Stayed there twice now, once in an upstairs room and more recently in a downstairs one. Would definitely recommend upstairs more - rooms are small but well-appointed and it's so conveniently located, 5mn from the Gallery and 10mn from the Ulumbarra Theatre, just off View Street. The wine bar is cosy and convenient (although closed on Sunday). Rooms could probably do with new carpets and a lick of paint but it's a beautiful old building and accommodation prices are very competitive.

Described as “Maisonette Suites” there are six of these fairly small rooms in the centre of Bendigo. Ideally situated for great exploration of the city. Although small they have all that is need for one or two people. The bathroom in our room was very small and made having a shower an exciting prospect, but it works. Reasonably priced for its location it is recommended.

My wife & I stayed two nights in the 100 year old accommodation quarters during February & found the hotel very quiet & very comfortable. The accommodation area is at the back of the building meaning no noise despite the building being on a busy street. The front section of the building houses a restaurant, a bar area for casual drinks & a well stocked cellar those eating at the restaurant can purchase from at a discount. The Allawah is also centrally situated to the main shopping centre of Bendigo. We thoroughly enjoyed our two days there.

This property is set in a beautiful heritage building with wrought-iron balconies, period wood panelling and high ceilings. The building contains a wine-bar but most of the rooms are now rented out for overnight stays. We found it a great place to stay. It had all the amenities you might wish for from a comfortable bed to tea and coffee facilities and a hot shower. It is also very close to downtown Bendigo, making it handy for business or dining options.

Had some dramas initially as I had booked this through Hotels.com and had to change the room and it was messy however Tracey at Allawah was so helpful and rang me, emailed me and in the end, it was sorted, no fault of Allawah. We stayed 2 nights, 2 couples in the Maisonette rooms (approx 100 year old building) and we had a great time. It was clean. Jarrod(?) was particularly helpful when we got there and checked us in without us doing a thing! He then went out of his way to get us included on a fully booked pizza night. He organised a table and it was a great night. The maisonette rooms are directly next to the outdoor area. We were upstairs Room 4 and my sister and her party were downstairs. I like the convenience of the rooms being in the area of the outdoor area, although it may not suit everyone. The rooms were comfortable and they were cool and breezy nights but the rooms were warm without heating. We didn't eat at the wine bank, so I won't comment but the pizza night was worth the $25 per head for pizza. Conveniently located. The only downside was there is not much parking available out back but we got a park. Thanks for the stay and thanks to both Tracey and Jarrod. Be safe!

Old and tired. It was called fountain view and we were looking at the car park and air conditioners. The carpet and shelving was filthy and stained and room service very slack. Didn’t even replace the pillows on the bed from the floor.
Great location but needs some love and money spent on it!

We were in Bendigo to spend time with our nephew. The room was excellent, had everything we needed. The room was perfectly clean and quiet. Check in was very easy with off street parking. It was nice to sit on the balcony at the end of the day. Highly recommend, we would stay again!!

First impressions were very impressive.Lovely clean room with easy access through the wine bar to Main Street, great location. Parking could be tricky & we were lucky to get the last spot on a Friday night. Bathroom tiny, but has everything you need. The walls were obviously very thin, as we were woken very early by several groups staying who were departing before 6. They weren’t being particularly loud, but at one stage I even heard someone yawning! Luckily we weren’t there for a sleep in. We had a delicious tapas dinner in the wine bar.

We stayed in one of the maisonettes behind the wine bar. Room was very comfortable and well appointed and the location is excellent as it is within walking distance to everything in Bendigo. Check in was easy (don’t get confused about having to check in at the wine bar). Will happily stay there again.

Room 6 I was in. Bathroom tiny but otherwise room was fine. It has everything you would expect for the price and suited my needs. Only very annoying thing was being woken up at 5am to alot of banging going on in the stair area. After that had trouble going back to sleep. Maybe it was a cleaner? Was great.
