Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

From the moment of booking directly with the hotel it was smooth as. Communication was really good, Fiona was superb along with all the other staff we came into contact with. Room 14 has its own private deck, sure it looks over the carpark, but wait till sunset. This room has the best double shower we have seen. It has put pressure on renoing the home one. Will definitely stay again, came up for the photo benienal. See you again in 2025.

Fantastic location, but, the staff were outstanding. I was greeted by Abby, who was so helpful and friendly. I had lunch, dinner and breakfast there and all meals were outstanding. Alex, Daniel and Alicia served me and nothing was a problem, their attention to detail was excellent. The staff were always smiling. The room was very well appointed.

Noisy function venue with accommodation upstairs, uncomfortable bed, tiny cold dingy room with no storage. No mention of disruptive noise in rooms prior to our stay or at check in. Spoke to duty manager, didn’t really care or offer any recompense. Accommodation parking taken up by restaurant patrons so no available parking on site…can only imagine reviewers giving this place 5 stars are used to camping. I’ve been on more comfortable school camps! You’ve been warned!

Oscar’s was recommended because of its central location. Well the location is perfect. We were lucky enough to get room 14 which is a large room with a very nice bathroom, an extremely comfortable king size bed and (to our surprise) a large balcony (a great spot for a relax and a glass of wine). Oscar’s has a café dining room with all day service. The staff are very good. Highly recommended.

Oscar's is a boutique hotel centrally located in Ballarat. Off street parking is available. My room was very comfortable, and there was a very modern ensuite. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel hosts many events. On my arrival, I was warned that there was a function with live music which was due to finish at midnight. I did not find the music too intrusive.

The food was excellent and my partner was given a separate gluten free menu on request, as she's coeliac. The place is a lovely art deco hotel and we ate in the atrium section. Service was spot on. The menu was very varied, with plenty of options. Would certainly go back there again.

Good location in the heart of Ballarat. Hotel has its own parking space. No lift so you'll need to carry luggage up and down. Noise from events below can last into the night. Room has a few surfaces to put things but they are all narrow or small. Good sized room that was clean. Shower was great.

We walked in looking for a room and dinner. Fiona at reception immediately took the time to take us upstairs and show us the range of rooms available. Very friendly, cheerful & professional. We chose a room facing away from the street and it was perfect, very quiet, well appointed, comfy bed, warm and with fast wi-fi. Dinner was excellent, good choice of drinks and Brett was outstanding, taking the time, more than once, to recommend things to do in & around Ballarat based on our time-frame. Every one of them great recommendations. Off-street parking was available. Will stay again,
