We were pretty happy with our stay at the Hideaway, which is just a few blocks from downtown Lonnie, with its many good cafes and shops. While George St is busy, the hotel's 'hideaway' location is set well back from the street so is very quiet and its elevation gives good views across the city. The room was clean, nicely decorated and spacious enough, wifi reception good. Two things bothered: there was just one towel rail (and no hooks) in the otherwise excellent bathroom; secondly, the noise coming from the next rooms. The walls seemed to be solid brick but we one could hear muted conversations from the next room.
The location was within walking distance to cafe’s, pubs, shops. The room itself was roomy, f you like a firm bed you will be ok. The problem we had was that there was no sound insulation in the walls/floors, so you could hear people walking up/down internal staircase and the conversation of those staying in the downstairs room along with every time the toilet flushed, I’m assuming us walking around would have drove them nuts too. Ended up leaving a day early as we needed a decent nights sleep.
As a couple we stayed one night here, the rooms were very large and clean. The motel is a short walk from the center of town and close to many eating places. Booking in was easy. I would recommend a ground floor room if you have large suitcases and there is only stairs to the second floor. I would stay again if in Launceston.
I can't say enough good things about Hideaway on George. We finally made it to Tasmania (third-time lucky, due to COVID-19). Clare and her team continued to move our booking and were warm and understanding about this. Our family were there together at the same time, with three different rooms. We returned for a second stint (booking two rooms), so we experienced five rooms in all over 10 nights (five nights each time). All of them were terrific, incredibly comfortable (beds, pillows and couches) and clean, with opening windows as well as aircon, views across the city, great en-suite etc. Our deluxe suites (two over the two stays) were incredibly spacious. The location is brilliant as very central and close to cafes, shops etc. and you can walk to the Windmill Hill swimming centre (10mins uphill but downhill on the way back :-)), the fabulous Gorge (about 20mins to the start of the walk in) and very close to City Park. Will definitely be returning and would highly recommend it for all purposes - family, couples, business.…
We arrived earlier then expected but our host was able to move us to an earlier-cleaned room which was most appreciated. There is a secure car park and is located near the heart of Launceston. The bed was comfy and the shower was good as well. The rooms appear to be very new due to the new carpet smell. Happy to stay here agin.
