Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We were in Bendigo for a week long basketball tournament and ideally after accommodation near the Red Energy Arena, which was a short drive away. The National Hotel Complex is also walking distance to the Gold mine, the Talking tram tour, the Beechworth bakery and Woolworths to name a few. It is a leisurely 20-30 min walk to the Cathedral, the Alexandria Fountain, the Visitor centre and the city centre in general.
We were pleasantly surprised with our 2 bedroom apartment and nearby bistro. The apartment had everything to make our stay enjoyable, including a washing machine/dryer, dishwasher, fridge, oven, heating, electric blankets and even Foxtel. The staff were rather helpful (in our case the washing machine started leaking!) and there is secure, free parking.
The meals at the adjoining bistro were well priced, tasty and with something on the menu to suit everyone. It is a popular eatery so you need to book ahead for dinner. Nevertheless, if you're staying in the complex, you can take advantage of ‘room service’ and have your meals delivered to the apartment. We found this very handy, especially after spending a whole day at the stadium. When booking, request an apartment away from the road, as the traffic does get noisy at night, however to my surprise, there was no obvious noise coming from the bistro.
If you're after convenient, well priced and decent accommodation in the centre of Bendigo, then the National Hotel Complex should be at the top of your list!

We needed to stay in Bendigo as our father was
ill at St John if God hosp
There were 4 couples/ families requiring accommodation for an unlimited time

We were greeted with kindness and support
the amenities were great. Comfortable beds, great showers and good food .. all in the midst of COVID
Many thanks to Karen at reception who managed our unusual circumstances ( a dying parent ) and just reassured us not to worry about a thing.
Thanks so much for your care at this stressful time ... we were so grateful xxxx

Best hotel. Have been staring there every week for work. Tried a couple of other places in Bendigo but couldn’t go past the National. Karen and Ron are amazing - the place is always spotless and they greet you like you are coming home. Just love the food next door - or to your room - absolutely delicious!! Thanks Karen and Ron

Great place to stay with clean and comfortable rooms.
On our arrival were warmly welcomed by Michael.
As we a group of oldies (all 80+) meeting in Bendigo for a reunion, he went out of his way to have one of staff Darcy find a quiet place in the the hotel's Bistro & Function centre for our Reunion Lunch. The menu is extensive and reasonable priced with all commenting positively on the presentation , tastiness and quality of their chosen dishes. By consensus we chose to have two evening meals as well as our Reunion Lunch. Congratulations to the young team of serving staff for your professional attention which was given along with plenty of smiles.
Make this hotel your first choice if booking accommodation in Bendigo.

Although we didn’t have a booking the obliging staff fitted our group of 8 in for a meal. Very extensive reasonably priced menu. Although the Hotel was extremely busy the 4 barmen kept up and with a well organised kitchen we got all our meals promptly.

Stayed at the hotel on recommendation and were not disappointed. Motel units were very quiet and clean. Bistro was busy for a Sunday night but service was friendly and meals came out promptly .
Would stay again but will try apartment next time, just to compare. Site handy to cbd.

Great three bedroom apartment with excellent facilities. Double garage available for two cars. Noisy neighbours but they didn’t disturb us sleeping. Good food storing facilities with a large fridge and dishwasher available. Comfortable bed and great size showers. Close to the centre of town also which was a real advantage. Given the location it was really quiet to sleep and the staff were very friendly.
