Detailed Reviews
Great little place, only about 8 rooms in which I assume is an old motel. Beautifully decorated rooms, spotlessly clean and very easy people to deal with. Great location right opposite the hospital about 10-15 mins walk from the waterfront and same time to shops. Was worried it might be a little noisy due to location but we had no problems even in a "hospital facing" room. 2-bedroom studio had plenty of space for 2 adults and a teen - free wifi very helpful too :)

I booked into the Anchor for a couple of nights to catch up with friends. I did no real research and had no real expectations other than it was a very reasonably priced accommodation.
What a wonderful surprise, I was charmed from the moment I arrived.
My room was clean, fresh and quite lovely. Large and airy with a cute private courtyard, large well appointed bathroom with rainwater shower, great little kitchen area with everything you need for a short stay including high quality tea (which being English is very important to me).
The room was very tastefully furnished with a king sized bed, two adorable bedside tables, small writing desk, sofa and a bench with stools facing the window.
From entering the room (using the very secure and convenient keypad) I felt relaxed, comfortable and secure. I only wish I had been able to stay longer.
I will definitely rebook next time I visit Geelong and would recommend to all of my friends.
Service from Holly was great too.
Thank you Anchor Geelong for a lovely mini break.

We wanted somewhere central and comfortable to stay for a couple of nights, but not a motel or a house. This was the most appealing, looking at the web site. We found it to be very comfortable and cosy. Everything was very clean, the kitchen was nice and modern and stocked with some nice teas. King bed was really comfortable, with interesting marine artefacts above and the heating was great. However, the shower was just warm enough and the water from the bathroom tap took ages to heat up. The bathroom was nice and large which was good as usually we find them rather small. An extra ledge to put things in there would be useful. There was some noise from trucks overnight, but it is opposite a hospital. The bathroom door is rather unusual - large, heavy and we were curious as to why as we'd never seen one like this before. We were able to walk to dinner at a nearby hotel bistro. We enjoyed our breakfast out on the porch in the lovely courtyard. We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in the Ocean Grove Double Studio, it was quite spacious with two double beds and a well equipped kitchenette. The bathroom was a decent size with a great shower. We loved the way the rooms have been renovated and decorated, it felt very welcoming. The small courtyard was also nice to sit in. Whilst the room was comfortable, it would have been nice to have a couch, we also found the stools at the table very uncomfortable and awkward to sit on. Our only complaint about our stay here was the fact that there are no staff/security on site, one night we were woken to a loud bunch of young people outside our room, swearing and carrying on. The next morning we discovered the remnants of their party in the car park. I'm not sure if they were guests or just some local kids who'd decided to make the car park their base for an hour or so but it was quite disturbing. In saying all this, I have recommended Anchor Geelong to other family and friends looking for accommodation in the area.

Lovely comfortable, clean room. Very attractively decorated, it feels nice and homey, quite different to a hotel or motel. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom large with a luxurious feel not often found. The kitchenette was equipped with a microwave and fridge but no oven or stove.

My parents and I were impressed with the location and cleanliness of the apartment. A suggestion to make the stay even better would be for the owners to install a block out blind/curtain in the second bedroom as light from an outside light shone into the room all night. The plantation style louvre blind was difficult to open and close and let in a lot of light. So much so that my mother got up at 5 in the morning thinking it must have been daylight.

I stayed at Anchor while attending a conference at Deakin University. It was clean, well-equipped, and easy to find, as I walked from the Gull terminal on the main road (about 15min walk). The room had a comfy bed and good heating, which was necessary as it was very cold in Geelong! The kitchen has adequate facilities so I was able to prepare food for myself during my stay. I did not notice any traffic noise. The shower could have been a little warmer, but the heated lights were appreciated. There are not a lot of facilities in close proximity; however, the petrol station down the road has a fairly decent selection of (expensive) foods. It is about 15/20min walk to the big shopping centre. Communition was fine and I had no trouble accessing the room on arrival. I found the note in the kitchen about taking our own rubbish out a little odd! I would stay again.

There are about 8 apartments at this place and we were in number 5. There is off street parking and the apartment was reasonably well appointed. It is nicely styled with a relaxed ambiance. Great bed, good bathroom, lounge seating options OK if you’re not wanting to sit too long (not very comfortable)
The apartments are right across the road from the hospital so if you need to be close it is very well located. It is also an easy walk into the CBD or the waterfront.
If we were to stay there again we would not stay in number 5. Most of the others do not have any windows facing the road, but into an open courtyard. There is a lot of noise at night from trucks reversing, loading and unloading at the hospital loading dock across the road, seemed to start at about 3:30am and continued for 2 or 3 hours at least.
....and then there’s the helipad. Not complaining about that as it is there for a very good reason but when a chopper landed there at about 7ish it sounded like it was coming down right on our roof.
Overall pretty good for the price.

Found this place last minute and kind of by accident (went to book somewhere else but this popped up just under it and caught my eye) and the photos had me booking there and then.
We really just wanted a bed for the night after a long drive from SA, but we could have easily stayed at Anchor forever! The studio was amazing beautiful and comfortable, loved everything about it. Sparkling clean and modern, and my favourite, Hampton's style tones. Spacious bathroom, kitchenette with good appliances, super comfy king bed and an allocated off-street parking space. Contactless check in and check out (using a door code) was super easy and convenient, and service communicating the details for this was good.
A few small things: although the shower was lovely, the water was lukewarm at best, and as our room faced the street (we had room 5, would love to go back and try the non-street facing rooms at some stage), we heard quite a bit of noise on the street, at the hospital across the road and a lot of noise from beeping trucks.
Would definitely stay again and am excited to return!

We stayed at Anchor Geelong for a one night stay in Jan 2020. It was clean, modern and the location was perfect for us. Super easy to check in and check out. The room had everything we needed and it was so great to have our own parking space just outside the door. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Thank you anchor!

Yes there is air conditioning in the 2 bedroom apartment.
We stayed in the 1 bedroom unit and there was full cooking facilities, there are also plenty of good restaurants nearby.
