Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We arrived in Bendigo by train and walked to the motel which was a 15minute walk and the location was great. Staff were friendly and let us check in early and asked us which milk we want and told us about the lookout tower step counting challenge. The room was great and the only downside was the absence of a shower curtain and there were no overhead lights. There were more than enough towels and soap a toothbrush and toothpaste as well as Shampoo and other toiletries were all provided. The table was small but had cutlery a toaster, kettle, microwave, tea coffe and a fridge. They also have breakfast starting from $8 but we decided not to opt. If they had a stove you could probably stay there for a week but without one it’s perfect for a overnight stay or 2 night stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at the oval hotel. We had our 3 yr old daughter who loved her stay and the instant access to kids TV. The room was so clean when we entered it that you could literally eat off the floor. It had a welcoming homey feel as we walked in. The Beds were perfectly made and very comfortable. The bathroom and toilet area was extremely clean and tidy. My partner and I would definitely highly recommend staying here, we back again. We loved it. Thank you to Gary and Carolyn for your lovely warm welcome and hospitality. You gave us the feeling of being at home. We will definitely see you again on our next adventure to Bendigo. Alan and Kelly Holley. And little miss Aria. ❤️

Definitely not as expected. Paid $169 per night for 4 nights, not peak or Friday, Saturday. Room furniture consisted of queen bed with fixed side tables, couch, dining table, 2 chairs in about a 20 square meter space. I have disabilities, immunocompromised and respiratory issues. I was unable to use my portable suction shower grab rail in shower (no smooth surface) so unable to shower independently. Only sink in room was cracked (cracks hide microorganisms as they can't be cleaned adequately). Chairs had tears in the fabric displaying the insides which was wire and foam. (Fabric and foam cannot be cleaned thoroughly unless washed at high temperatures) Felt very uncomfortable knowing the fabric surfaces and the sink were not clean. As no where else to put it, the luggage went on couch which was covered in a couch cover so it matched the decor, but it was not clean. The 2 torn dining chairs left to utilise I covered in towels. When people smoked outside, the smell came into the room despite windows and door closed. When it rained the water poured off the roof onto the ground making it slippery outside the room.

We were looking for a last minute reasonably priced hotel and when we arrived it looked okay for a vintage motel from the outside. However, when we got inside we were in for a treat. The room came with essentials usually reserved for a hoity toity ritzy hotel and it came with a breakfast you could have in your room and an option to get a cooked breakfast. It was quiet as well.

When you book a 3 star motel, you are hopeful rather than expecting too much. The oval exceeded expectations in every way. From the welcoming phone call and choice of milk, to the comfortable bed and the delicious hot Neal, to the central location on Bendigo and the large tv. Definitely recommended

The room was warm and welcoming. We stayed in a family room and there was plenty of room for a family of three (parent and two grown children). The room had everything we needed. Kettle, microwave, table and chairs (and yummy shortbreads) and fresh milk. Wifi easy to access. The beds are so comfy and the towels big and fluffy. Our corner parking spot was a bit tricky at first but i am not complaining as it was right outside our room which made unpacking and packing up so easy. The bathroom was fully equipped with hair dryer, face washers, shower cap, etc.

Arrived to an extremely warm reception. Complimentary beverage x2. Room was warm with pre-heating and complimentary real milk in a glass jar. Room is clean and cozy with all the facilities you would want. Extremely comfortable bed. I never write reviews but the Oval Motel deserves it! Definitely recommend!

Delightfully authentic mid century motel. Breakfast was placed in the hatch in our room just like the old days. The owner so gets customer service and we felt very welcome. Well located for theatre, gallery and restaurants. Not for those who want 6 star luxury and a Butler!

We had a wonderful overnight stay at Oval Motel Bendigo. A beautifully renovated original sixties motel impeccably maintained by the lovely hosts. The rooms are well appointed and there is a wide range of drinks and snacks available directly to your room. The breakfast was very reasonably priced and delivered to the hatch in your room. Just like the golden days of motel accommodation I remember as a kid. Highly recommended!
