was very welcoming and the room was clean and warm, close to everything. Would stay here again. Not sure why others expect a palace for budget accommodation...
