Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Highly recommend this accommodation, exceptionally clean, comfortable and modern within close proximity to the CBD. Exceeded our expectations in every regard, particularly with use of environmentally-friendly products.

We wanted somewhere central and comfortable to stay for a couple of nights, but not a motel or a house. This was the most appealing, looking at the web site. We found it to be very comfortable and cosy. Everything was very clean, the kitchen was nice and modern and stocked with some nice teas. King bed was really comfortable, with interesting marine artefacts above and the heating was great. However, the shower was just warm enough and the water from the bathroom tap took ages to heat up. The bathroom was nice and large which was good as usually we find them rather small. An extra ledge to put things in there would be useful. There was some noise from trucks overnight, but it is opposite a hospital. The bathroom door is rather unusual - large, heavy and we were curious as to why as we'd never seen one like this before. We were able to walk to dinner at a nearby hotel bistro. We enjoyed our breakfast out on the porch in the lovely courtyard. We really enjoyed our stay.

I stayed at Anchor while attending a conference at Deakin University. It was clean, well-equipped, and easy to find, as I walked from the Gull terminal on the main road (about 15min walk). The room had a comfy bed and good heating, which was necessary as it was very cold in Geelong! The kitchen has adequate facilities so I was able to prepare food for myself during my stay. I did not notice any traffic noise. The shower could have been a little warmer, but the heated lights were appreciated. There are not a lot of facilities in close proximity; however, the petrol station down the road has a fairly decent selection of (expensive) foods. It is about 15/20min walk to the big shopping centre. Communition was fine and I had no trouble accessing the room on arrival. I found the note in the kitchen about taking our own rubbish out a little odd! I would stay again.

Great little place, only about 8 rooms in which I assume is an old motel. Beautifully decorated rooms, spotlessly clean and very easy people to deal with. Great location right opposite the hospital about 10-15 mins walk from the waterfront and same time to shops. Was worried it might be a little noisy due to location but we had no problems even in a "hospital facing" room. 2-bedroom studio had plenty of space for 2 adults and a teen - free wifi very helpful too :)

I don't know what it was before, a butcher or a morgue? The magnificently sized bathroom behind the industrial sliding door occupies about 1/4 of the apartment without anything special other than bathroom space. The kitchen facilities are very minimal and consist of a small microwave and small induction hot plat, hidden in a cupboard and minimal pots/pans available. The chairs are uncomfortable and not well positioned with a small dining table. The TV is dangerously located and there is no reception. However, there are many strangely placed power outlets which makes me think this is a repurposed industrial building. It is very clean and has off street parking. This is neither a hotel/motel or serviced apartments and maybe best described as an uber-hotel that doesn't really work. It is not that close to other amenities other than the back of Geelong Hospital and its mortuary.

From the front it has an almost B&B ambiance with its neat wooden fence and small well maintained garden. Our room (5) was a spacious, comfortable king studio tastefully decorated with a seaside feel. Huge bathroom, but you could only just get the water hot enough for a shower. Decent kitchen, full-sized fridge, a double electric hotplate hidden in a bottom drawer and all the necessary plates, pots and cutlery. Good selection of tea, instant coffee not so great. Super comfy bed and plenty of space with a little coffee table sitting area. Easy walk to the waterfront. Yes, there is some traffic noise which wasn't a problem for us. And anyway, what can you expect if you want to stay close to one of the main thoroughfares in a major regional city. We'd stay there again.

The room had everything you need and location was fantastic, it was neat, tidy & had alot of small touches inc a 2 burner electric stove which was fantastic to cook with & Frypans, loved the kitchenette and bathroom, there is no table and chairs in this room which is fine if you like to eat on your lap, and the only complaint we had was the TV, it was a Kogan and took awhile to look for channels and use the volume it was very slow and not very sharp,
