Detailed Reviews
The Adina is an older multi-storey complex with good views. The rooms were clean but very basic. Even with daytime temperatures in the mid 20’s with four people in our room it was very stuffy during the night and we had to run the airconditioner all night.
Free car parking is a bonus, but access tight.
The lift is essential for moving bags to your room and was fast and clean. The walkway between rooms and reception is an outdoor walkway so be prepared for this in cold and wet weather.
Good value for workers and travellers who simply need a clean bed for the night, or families on a tight budget.
It may be challenging to prepare a meal in the kitchenette.
Thanks to one of the several receptionists who gave us great advice finding a nearby cafe, the Tower Cafe, for a great breakfast.

Welcome by reception staff was a highlight. Initial room impression - dated, small, TV screen the size of a laptop and a six pack ( just) bar fridge.
Yes there's a commanding view of Lonnie and you can contemplate that from the Spa which occupies an ensuite half the total floor area.
The location is close enough and still quiet, however the carpark although free is ramped and tight.

Our 2 Bedroom apartment was on level 1. The apartment was small but functional. The view was lovely even from level 1. Location was Good, although everything was downhill, which meant a big hike up steep hills to get back, OK if young and fit. Some fantastic restaurants near by (Pickled Evenings Indian was amazing).
Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was a bit tight for larger vehicles.
Downside - Initially the room had this overwhelming smell of air freshener, but when it subsided there was a notable stale fried food smell to the room, which made everything feel a bit dirty and greasy even though everything looked and felt spotless. On Turning on the oven the night of our arrival, the smell got worse and when we opened the oven, smoke billowed from it, When we removed the oven trays we realised they were drenched in oil??. So our first night was spent cleaning the oven and trying to heat pizzas while having every door and window open on a freezing night so as not smell the room out further nor set off fire alarms (Our simple relaxing home heated pizza dinner after a long, cold and tiring day ended up being a major ordeal).

A 3 bedroom apartment price is quoted for 2 people - the 3rd person will cost an extra $25 per night. The receptionist made unwarranted & ungrounded accusations that were not appreciated. Dated rooms, inefficient heating & no noise proofing between floors.

The Adina is an older multi-storey complex that is located wthin walking distance of the Launceston CBD. The rooms were fairly clean but very basic. If you have an upstairs room there is a great view from your small balcony. The Adina really needs a total refurbishment. Our room had a spa bath that I wouldn't use and there was mould in the bathroom too. There was one powerpoint in the bathroom and the actual light switch is over near the window. The bathroom is hidden behind mirrored glass sliding doors (like wardrobe doors). There is free car parking but access can be tight. Also there is a bit of noise from York street which runs along the building.
The rooms are accessed via an external walkway which could be chilly in cold and wet area. Did use the guest laundry but it is also in need of a refurbishment.
Unfortunately, the bed was not that comfortable. A couple of the receptionists provided some very helpful information.

The cons outweighed the pros of this accommodation in which we stayed for 4 nights which is why I can only rate it average. Starting with the Pros.
PRO: Good location which was quiet at night, on-site free parking & guest laundry available on 1st floor - 2 washing machines and 2 dryers, gold coin operated. 2 bedroom apartment with kitchen, etc., that was very clean & had all the basic items as advertised. Linens were clean, as were the towels although they were well used (aka quite thin). Good storage in bedrooms.
CON: The most uncomfortable bed and pillows which meant aching bones every morning and not a lot of sleep. What made it worse was the two double couches in the living area were also incredibly uncomfortable, with little to no support whatsoever - felt as if it was simply upholstery fabric over wooden frames and no webbing under the seat cushions. This meant you were uncomfortable trying to relax in the evenings and when trying to sleep at night.
The other problem with the bedroom was evident on the first night we stayed, with it being a cold night outside and also in the bedroom. I had found a spare blanket in the wardrobe which we used on the bed but when lying in bed for a couple of hours, wide awake because of the poor quality mattress and pillows, I realised I could feel a cold breeze. Checking behind the blind and curtain, I discovered the window partially down. I attempted to close it, only to find that it couldn't be closed fully - the rubber stripping that is within the frame of the window had come away and was hanging down, tangled within the window frame, meaning that it couldn't close fully and so the cold night air coming through the opening left by the window dropping on one side.
I did report it the next morning (reception staffed limited hours each day) but being a Sunday, there was no-one available to repair it..... nor did it get fixed before we checked out after our 4 night stay.
It is an old motel, with either well used or cheap furniture. It's clean, it's convenient, it's quiet at night and it allows you to self cater but it may be better to spend a bit more money to find somewhere more comfortable if you want a good night's sleep.

Older style rooms. We had 2 spa rooms on the ground floor. The bathroom was the about the same size of the bedroom. If you aren't young and fit don't have the spa rooms. The spa was huge and unfortunately you have to climb into spa to have a shower and very slippery even with bath mat. All the spa jets weren't working either. The only ventilation was through the back door or sliding door onto the parking area. Neither could be open at night and there was no window in bathroom. Two rooms between ours had security screen doors on but not ours. The beds were never made up properly only quilt pulled up. Other than that rooms were ok for price. Beds were comfortable..

I would like to give the reception staff Lisa and Karen 10 out of 10 for wonderful service. I was trying to get a bed for one night and rang the hotel as I'd booked on what I thought was their website - I'd booked the wrong night and couldn't change it. Lisa was the lady I spoke to and she very kindly sorted it for me in such a lovely manner.
Then when I arrived Karen was on reception and the welcome was warm and friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Personality plus, what an asset!
The room was on the small side but comfortable, spotless and had a fabulous view of the city. It is also within walking distance of two theatres, bars and restaurants.
A genuine pleasure to stay here, thank you ladies.

Older apartment (self contained). Needs a major refurbishment (especially the mattress - was probably the worst mattress I have ever encountered). Walls are paper thin and our "neighbours" blasted music until 4am. Very good location ( although it is a hike up the hill) and the receptionist was very helpful with lots of assistance with places to see.
