Detailed Reviews
We were a family travelling with 3 adults and 2 children. When we arrived we had been given 2 rooms (1 pet friendly) with 1 queen bed in each room. Even though we had booked for 5 people for 3 nights, when questioned the staff said, we should have booked 2 twin rooms, we explained that we had advised that there were 3 adults and 2 school aged children but were not offered a change just told the hotel is booked out. So luckily we had brought swags and the children slept in those. Despite all this the hotel is lovely and clean and is quite well situated for a stay in Echuca.

This place was not our choice. It was the choice of others in our travel group. But turned out a fine choice. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. Shower was clean but the handbasin was outside the bathroom in the little kitchenette area, The curtains on the large window could probably do with replacement as could the 70s louvre doors in the kitchette. The toaster and kettle looked brand new. The Bushells coffee satchels give Maxwell House coffee a run for their money in horribleness. There was hand sanitiser bottles located outside each room. Currently there are only glasses, cups and teaspoons in the room. Plates, bowls and other cutlery need to be requested. It is stated that reception is open from 9am to 9 pm but was closed when I went there at 8 pm one night.

We booked an overnight stay here, (1st June, 2022) Spoke over the phone to book, asked for a top floor room, asked what time was check in. Told 1pm. We arrived after 1pm only to be told check in was at 2, had one top floor room available so we took it. Mmmm Mistake, Room 35 was at the very end and the closest room to the main road. Oh Boy the road traffic was loud. It did not help that the small tray outlet had a huge opening on the side and allowed the noise come through even more. The room itself could not fault all that was in there. Bed was very comfortable. Upon closer look the dust on the bed head was thick. Need new bedside lamps. Way past their use by date. The heater worked really well. (Thank god) as it was a cold night. Our neighbour unfortunately spoke on his phone on the balcony and was very loud. Over an hour the first time, 2nd time we turned up the telly. (No fault of the hotel). Time for the room to get a face lift.

We, a group of 4 middle aged ladies, booked into this hotel after finding it on the internet. It seemed to have exactly what we wanted, a family room with 4 individual beds together with a large area with table and chairs plus a sofa. What we got was a disaster!
The family room was actually two small rooms, one with a double bed and the other containing a single and a set of bunks. We went back to the reception and were told that none of their family rooms actually looks like what was on their website.
Deciding that as we were only staying one night we would make the most of a bad choice and as 3 of the 4 ladies were physically impaired for climbing onto a bunk it made it challenging. We turned on the heater to find it didn't work and that there was only 1 additional blanket to cover all the 4 beds so extra warmth was not an option. The management couldn't get the heater to work so had to go out and buy portable heaters and extra blankets for us.
The double bed had an electric blanket that was missing one control. It had been placed on the bed the wrong way around so we had to strip and remake the bed so we could actually use it as the plug wouldn't even reach the power point.
The description on the internet included an in room safe, dressing gowns and slippers, CD/DVD player and a stocked mini bar. None was there and what we got was wires hanging down from behind the TV, some of the room lights not working, and one SMALL milk pack in the fridge for the 4 of us. One of the trimmings had come away from the wall and the nails were sticking up and there was mould around the shower base.
We decided to stay because to find a room of the sort we wanted would have been impossible as most places were fully booked. We went out for dinner and had to ask for the exterior lights to be turned on so we didn't trip down the step in the dark.
On going to bed later, the lady who was sleeping on the bottom of the bunk found that the slats to keep the mattress in place were at each end of the bed and when she went to lay down the mattress was almost touching the floor. Not comfortable at all.
In the morning we moved the curtain to one side to see the outside and the curtain rail fell down. That was the rooms final parting gesture to us.
If you want a great place to stay in Echuca look elsewhere. This place is a disaster!

The best thing about this motel was the online pictures. Our room was stuck in the 70’s, dark brick Devore that made the room feel quite small and dingy. The shower water pressure was poor at best and the hot water tap leaked badly. The old style wall mount AC unit didn’t regulate so we had to shut it off at night. The TV needs an upgrade so that it will show HD channels. The curtains were worn and ripped.
The rooms were not serviced daily and the bins outside weren’t emptied. Would recommend looking elsewhere.

Had a few minor issues with the room which were addressed with Management via a review on another website. Can I say if you do stay here, which I would recommend as it’s location to the CBD is brilliant, and if you do have any issues whatsoever please don’t hesitate to stick your head into reception. Don’t be like me and fire away on the keyboard via a review, walk across the carpark and speak to the staff. All of the staff and management are so open to immediately attending to any issues you may have. The pool is excellent and usage is on a roster system which gives you the entire pool to yourself and or your family in hour blocks. Again, Management and staff at this motel have been so accomodating and extremely prompt with ensuring that our stay was comfortable and relaxing. Would stay here again in the future. Do yourself a favour and book a stay here.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at the Echuca’s The Settlement Historic Hotel over the Easter weekend. It was a very comfortable stay. Our room on the upper floor had all the facilities with a mini fridge, microwave, toaster, tea and coffee making facilities etc. The hotel also has a small but well maintained pool. The hotel is also very conveniently located with all the town’s main attractions being a short walk away.
Most importantly we found the service very good. Hannah ( I think was her name ) was indeed very helpful and obliging.
Thanks.

We had a confirmed pre-paid reservation for a family room and upon arriving to check in they had given away our room.
They were fully booked so had to stay elsewhere 😡.
I do not know how a place can accept your booking and take pre-payment then give away your room.

My family and I stayed here, as it was close to the hospital and we needed to be by my pops side as he was dying. My mum goes in and pays for the room and the guy behind the counter was stoned off his face!!The first night it was loud, the room next door were fighting, banging stuff around until 1:30 in the morning also a guy who apparently lives in one of the rooms had his music up full ball to find out he is a junkie and mates with the people who run the motel. My mother went to another motel the next day as she had no sleep and wanted out of the motel. We had already paid for the second night so my son and I stayed again. We came back to the room and it was like pulling into an outdoor nightclub. There were people everywhere music playing. The people who run the motel were outside drinking with their mates, swearing and carrying on. It was an absolute disgrace and felt like I was sitting back watching real life housos episodes. I do not recommend this motel at all and I do not recommend children staying there!! We couldn't even get a good night's sleep as we were worried something might happen. There were 2 families who left that day because of what went on there!!

To Kaycee & Respected Family. I wanted to take the time to personally reply to your feedback. We take reviews seriously and our guests comfort is of upmost prioriy. It saddens me to read what you & your family had to endure staying here at the settlement. Since your review the management and team at The Settlement have been replaced with a new and professional management team. Again I've like to extend our apologies and wish you and your family well.

Exposed brown brick walls, little natural light and a curtain rod which had come away from its fixture leaving the curtain hanging loose at one end gave our room a distinctly downmarket atmosphere. Surfaces were sticky which to be fair was probably a residue left from a cleansing agent. The sink, rather than being in the bathroom was just off the sleeping area which admittedly is a minor quibble. Road noise was audible and so was the sound of a guest's truck revving up in the morning. The bed was comfortable and the shower was up to scratch. Good location.
