This is a great hotel for a family (and also a great hotel generally). We will definitely stay here again if we return to Launceston.
We stayed in a two bedroom suite which was clean and had plenty of space and was just all round very comfortable. They set up a baby cot for us which they had emailed us about to ask in advance.
Everyone we interacted with was so friendly and helpful. The front desk staff were very knowledgeable and helpful, and the housekeeping stuff were also happy to help and seemed genuinely happy to be there.
We even forgot a phone charger and they called me to say we’d forgotten it and offered to post it back, and then they sent me the tracking once I’d confirmed I’d be happy to pay the postage.
All the bathrooms’ soaps and kitchen and stuff were all well stocked (a lot of hotels don’t seem to properly refill those bathroom squeezy bottles or water them down) and the linen and towels were all spotless.
The carpark is super convenient: you can get into it by the ground floor lifts.
We ordered room service once and it was excellent. It was all large portions and was fast to arrive and absolutely delicious. We asked for a plate of vegetables for the baby too and they managed it very happily (again, some hotels find off-menu orders really challenging). One tiny warning to folks is that the steak sandwich says it can be done gluten free, but the fries it comes with are cooked with other things that have gluten.

We stayed here before and after doing the Overland Track. It is one of the pickup/drop off locations for the Tasmanian Walking Company, so very convenient for the early start. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite which was modern and well equipped, including a kitchenette and laundry facilities. The spa bath was fantastic on our return from 6 days of hiking. The In-Room dining comes from the restaurant downstairs and was delicious and generous. The location was a couple of blocks from the new riverfront area in one direction and the main town centre in the other. We would certainly stay here again.

We booked our stay at The Sebel as a last minute emergency as we were planning to travel around northern Tasmania for our anniversary, but 2 days before our trip found there was not a single rental car available, so we had to base ourselves in Launceston and go on tours. The 1st half of out trip went smoothly but while up at Lake St Clair, Brisbane (where we live) went into COVID lockdown so everyone that was from that area also had to go into self-isolation. We couldn't get hold of the Tas Dept of Health for advice so we returned to Launceston as planned (not knowing if the Sebel would even take us). When we got there (masks on), the staff were so wonderful, got us up to our room, and we ordered Uber eats (most restaurants in Launceston close at 8.30pm but you can still get delivered food). The next few days, the staff were so friendly and helpful, left us bags with clean linen and towels, coffee, tea, anything we needed. We cannot recommend the Sebel highly enough. We were even welcomed with a lovely bottle of local red wine for our anniversary. We will definitely be going back there when we return to Launceston. The room was spotless, nice balcony for us to enjoy cheese and wine (while we couldn't go anywhere), very convenient to many tourist attractions (once we could get out). Did I mention great staff.

Good location for shopping and accessing city/seaport areas. There are no nice views, it is purely a city hotel and better for convenience over anything else.
We stayed in a deluxe studio, choosing this hotel due to its inner city location.
I’m an Accor member and at other Accor hotels I’ve stayed we have always been well looked after, either with a good room location, or a late check out or free parking. Not the case here at all, with no little extras at all. Got put in a terrible room on level 1 right outside the lift and right above the entry/reception.
Room carpet smelled bad and whole room smelled stale.
Shower head was not working and needs a full replacement. Water came out in one stream/trickle no matter what the shower head was set on. Told reception and they sent maintenance to look at it. When trying the shower nothing had changed. Told reception and was advised the maintenance staff had “deemed it acceptable” which it definitely was not as it still was not working. I’ve had better showers in outback motels. We were given a couple of drinks vouchers as compensation for a shower that could not really be used.
Breakfast does not start until 7.30 weekdays and 8 on weekends so if you need to be somewhere early take note. Room service of an evening also ends by 8.30 which was disappointing. Even an extra hour on the room service menu would have been helpful.
At $275 a night (with $10 parking) I’d expected so much better from what is deemed to be a “higher end” hotel in Launceston.
Peppers Seaport and Peppers Silos are much nicer options and I would not stay at the Sebel again as it felt like poor value for money.
The staff were lovely with great service, and they do an excellent job.

My husband and I were disappointed with our recent stay at the Sebel Launceston. We chose the Sebel as we are members of Accor Platinum and normally enjoy the little extras offered and the hospitality in general, unfortunately on this occasion that was not our experience.
At check in it was obvious that the hotel is looking a little tired and would benefit for a freshen up, the lobby was in need of a good vacuum. We received 2 complimentary drink vouchers to the bar/restaurant but were told we couldn’t use them because it was closed due to it being a public holiday. Our in room welcome gift was 2 small average chocolates - not much thought or care had gone into the gift :(
The room was a fair size on the smallish side, very limited coffee/tea amenities, a small balcony however the traffic noise was loud if you left the door open. The room was tidy and generally clean however there was tape around light fittings in the bathroom that must have been overlooked after a paint job.
At check out we requested to leave our bags as we were going on a Franklin River expedition and would be returning in 9 days to stay with them again - we were told leaving the bags was not an option. We stressed we needed to leave them as we couldn’t leave them with the expedition company, the receptionist reluctantly agree we could leave them at the hotel however there would be a $20per day charge. We said that was not suitable and that we would be cancelling our return booking at which time the receptionist said that would be fine for us to cancel our booking without trying to salvage the situation. We made other arrangements for our bag and return stay and both agreed we would not be visiting Sebel Launceston again.
On the plus side - the accommodation is well located in close walking distance to the CBD and the walking path around the Tamar River to the Cataract Gorge, the gorge is a leisurely 10 minute stroll from the Sebel.

Stay two nights, separate bedroom and cooking facilities. Our room was on the second floor, outlook was a concrete wall and a car park. The decor is dull and dreary, furniture mismatched, bedhead stained. Bedroom has a sliding door but as the couch is placed across the doorway only one door is accessible making the passage of luggage difficult. Did not use the kitchen facilities as the table provided was too small to seat two adults. On arrival we were issued at reception with a voucher for the hotel restaurant specifically for dinner. We tried to make a reservation through reception but call went unanswered. Went down to the restaurant to find that it was closed for a private function. Booked online for the following night but on arrival found it closed again for a private function. Restaurant manager was very apologetic, could not explain why we had been issued a voucher and as reception was again unattended we could get no explanation. On checking out next morning desk again unattended and waited almost ten minutes for service. I asked about the non usable voucher and was at first told that it must have issued by the agency handling our booking. When asked how this was possible as our room number was hand written on the voucher the reply was that our parking fee would be refunded. Met the restaurant manager in the car park as we were leaving who apologised again and asked if we had received the bottle of wine she had asked to sent to our room, of course we had not. I do not hold the restaurant manager responsible in any way, she went out of her way to be helpful. We were contacted by the hotel manager later to tell us we had been refunded the amount offered on the voucher. He failed to grasp that the complaint was not about money but the fact that this hotel is badly run and in no way up to the standard of the many Sebel Hotels we have stayed in. I do not usually write such long reviews but felt it necessary if it results in an improvement in this particular hptel's standards.

Although our suite was on the first floor and overlooking a busy street it was quite, apart from the church bells.
Pleasant staff, parking at $8 a night and a licensed restaurant, that served mainly asian inspired meals. Breakfast was included.

We stayed there the night of our wedding, waking up to room service, thinking one of our family members was super nice and got us breakfast we signed and dug in. Once we went to check out I was told we had to pay for breakfast, I questioned the staff member saying we didn't order and thought someone had done it for us, we ended up paying for it. Later I found out that they had screwed up and sent it to the wrong room. We rang the Sebel spoke to a staff member and explained the situation they had informed me that we will get a refund but the manager had to call me. Four days later I had heard nothing so I followed it up, I had to wait for a call back. Once he called me back and admitted they were at fault they still didn't want to give us our money back. Nice way to start our married life. Won't be going back.

The team at the Sebel Launceston do their best to raise the experience to a four star standard, however the tired, worn out feel in the hotel rooms, combined with a general lack of pride and standards from owners/managers, undermines the team’s positive attitude.
For what this hotel is, the charges are very high. Looking at other hotel offerings in the region (and I did when the reality of our room sunk in), there seems to be a number of stronger value propositions.
Our room was tired and worn, blinds had massive gaps, letting light through. Worse of all, there was a weird, unclean smell in the room that we couldn’t put our finger on and did our best to ignore.
The fridge was empty of mini bar offerings, another chip off the experience. There was a note offering the ridiculous explanation that this experience-undermining measure was in some way linked to a covid health initiative.
The strongest proof point that the hotel had given up from a customer experience point of view was when we got a welcoming letter which referred to two complimentary bottles of water and a “special treat”. The special treat wasn’t a cookie made by a local Launceston baker, or a couple of pieces of Tasmanian fudge - something that would build the brand and add a true sense of welcoming or warmth. The special treat was… wait for it… four starburst lollies and a mentos (see photograph). This is not a joke. Four starburst lollies and a mentos was the “special treat” provided to guests to welcome them. And so, the bar was set for the Sebel Launceston.
The restaurant in the hotel is another matter, it offered a great experience and I gave separately reviewed it, giving it a good score.

This well-run hotel is, based on two stays, a dependable establishment with friendly helpful staff. Its in-building restaurant, Bluestone, serves excellent traditional breakfasts that one anticipates with alacrity! Rooms are always spotlessly clean. And no shortage of towels on request, tho of course in eco-era one tries to limit how many. I definitely would stay again. Thank you to all staff.

Hello, Karl, by taxi is around $35 and takes 15 mins. There is also an Airport shuttle bus for $15 that drops off at our hotel. It meets every flight and operates from directly outside the terminal exits near baggage claim.
