Barclay On View offers a stay that many find comfortable and clean, with well-stocked minibars and fine linen, although some aspects of the rooms may feel a bit dated and exposed to external noise. The central location is widely celebrated for its easy access to local attractions, despite the occasional disturbance from traffic. While guests generally commend the efficient service and spotless amenities, experiences with room upkeep and overall value tend to vary. The hotel's amenities, including the comfortable beds, are typically satisfactory, though not without a few dated quirks.

As a UK visitor with return flight cancelled due to C19 restrictions I was stuck in Bendigo indefinitely. I needed flexiible long term accommodation through March/April at short notice. Hosts, Sarah and Dean were exceptional in offering this. I spent a few nights in the motel but most time was spent in their house in Queen's Square..
The motel rooms are a good size, well equipped with comfy beds. There are extra facilities for guests including a laundry, barbecue area, gym and spa. There are no cooking facilities in the rooms but a microwave and extra utensils can be supplied on request. Upstairs rooms have a balcony with a sitting area for each room. Parking spaces are allocated by room number. The location of the motel is perfect, on a historical tree lined street in the centre of town. Everything you need is easily within walking distance.
The townhouse in Shamrock St is superb for a short or long stay. It's modern luxury with a very spacious L shaped open plan ground floor with separate bathroom and laundry. Patio doors lead out to a covered seating area with a barbecue and neat garden. Every possible facility is provided in the house including Netflix. Upstairs the beds are super comfy with quality bedding and the bathroom is large with a separate bath and shower. It became my home from home. I would happily have stayed longer.
Sarah and Dean are fantastic hosts, extremely friendly and helpful. They helped me through a difficult situation. For best rates contact them direct.

The booking was done directly by phone and I appreciated the friendly response to my questions and the best price being offered. My request for a downstairs room was confirmed and on booking in, we received a warm welcome. After check-out, a mix-up with the payment was acknowledged and corrected immediately with apologies. The room was small but clean and it had everything we needed. Being from regional Victoria ourselves, the warm welcome was recognized as a natural one which was appreciated and made us feel very much at home. We felt very much 'looked after' and would certainly stay at the Barclay on View again. Location really suited us.My suggestion for a more comfortable night would be to have a lockable sliding window so that the window could be left slightly open, but securely locked in place.
Thank you.
Gloria Auchterlonie,
Morwell.

Thanks for the kind words Gloria. We always love hearing from our happy guests. It reminds us that we must be doing something right. It's great to know that received a warm welcome and that you felt "looked after". This is exactly how we intend for our guests to feel. Great idea about the window, your suggestion will be passed onto the bosses. Hope to see you again the next time you return to Bendigo.

This is our go to accommodation in Bendigo. We love the location right in the heart of the city. It's quiet and affordable. The rooms are always clean and comfortable and you only need a code to enter your room - no need to worry about keys which we find very convenient. The owners are very friendly too - any requests we've had have been no trouble at all. Hope to stay here again soon.

The communication from start to finish was excellent.
We were very kindly allowed to leave our car in our car parking spot before the allowed check in time & go & explore the town.

The room was clean, neat & today. Great shower, comfortable bed & had everything that you required. We had booked breakfast for a small extra fee & we received our toast, cereals & juices the night before.

Again we were allowed to leave our car for an hour after checkout whilst we walked to visit the cathedral.

Great location, great staff & great motel - thanks!

Easy non contactless check in. Room was very clean and comfortable. Disinfectant wipes provided to wipe down any additional surfaces. Great location close to everything. Quiet location. Good heating and electric blankets too. Didn’t order the in room breakfast but the menu looked great.

Just completed our two night stay in an upstairs room, room was spacious and clean and quiet we were super impressed with the friendliness of the young couple Sarah and her husband who run the motel and met their gorgeous daughter Ella. Gluten free breakfast is catered for, this is a rarity in a lot of motels we have stayed in and not having this option makes life hard when you are Coeliac. We had breakfast in the dining room which overlooks View St and watched the world go by. We were close to large number of restaurants for lunch and dinner options. We will definitely stay again when visiting Bendigo.

Hi Sharon, Thank you so much for your very kind review, we loved having you stay with us. We've worked very hard to make sure almost all of our meals can be Gluten Free (using the delicious New Freedom Bakery Gluten Free bread). And our Breakfast Dining Room is beautiful and sunny in the morning. Glad you enjoyed it! Hope we see you guys again really soon! Ella loved all the attention! :)

This is not what you expect for $300.00+ per night, and not in a good way.

The room is small, dark, and the fittings tired, the bedside tables were covered in something sticky and we had to clean them, among other things. A single bed takes up any room you may have had for your bags. All there is to “relax” in and watch some TV are three hard chairs next to a small table, other than that you have to lie on the bed. The bed at least was comfortable.
The shower head had only two spots it would stay in, straight down from on high, or slightly leaning into the wall down low. The soap container in the shower was empty and the shower base leaked around the base across the bathroom floor. The fittings in the bathroom were at the extreme budget end, the grout around the basin was peeling off, there is no bathroom heating and the shower temperature changes erratically on its own.
On the Saturday night a pub down the hill decided to regale us with a driving Doof Doof drum beat until at least 02:00, at 00:30 we got up and put in ear plugs but could still hear it.

The location is good as it’s close to lots of attractions and restaurants, however we would never stay here again.
This was in my opinion a 2.5 to 3 star only room and in no way a $300.00+/night room

Barclay on View put together a package for travellers to visit the Mary Quant exhibit at the art gallery across the road and it included tickets to the exhibit, a bottle of bubbly and breakfast as well as a very comfortable stay in a warm room. Free parking onsite and wifi are included. Check in and out are contactless with an SMS sent with a code for the room included. The room was clean and the hot water in the shower was a good pressure.

We booked Barclay on View because it was close to the Bendigo Art Gallery where the Elvis Exhibition (a beaut display) was being held. It was a great location for that and not too big a walk to places for dinner (two of the three we tried were booked out) or the centre of the city for breakfast. The room was roomy, clean and the three beds had electric blankets! Car parks were numbered according to the room so there was no competition for a car space which was helpful. The room also had a small table and three chairs and was just big enough for three people to eat a meal at, another bonus. Top floor rooms had a balcony and people were allowed to smoke outside which for us was unpleasant as cigarette smoke has a habit of intruding even through closed doors. Fortunately that was only a problem for a short time as the smoker moved off. Check in was a breeze and contactless. They
